-----General Information -----
I have been using benefit products for five years now. I love their packaging and the quality of the products. At the time that I first started purchasing Benefit, they were the only company with the retro branding and quirky names. This has since changed and I have seen other companies like Soap & Glory using the same theme, probably because it is eye catching and fun. I will remember that Benefit did it first though!
----- Benefit The Company -----
Benefit Cosmetics LLC was started up in San Francisco, and it's headquarters remain there. Benefit was born when twins Jean & Jane Ford opened a boutique, selling basic makeup that every girl needs. When deciding on a business venture, their fate was in the hands if a coin, heads would mean they open a casserole cafe, and tails meant they would open a beauty shop. They now reach millions of people through their 2000+ counters in over thirty countries. Once success was achieved, they added their famous "Brow Bars" to many stores along side the makeup counter.
----- The Product -----
At the time of reviewing, Benefit claim that Brow Zings is the best selling eyebrow product in the UK. The cost is around £25, and can be bought online or in stores with a a benefit counter. The product is in a square black palette, with "BROWZings" printed in matte black, all over the lid. When you open the palette you will see:
A mirror in the top section, that covers the whole area
A wax for shaping
A powder for setting
An angled brush
A blending brush
A booklet showing how to use BROWZings
----- My Experience -----
I usually go to the benefit counter, ask the girls to do my makeup and then line up what they used so I can pick the products that I want to buy. On one occasion, the girl used BROWZings, which was a brave move as I had never filled my eyebrows in before, I had just plucked them or had them waxed and that was it. I was very impressed, so bought the product, but was nervous that I would make myself look like a clown!
I had a play around with the kit when I got home, and was surprised at how easy it is to use. I followed the instructions and got some handy tips, and my eyebrows looked pretty good!
I like how the wax is applied first, which is easy to remove if you go wrong, and then when you have perfected your design, you then add the powder to set it. I find that as the product has wax, it is waterproof, and really does have great staying power.
----- Overall -----
I love love love this product, yet another pearler from Benefit! I have since purchased another, but the first one lasted me a year, which is impressive considering how much makeup I use!

I am reviewing Brow zings which is made by Benefit and is the No.1 best-selling eyebrow product in the UK. The brow kit comes with all the tools you need for clean, smooth, perfect brows wherever you are. An eyebrow kit isn't something I would have gone for a few years ago, but I have recently been getting into my make-up a lot and wanted to see what this kit was like. I recently treated myself to some new make-up which although worked out quite expensive, I am glad I purchased the items that I did as I have been pleased with them all so far. Back to the product now which was voted the Best Brow Product by U Beauty awards in 2012 and was also voted best Brow Fill by RSVP Beauty Awards 2012. The kit contains a pigmented wax for shaping your brows, a natural-shaded powder for setting, hard angled brush, blending brush, mini tweezers, mirror and a leaflet telling you how to use the product (lesson). I have quite well groomed eyebrows and I pluck them regularly to keep them in shape.
The Brow kit comes in a cardboard box which clearly states what the product is on the front of it. It also has a picture of the product on the front as well so you can see what the product contains. The shade of the product is displayed clearly on the top of the box to ensure that you can find the right shade for you. On the back of the box it tells you a little about the product and also lists the ingredients. When taking the kit out of the box, there should be a folded paper leaflet which shows and tells you how to use the product. This is great if you haven't used this product before as it's really easy to follow. The kit itself comes in a black compact like packaging which has brows written all over it.
The compact is square in shape and when you open it, it reveals a cure little kit for your eyebrows. The wax is on the top left hand side of the compact and the power is on the top right. It's easy to tell the difference between the wax and the power. The small brushes which you use for applying the product should be in plastic as they are new. The brushes are really cute as they a small but look like decent brushes to apply the product with. The tweezers are made from a strong silver metal and they have benefit engraved on them. There is a mirror on the inside of the compact so you can apply this product whenever and where-ever you need to. I have to admit that this kit looked very similar to one I purchased last year as it's designed the same and also contains the same things such as the brushes and tweezers. It was going to be interesting to see how well this performed in comparison to the other kit I purchased last year which was by a brand called 'Sleek'.

I purchased this from my local Boots store for £23.50 where they have a Benefit counter. The kit comes in Light, Medium and Deep shades. You can also purchase this from the Benefit website (ww.benefitcosmetics.co.uk). You may also find this slightly cheaper to buy on eBay.

