Advantages: Hides all those unwanted imperfections
Ok like in my previous reviews of Benefit products I will give a little overview about how it Benefit started; Back in 1976 twin sisters Jean and Jane Ford opened up their first Boutique in San Francisco known as " The Face Place", The sisters passion for make-up mixed along with the high quality products they sold, their originality and the sisters combined sense of humour ,which we see depicted through the sassy packaging and witty product names today started to attract a lot of attention and in 1990 they re branded and became as what we all know today "Benefit". At that point they had 5 Boutiques within the San Francisco area but with the help of word of mouth, popularity and high demand it soon started to see Benefit counters opening in Department stores across the world. They had literally put fun into make-up and girls and women absolutely loved it.
Now I have always been searching for a concealer which works for me but the ones I have used in the past have always been to light or too dark for my skin tone so havent addressed the issue or they have looked too heavy on the skin and been extremely obvious, not what you need. Now Im not going to say I suffer badly from dark circles under my eyes but their are times when I find myself suffering from a lack of sleep from being a Mum or from working long days or night shifts at the hospital and those dark circles start to appear and thats when something needs to be done.. thats where Benefit Boi-ing comes in.I came across this product at the Benefit counter at one of my local department stores, described as an Industrial Concealer I was intreagued and wondered if this could be the product I had been after, after all using the word industrial in a product discription means it has got to be effective, durable and heavy duty doesnt it? So I decided to give it a go.
Now Boi-ing is an industrial strength concealer that claims to cover everything you want it to hide, whether it be to eliminate dark circles from under the eyes, blemishes, broken capillaries visible on the skins surface, spots, noticeable open pores you name it Benefit Boi-ing claims that it can conceal and hides it and do this without looking heavy on the skin, smudging or wearing off.
Boi-ing is available in thre different shades so everone should be able to find one which is suitable for their skin tone:
01-Light , Suitable for those with Paler skin
02- Medium, Suitable for those with an average skin tone and
03- Dark, Suitable for those with a darker skin tone
Now I have fairly pale skin so 01 Light is perfect for me but when those summer months come and I am out about in the sun and beguin to tan my skin tone becomes dramatically darker so I find myself using 02 - Medium as 01-Light is just too light and looks totally obvious.
Now the packaging for this product leaves a lot to be desired, I usually love Benefits Quirky packaging, its one of the main attractions to Benefit products but I will openly say and to my disappointment that compared to their usual cute, sassy colourful packaging with quirky quotes and images that I have always associated with Benefit products this packaging is boring. Its far more contemporary and just plain dull.
The concealer comes in a small square box which is Salmon Pink and Black in colour (Not exactly exciting!!) with a circular window so you can see the product its housing inside, housed within this you find a small 2 piece black circular pot that has a clear plastic window with the word Boi-ing written on its lid with a little picture of all I could describe as being a spring, this small window allows you to be able to see the colour of the product being purchased.
To get to the product you just simply unscrew the lid which I find great as it makes sure the lid stays put when its in my make-up bag so reduces the risk of major mess.
Now I expected the concealer itself to be a very heavy, of a thick consistency, I guess mainly because its described as an Industrial strength Concealer, but it isn't at all.
It has a creme based texture which looks very soft and smooth within the pot
Now Benefit reccomend that you apply Boi-ing onto the desired areas using your finger tips but I will openly admitt that the thought of this leading to a bacteria-filled pot of concealer really makes me cringe..that bacreria transfering from the finger to my pot of concealer each time and then transfered onto my face each time Is asking for spots lol ( I know totally fussy!!!)
so my personal preference is to use a Benefit concealer brush to apply the concealer to my face using tiny strokes to blend into my skin. Some may think that this is too time consuming but it works for me.
From the pot the concealer transfers onto the brush nice and easily, During application it seems to just glide on, melt into the skin effortlessly and tone in really well. It felt really light on the skin, it left no greasy residue like some concealers so it wasnt obvious at all that I was wearing a concealer to hide my imperfections.
As well as dark circles it covers any blemishes and tones down any redness brilliantly. My foundation also looked flawless over the top too, looking closely I could not tell that I was wearing a concealer underneath.
Bo-ing had literally given me more coverage than any other concealer I had ever used in the past.
After a days wear I find that the concealer still hides imperfections really well, even with a slight amount of perspiration during the day or rain.
To remove all you need is a cleansing wipe and it comes off really easily which is great.
Yet another fantastic product from Benefit that I would say is a must have for any guy orgirl who wants to hide any unwanted imperfections without it being obvious. It provides great coverage, a natural look, and has real staying power.
Now like most Benefit products it does come with a high end price ticket, a 3g pot of this concealer retails at £16.50 which some people may think is just too hight but for the results which you can achieve I certainly believe that this product is worth every penny and also based on my daily usage a 3g pot will last me a minimum of 12 weeks which I think justifies the price even more.
You can purchase this concealer from any Benefit counters at House of Fraser,Debenhams or Boots, or from the Benefit Cosmetics website itself.
Summary: A concealer that provides great coverage, a natural look, and has real staying power.