Using the Product

The tweezers are a great idea to help pluck away any stray or newly growing hairs that you don't want. I personally found these tweezers too small and fiddly to use so I always use my normal tweezers that I always use when plucking! I find that you also have to put quite a lot of pressure on the tweezers in able to actually grip a hair and pull it out as they seem quite stiff. Before using anything else in this kit, I always ensure that my eyebrows are plucked and well groomed as I don't want to use this product to find out that I have lots of hairs growing back. You could always pluck any stray hairs after using this kit but I personally prefer to do this before. The first step is to use the angled brush to shape your brows using the wax. I took the small brush and gently swept this across the wax. The wax is slightly pigmented so you can tell when you have some of the product on the end of the brush. Use this to gently shape your brows to how you want them. Although the brush is very small I found it really easy to use and because its angled it's easy to shape your brows how you want them. Using the wax ensures there are no hairs sticking up or out from the rest of the brow.
After applying the wax you then need to apply the powder which sets your brows. You need to use the other small brush for this, which has a round end to it. I lightly swept the brush across the powder a little to ensure that some of it appeared on the end of the brush. I chose the medium shade which in my opinion is still quite dark. I used the brush very lightly on my brows to set the style and to also fill them in making them look nice and groomed. You have to be careful not to go over board on the powder as this can look a little obvious. I only ever apply a little of the powder on each eyebrow to ensure they look neat and tidy. Although I very rarely use the mirror which is on the inside of the compact it's a good sized mirror so you can easily see what you are doing if applying the product somewhere else where there happens to be no mirror. The compact makes a click sound as it closes to ensure that it stays shut. I haven't had any issues with the compact opening in my make-up bag when travelling

Once I had applied the wax and looked in the mirror, my eyebrows didn't look that much different apart from maybe looking a little neater. I do how-ever always apply the wax as I don't think the finishing powder would have the same effect if you decided not to apply the wax. The finishing powder definitely finishes off the look of your brows and also fills them in as well giving them a neat, tidy and also professional looking finish. After I had finished applying this product to my brows, I was actually surprised at the difference it made my brows look. They looked so much better and were more noticeable but in a good way. My brows looked much neater and tidier than what they normally do, despite plucking them regularly to keep them looking as good as possible.
Although I don't always wear a full face of make-up every day I do like to apply this to my brows daily as I think it helps to frame my face a lot more. When applying the product in the morning I find that it stays looking great all day and there is no need to re-apply during the day. In fact I haven't even needed to re-apply this product before going out in the evening, despite applying it a lot earlier on in the day. The product will smudge if you happen to rub your eyebrows so you need to try and remember that you are wearing this. In terms of removing the product, I always use a facial wipe to remove the majority of my make up followed my cleanser and toner. I find that the facial wipe is good at removing the product because you can rub your brows gently to ensure it gets rid of any of the wax and the powder, which may have clung to any of the hairs.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this kit as its very similar, if not the same as my previous kit that I purchased last year. As this one is by Benefit I immediately thought it would be better than the one I had. In terms of the kit you get exactly the same as in the cheaper brand kit that I purchased. The tweezers in the Benefit kit are better as they do grip the hairs but I still think they are rather fiddly to use. I probably won't ever use the tweezers that came with this kit, but obviously they are going to be handy for people who do travel a lot. The brushes are small but I found them easy to hold whilst applying the product and they apply the product really well. As the brushes are quite small it's hard to apply too much of the product which is good. Although the wax is pigmented this isn't very obvious when using the product, but that doesn't mean you need to apply a lot of it. The wax really helps to shape the brows ready for the powder. In terms of the powder I probably could have done with the darker shade; how-ever the medium shade doesn't look silly on my brows so I can luckily get away with continuing to use this product.
The kit definitely helps to define my eyebrows making them look much more groomed and framing my face more. Since I have started using this product, I wouldn't go back to not using it as it really does make a lot of difference. The kit fits into my make-up bag nicely as its quite flat and it stays shut when I am travelling around with it. As with all make-up brushes I would suggest washing the brushes weekly. I use a Boots No.07 brush cleaner and squirt a little of this onto some kitchen towel and rub the brush across it until it appears to look clean. This is well worth doing otherwise the brushes can attract germs. When comparing this to the other brow kit I purchased I really don't think there is a huge difference as they are both great and both give the same results. In terms of value this kit is £15 more expensive than my previous one that I have been using. This is a really good product and the results are great, but I don't think I would purchase it again because I think the Sleek kit is just as good as this one and it is a lot cheaper.
(review will also appear on ciao)
I have dark hair and so my eyebrows are naturally quite thick and bushy for a girl. That means that I have to pluck them regularly so that I don't end up looking like my brother! Despite them being bushy, they aren't quite dark enough for my appearance and so I often use an eyebrow pencil. The long and short of it is that my eyebrows are high maintenance! I bought Brow Zings by Benefit to help me with the problem.
What does the product do?
The product is a kit which contains all the things that are needed to tame and perfect your brows. The product comes with instructions telling you how to best use each of the items, leaving you will smooth and beautiful brows.
The kit contains a mini tweezers which is one of the most important parts me. Also included is a coloured setting wax to shape the brow and a coloured powder to set and fill the brow. Two brushes are included, one for the wax and one for the powder, and a mirror is present so you can sort your brows out on the go.
The product is available in three shades -light, medium and dark. I chose medium even though I have dark brown brows because I didn't want the harshness of the dark shade.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a sturdy and classy looking black compact which has a mirror in the lid. It is easy to open and close, and even though the products are safely stored inside, it is still easy to get them removed and replaced again. The product is slightly expensive costing you around £23 but it should be really long lasting as long as it is looked after properly. It is available from stores with a Benefit stand such as Debenhams and Boots, and also from a range of online websites.
The first job is to get plucking those eyebrows. You should never pluck above the eyebrow as you will end up with an unnatural shape. Unfortunately I do have a rather pronounced mono brow which is manageable as long as I have tweezers. I tweeze between my eyebrows and beneath and I found that although this tweezers is small, it is still easy to hold and control. The tweezers get a good grip of the hair and pull them out on the first time. They have a slightly slanted edge which makes it easier to get a grip of the hairs.
The pigmented wax
The pigmented wax isn't actually all that pigmented and it is more for created a shape in the brow. You need to use the hard angled brush for applying this which is easy to find because Benefit have very kindly popped the name on the brush for us. You sweep the brush over the wax gently and then hold the brush so that the bristles are horizontal. Starting at the bottom of the brow, you sweep the product from the inside out using gentle strokes. I tend to avoid the very beginning of the brow as this area can prevent the product from looking natural.
The pigmented powder
The powder is a lot more pigmented than the wax so you do need to apply this one with more care. You gently sweep the blending brush over the powder and carefully apply the powder in the same way that you applied the wax. The colour is buildable so start off with less and apply more as it is needed.
Using the product is quite straight forward and after a while, it becomes second nature so you won't need to keep looking at the instructions. The tools in the kit are small but still easy to hold and use. The product does help to tame and shape my brows and it gives them a little bit more definition without making them look over the top or as if they have been drawn on with a felt tip. The products have been gentle on my skin and haven't irritated me in any way or caused me any discomfort.
The formulas of the wax and powder are long lasting and they stay put for the whole day or the whole evening, depending when it was applied. It is easy to enough to reapply on the go if needed thanks to the little mirror. It does smudge or end up all over your face during the day which is a relief as that would look awful. It is easy removed using my usual make up remover.
All in all, this is a handy all in one kit which allows you to shape, colour and control your brows quickly and easily. The colour is buildaTble and the tools allow you to achieve naturally more defined eye brows which frame the eyes nicely. Although this is a pricey product, it should be very long lasting and so I am very happy with my purchase.
I love the Benefit range of makeup products and regularly try to hunt down new things to try. This is one of the products that I never would have thought of trying until the sales assistant tried some of this on me and I was hooked. My hair is naturally dark blonde with a few natural highlights and my eyebrows are the same, mostly dark blonde but with a few lighter hairs. As I've plucked my eyebrows a lot over the years, I have some small gaps and lighter areas. I do sometimes get my eyebrows tinted, but this does the job in-between tinting sessions.
The Benefit brand was first created in 1976 by twins Jane and Jean Ford in San Francisco. Their first products were actually designed for exotic dancers, but their 'fake it til you make it' attitude and products soon made them a worldwide success.
BrowZings are a brow shaping kit with a wax to help define your brows and also keep strays in place, powder to set the colour and briushes and tweezers completes this mini marvel. This compact comes in 3 colours - light, medium and deep. I have the light one as my eyebrows are a dark blonde. This costs £23.50 from Boots, Debenhams and all Benefit counters.
The product itself comes in a black compact style case, with the name of the product in different styles of font on the front and some details about the colour and the weight of the individual products on the reverse. Unlike most beauty products I own, this one doesn't have a 'use within' sticker on it. Inside the compact is a small mirror, 2 small brushes one which is angled to use with the wax and the other straight brush for the powder, a small pair of tweezers and the wax and powder.
To use this is fairly simple. Using the darker wax and the angled brush, I put a small amount of the wax along my eyebrows, paying particular attention to any gaps or spaces and then follow up with the powder and the flat brush. I find the angled brush helps get those gaps in the thinnest parts of my eyebrows.
I find that the wax also helps keep any strays in place. Even when in hot weather, this seems to keep in place for me, and not slide down my face. I am one of those people who don't like their makeup looking obvious - I just like to enhance what I have, but I really do notice the difference when I use this and the colour is a lot more natural than any eyebrow pencils that I have tried. This is a definite must have for my makeup bag.
I have had this for about 2 years now, using it fairly regularly and my compact looks almost full as I only need to use a tiny amount to get the effect I am looking for. I also find the tweezers very handy, as they are small but sharp, although they are easy to lose unless you keep them in the compact. t was expensive to buy, but I'm certain this will last me a long time so it was a fantastic purchase. It's something I never thought I'd have needed, but now I wouldn't be without it!
I wear make up every day and always fill my eye brows as they are very light and not noticeable especially in photos, I wear them semi-natural at work and thicker, darker and more dramatic for nights out. This eye brow set claims to contain everything you need for "clean, smooth, perfect brows" so I will advise you how I found this product and explain more about it.
Item: Benefit Brow-Zings
Description: "Our brow kit comes with all the tools you need for clean, smooth, perfect brows."
Price: £23.50 (if you keep any eye out they often do 10% offers at Debenhams on beauty products)
Bought in: Debenhams
Packaging, design, contents and size:
This comes in a small square black box, height 0.5 inches by 2.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep, the design is of a compact style box with click shut lid. Mirror on the inside of the lid that is the full size of the lid and very good quality, no size distortions and wipe clean easily. The set itself opens up to a mirror on one side of the top of the lid, the bottom half is split in 3 sections, one contains eye brow powder, the other contains the eye brow wax and the other third contains an applicator brush, a harder angled brush and a set of mini tweezers. (I will review the usefulness of each item further below). The packaging is actually very sensible and dark for a benefit product and you can only see the words "brow" on it if you move it around in the light. The ones I own usually come in bright, bold summery colours (aside from Boing - to be reviewed later). The packaging is quite sophisticated so could potentially appeal to a more mature customer who wishes to buy a staple make up item in plain packaging, whereas the likes of Benefit Hoola comes in a packaged designed to look like it is covered in bamboo and is more of a makeup bag "extra" so I can see why they have opted for 2 differing styles of packaging as people who like benefit will buy regardless of packaging whereas new customers may not like such flamboyant packaging. The label on the back gives further details on the contents weight. The lid clicks shut tightly and as you will know if you read my other reviews is something that I find to be a real plus point as there is nothing worse than paying out money for a beauty product to find it open and ruined at the bottom of a bag.
Contents in more detail:
The mirror is a good size and takes up one full size of the compact. The tweezers are sharp and precise enough to get the majority of eye brows plucked out but I would still have a good set to hand, they are OK as I saw them as a freebie as the main reason for the buying the set was the powder and wax for me, plus they are small and I have small hands so found them OK but they could be fiddly for some people. I don't have bush eye brows, in fact I don't feel I have enough eye brows so I don't actually use the harder angled brush to keep them in line. I do use the applicator brush every time and even though it is small I find this a perfect size for what I want to do with it. As I am not so keen on using the tweezers and the harder edged brush I have aken them out of the kit and keep them in a big make up bag I keep in the house. As these are now out of the set I can flip the compact open fully without anything falling out, so it is totally flat and can hold it by the section the brushes used to sit in and can do my eye brows holding the brush and looking in the mirror to apply to my eye brows.
Does it do what it says on the tin?:
"Our brow kit comes with all the tools you need for clean, smooth, perfect brows."
I would say that you get fuller, darker more noticeable eye brows using this kit rather than specifically saying that they are clean, smooth and perfect. AS that very much depends on how you can do them yourself. I was given a demonstration at the Benefit make up counter in Debenhams (and the kit comes with a how to guide too) where they showed me how to get the powder and wax on to the brush. In a kriss kross motion apply powder to the brush then move over and add wax to the brush before applying to your eye brows. Sweep over eye brows to fill gaps and exend where required. Basically you want to get the powder then wax on the brush then on to your eye brows where you fell they most require to be filed out. So the kit does help you to do that.
I chose the "dark" option in the range as I really feel my eye brows to be really sparse and light compared to my dark brown hair. However it also comes in medium and light too. I would really suggest going in for a test of this before buying though as it was really hard to tell by looking at them what colour I would need and was actually tempted to go for medium until I tried both in Debenhams and dark was definitely better suited to match my hair and skin tone. The kit actually smells quite a lot like play doh or plastercine. Which doesn't sound very nice but that's just what it smells like if you actually smell the compact, once on your eye brows it doesn't have a smell that you or anyone near you can smell. It goes "grainy" so have to daily wipe little clumps off the brush that turn in to what looks like an ink blot if you don't wipe them off. The little bumps of congealed powder/wax are created when you mix the two together (to make almost a paste, think of when you put lipstick on using a brush and that is close to the consistency of the wax/powder mix) but the majority of the mixture stays smooth so even though it is annoying side effect it doesn't actually stop you using the product successfully. The mixture glides on to your eye brows easily with a few strokes of the brush and additional layers can be added for a darker more dramatic effect. I use it as I think that darker eye brows frame the eyes more effectively and show case any eye makeup you are wearing.
Length of use/lasting throughout the day:
I rarely feel the need to reapply this after having had it on from morning. The wax seems to set the mixture and eye brows seem to be one of the few areas that you would tough on your face during the day so remain relatively untouched. So you do get a full days wear out of one application. There is 2.65g of powder and 1.7g of wax but they look about equal measures in the kit and seem to be going down in equal measures too so not too worried that one would run out before the other. I have had this in my make up bag and been using daily since January and have way more than half of it still left in there. A small amount has been wasted due to having to wipe away "gloopy" bits that gather from mixing the powder and wax together but overall this seems to be lasting really well and is good value for money.
This product was recommended to me by a friend of mine and I'm so glad I went out and bought it! I love to have a strong, defined brow and this kit comes with everything you need to perfect your brows.
Benefit is a high-end brand available in all department stores, some bigger Boots stores and also online. One thing I will warn you of is buying Benefit products on ebay as there are so many fakes on there and I've learnt the hard way. Always make sure when buying online you are buying from somewhere trustworthy.
* Our brow kit comes with all the tools you need for clean, smooth, perfect brows.
THE KIT CONTAINS:
* pigmented wax for shaping
* natural-shaded powder for setting
* discreet tweezers
* hard angle brush
* blending brush
* complete lesson
This kit really does contain all you would need to perfect your brows, in one small compact you have tweezers which although they are small they are good tweezers, very handy for removing the odd stray hair. The kit also contains two brushes to apply the product, in an ideal world brushes would have longer handles for easier application but considering all these things come in one small compact it's perfect for your make-up bag or for travelling. The wax has a stiff consistancy so stays on well and also keeps all hairs in place and the powder is pigmented and helps to fill in any gaps. The brushes are the perfect size for applying the product precisely and getting the correct shape. The product once applied stays on all day and doesn't budge, the colours are very pigmented but also very soft and natural so no danger of developing a 'scouse brow'. I couldn't ask for anything more from a brow kit. The product has also won an award for 'Best Brow Fill' at the RSVP Beauty Awards in 2012.
This kit is available in light, medium and dark. I go for dark because my hair is very dark and I like quite a strong brow. I can't see finding a shade would be a problem for anyone.
HOW TO APPLY:
If you visit the Benefit website there is an illustrated guide on how to apply the product, when you purchase the kit it also comes with an instruction manual! You can't really go wrong! Although the guides says you should apply the wax first and then the powder, when I watched the Benefit consultant on QVC she said you can dip the brush in the wax then straight in the powder and apply both together and I personally prefer to do it this way, for one it's quicker and secondly I think you get a more natural result.
The kit comes in quite a plain black compact which is unusual for Benefit, the quirky title remains and the packaging is very useful. There is a mirror in the lid and it shuts nice and tight so you dont lose half the contents in your make-up bag.
VALUE FOR MONEY:
The kit will set you back £23.50 and I think considering the quality of the product and all the things you get included it's worth the price. You only need a tiny amount of product with each application so it does last a long time aswell.
An amazing brow kit which really does tick all the boxes! I highly recommend it and will not hesistate to repurchase!
A few months ago now I let my friend do my make-up for me for a night out and she filled my brows in - something I'd never bothered doing before. I couldn't believe how different it made me look, which sounds stupid I know but I loved how neat my eyebrows looked and how much more defined and flawless it made my whole eye area look.
I decided to buy a brow kit and after a bit of browsing I decided to treat my self to the Benefit brow zing kit, which includes pigmented wax, powder, two brushes (an angle brush and powder brush) and a pair of tweezers which all come in a square compact complete with a mirror. I forked out just under £24 for this, which is the full retail price, but it has been well worth it!
The first thing that I like about this brow kit is the packaging - it comes in a cute little square compact which is sturdy and good quality and the mirror inside is good quality and a good size. The pigmented wax comes in three different shades and I have it in the medium shade which is perfect for me, I have dark hair & quite dark brows but when I looked at the darkest shade it looked way too dark even for me.
The wax is just the right texture and I only need the smallest amount. Using it is really easy, I just use the angle brush to apply it to each eyebrow to get the shape i want and it slicks down my eyebrows making them look really neat and because the wax is tinted it defines them too. It doesn't make them look greasy or waxy or anything! Once I've used the wax I use the powder to keep it in place and the power is amazing quality, it is easy to work with and blends well. It stays in place all day without fading and it is surprisingly easy to remove.
The tweezers that come with the brow kit always come in handy for removing any stray hairs and they're really accurate and grip the hair well making removing the hairs nice and quick and easy. I absolutely love this brow kit and because I only need a small amount each time I use it I know it'll last me for ages.
I actually (stupidly) left this in the reach of my 16 month old little monster and within about 2 minutes while my back was turned he'd plastered it all over his forehead and eyebrows haha, it even got in his hair, obviously trying to copy mama and luckily it wasn't hard get off!! Thankfully he didn't use too much of it so I've still got enough left to last me for at least a couple of months so it's amazing value for money!
Five out of five stars.
I am so pleased I can write a review on this product and I say that because if you have sparing - overplucked eyebrows like me then I would strongly encourage you to go and get one!
There are 2 colours, dark, medium and light. I stick to the medium one now as depending on the amount you use you can darken or lighten. This kit comes with a colour and a wax. This kit seems pricey however it does last me about 7-9 months of daily use, as I never go out without it.
Just to mention the medium one has been fantastic as I have had black to blondy/caramel hair (&even red and purple in between!).
Theres a few ways you can use this but the wax is generally used to 'fix' the powder in place, this is great as it really does stay in place all day. If you want thicker brows as well you can add to the area around your normal brow and it just blends in well. You can use the wax first and add the powder on after or vice versa. You can also use the brush to mix the two so your applying both at the same time. Sometimes for a more natural look I just add the wax.
In comparison to a pencil i just think it fills in a lot better and I say that because a pencil tends to create the shape but can look very unatural where as this just makes your brows look fuller and as I explained I am talking from experience of my spacious (not bushy/thick) brows.
This kit comes with 2 brushes a straight and a slant, they are only small but enough for what you would want to use them for. The kit also comes with a little mirror so if you want to take it out with you to top up during the day you can as well.
If you want perfect eyebrows but don't want too much hassle to create them, then this is the ideal product. It is worth the money if you can afford to splash a few pounds. It lasts for a long time too. Eyebrows help to define and shape your face, so if you want to have defined eyebrows, this is definitely the product to go for. It has two very simple steps. Firstly, get an eyelash brush and brush your eyebrows across to straighten them out, then get the angled brush and simply sweep it across your eyebrow from the inside to outside with the dark wax. You then darken your eyebrows with the other brush and the light powder. (I use this to fill in the gaps where i have less hair on my eyebrows). I believe that my eyebrows are stunning because of this amazing benefit product. I use it every day and cannot live without it. It is so easy to use, and the great thing is, the lovely ladies at Benefit will give you a tutorial on how to use every product before you buy!!
I have brown hair and very light brown eyebrows!
Over the years I have tried pencils (rubs off too quick), tinting (way to dark!) and then I found Brow Zings. The combination of both the darker brow wax and lighter powder allows alot of room to get the colour just right. Both myself (who is fair) and my friend (who is olive skinned and has dark hair) swear by this product for our brows.
During the day I tend to only use the lighter powder so as to plump up my brows. Come the evening I like to have a more defined and stronger look to the brow to balance out my make up. The straight edge brush lets you shape the brow precisely building on the colour also. I even sometimes only use the wax section as it blends so well. Adding the lighter powder on top softens the brow to give that more natural look.
Overall I think the Brow Zings is well worth the buy. Benefit will also show you how to use the brushes and the colours to ensure you get it right once home.
Benefit is a high-end cosmetic brand that supplies skin care products, fragrances and make up. The brand is primarily aimed at teenagers and young adults hence the decorative, abstract packaging and trendy names. Benefit is a quality brand that comes with a large price tag, although their products do last quite a while and are of large quantity. Counters can be found in most large department stores (e.g John Lewis, Debenhams) and staff are always delighted to assist you. It's a superb brand and hits all the right notes with me.
I was debating whether to buy 'brow-zing' for a long time, I wasn't sure if it would be too dark for my fair complexion or look too 'made up' for everyday. Upon a trip to John Lewis, I was drawn to the Benefit counter for a gander. The sales assistant was very welcoming and helpful (although she was slightly clown-faced with about an inch of foundation and eyelashes that looked like spiders!) She sat me down on her pedistool, I about fell off it (cringe), and she gave me a tutorial on how to use the brow kit. It took no more than 3 minutes to transform my brows, and when she shown me the results I was more than impressed. So, I brought it of course! Although the brand is aimed at youngsters, my mother was about drooling over the pretty packaging, so I think anyone could pull Benefit off. With my purchase, I also received two large sample sized skincare products: the Benefit polish scrub and the moisturiser, which wasn't a bad deal. Overall, service at the Benefit counter is superb, staff are always willing to help and the display always looks immaculate, it almost draws you in.
Brow-Zing is used to create a professional brow. The kit includes a wax tint, a powder, an angled brush, a blending brush, tweezers, a compact mirror and a step-by-step tutorial. Benefit isn't tight with the content of their products, as you can see. All of this comes in a cute black, compact box with a retractable lid. The mirror is located inside of the lid; the brow wax and powder is inside the box and the tools are in a mini compartment beneath the wax. In colour, the box is black, and plastic. The brow wax is a glossy, medium brown and the pressed powder is a few shades lighter than a wax - a sort of light brown colour. These colours are multipurpose and I believe they could be used as eye shadows aswell. The brushes are small, about 5cm in length, the brush tip is yellow whilst the bottom stick is black. Very professional, expensive looking packaging with lots inside.
Product claims: 'This complete brow kit comes with all the tools you need for clean, smooth, perfect brows. Shape & define brows with the soft wax, then fill in sparse areas with the natural looking powder.'
Application is quick and relatively easy although you do need to practise it a few times to get it spot on. Take the angled brush and swipe a few times into the wax and follow your natural brow line, don't put too much wax on or it will look unnatural. You only need one layer of the wax. Then, take the blending brush and the pressed powder to shape and define the brows and also to fill in any sparse places to get a full brow. Again, do not overload the powder or it will look too fake, especially if you have fair hair like myself. The wax is used to hold the powder and also to keep the hairs in place all day. The wax is darker than the powder, and the powder is easy to make your brows look natural and soft. The wax and powder work perfectly together, they combine so easily and professional, defined looking brows can be done in a matter of minutes.
You can create many looks with the kit. I tend to opt for a blended, soft brow that's also shaped at the same time for everyday. But, if you want to vamp it up a little you can use a little more wax and draw some more powder on with the angled brush. Don't over do it though or you will look like a drag queen.
Brow-Zing comes in three shades. Light is for fair complexions and hair; Medium is for tanned, dark to medium hair and Dark is for dark skin or very dark hair. I have medium blonde hair with a fair complexion so the shade Light works great for me, it isn't too dark and compliments my colorings great. You still get the complete brow kit in each shade, just different colours of wax and powder. Therefore, Brow-Zing can work for everyone.
Shaping your eyebrows makes a huge difference to your overall look. It just frames your face, especially your eye area and just completes your look. Even if you have no eye makeup on, defined brows make you look amazing. I used to use MAC's Swiss Chocolate eyeshadow with an angled brush to do my eyebrows but I think Brow-Zing looks and applies so much better. The wax makes all the difference, it acts as sort of a primer to hold everything in place. The powder and wax work in harmony together, giving you the best possible results. I tend to apply my brows as the last step of my makeup routine, because otherwise my foundation runs into it and it might get a little messy and smeary.
Of course, this superb kit does come with the Benefit price tag, Brow-Zing retails at £22.50. Although it does seem alot, I think that it's great value for money just because you get the brushes included, the tweezers and the brow kit. Buying all of these utensils separately would cost much more, so this is reasonably good value for a product that actually works. If your not convinced, just visit your local Benefit counter and the staff will be more than happy to give a tutorial or match you up to an appropriate shade for your eyebrows. Plus, this product will last over a year as the wax and powder supply is ample considering you only need a little bit each day to work with.
In conclusion, I couldn't be happier with this product! The powder is easily dupable as a crease colour in your eyeshadow, and the wax could defiantly be used as a liquid liner. I can't comprehend how professional my brows look after using this. The packaging is lovely, but remember to clean your brushes when appropriate. The wax is fragrance free and is easily roved with a baby wipe, vaseline or makeup remover. I was also happy with the service that I received from Benefit - so friendly! You can also buy this from the Benefit online store or on eBay but beware for fakes. I would urge anyone to buy this, I've never looked back.
Fantastic buy, and it has become one of my essential makeup items in my ever-growing kit. 5 stars!
After hearing my sister go on and on about how nice my eyebrows would look if I bought an eyebrow pencil, I saved up some money to go one step better and invest in Brow Zings, after a quick demonstration at the beauty counter (which was free)! I was amazed at how defined it makes your eyebrows and it gives you a totally different look. I use it everyday, and still get comments about how nice my eyebrows look!
I always do demonstrations for my Mum and Sister and recommend it to everyone. Although it is quite expensive, it is well worth the money and I'm told lasts for a good few years!
The kit comes with a useful 'lesson' on how to apply Brow Zings, and some brilliant little tweezers to pluck away any stray hairs! It also comes in 3 colour shades, light, medium and dark and a brow wax to keep hairs in place. So it doesn't matter what shade of hair you have!
As soon as mine runs out, I will be sure to replace it!
Benefit are a brand that produce really innovative products that I consider to be more like tools to improve your face, as appose to make up. They do a fantastic range of products, pretty much anything you could think of in every shade possible! They are a really vibrant brand that to me literally screams 'BUY ME!'.
This product is no exception. I spoke to the Benefit consultant and mentioned that my eyebrow pencil was running out - it is by Bourjois and although its a high street brand which I have recently tried to move away from, I can't complain as it was a great price and has lasted me well over a year. The consultant informed me that they had only one shade of pencil in stock which was too light for me, but recommended this as an alternative. Initially I wasn't over struck as its a different design to what I'm used to and hardly a pencil. It comes in a compact with some small tweezers, a wax powder and a colour as well as two brushes. It looked nice, but to me seemed a little bulky in comparison to the average eyebrow pencil. Despite this, I asked the consultant to demonstrate it on my eyebrows so I could see what it looked like anyway and I was really impressed.
The wax flattens the eyebrow hairs and has a slight colour to it, but the powder is the bit that does the real trick for me. It fills in all the gaps in your brows and gives them more of an overall colour. This is great for me as my eyebrows are quite gappy, as strange as it sounds they have always been like this and it has bothered me for quite some time. My eyebrow pencil did cover it but not as well as this product. It gives a great colour to your brows without looking false and too shapely. It gives a really natural overall effect and I can happily say this product is well worth its £22.50 price tag! My eyebrows have honestly never looked so good. Its such a good idea and I'm so glad I asked!
Every 3-4 weeks I get my eyebrows threaded as I love my eyebrows to look groomed and nicely shaped. I can't stand bushy eyebrows on women or men.
My hair is a darker brown than my eyebrows and my eyebrows are slightly darker where the bridge of my nose is and go slightly lighter towards my temples. So on one visit to get my eyebrows threaded I asked for them to dye them too so they matched my hair and were all one shade. OH MY GOD!! I don't know if they used a wrong shade or if they left the dye on too long but I have pale complexion and ended up with BIG BLACK brows. A nightmare!! Especially as it didn't start wearing off for 2 weeks so now I refuse to have them died and prefer to use cosmetics which cleans/washes off to finish my eyebrows.
When in Boots one day after just having my brows threaded I passed the Benefit stand and asked them if they had something that could darken my brows a bit and even them out to one shade. The girl sat me down and tried one of their eye pencils on one brow and used the Brow Zings on the other. I purchased the Brow Zings staight away!!
Brow Zings is a little black compact which houses a coloured wax and a coloured powder. It has 2 small brushes, one with a slanted edge and the other a round ended brush. It also has a tiny set of tweezers to pluck any stray hairs. The Brow Zings comes in 3 different shades: light, medium and dark. I purchased the light and it cost I think about £22. I can't remember the exact price as I have had mine for a good 9 months and I still have plenty of wax and powder left.
So in the box (which I threw away on purchase) you also get a little leaflet which explains that you use the slanted brush to pick up some of the wax. You then gently sweep the brush over your eyebrows. This wax will darken your brows, fill them in if they are sparse and define the shape of your eyebrows. After doing this you then use the powder on the rounder brush and again sweep over the brows. The powder agains slightly darkens the look and sets the wax.
Most days when I am going to work I just use the wax and go. But if I'm going out I use the powder too for a stronger defined look. If you don't use the powder I do find the wax may need re-applying later in the day as it doesn't have massive staying power, as the powder helps to keep the wax in place. I don't use the tweezers for normal use as they are a bit small and can be awkward to use, but I don't have the smallest hands so that probably doesn't help.
I have tried pencils and brow liners from MAC but find they give a fake look and it's hard not to end up with visible lines, but using Brow Zings and using a brushing technique to apply it gives a more natural look. I do think the product is a little pricey but compared to what you'd pay for a brow pencil/powder but it has lasted me some time and it'll be a while before I need to buy some more!!
Being super pale, I have never had much in the way of eyebrows and have tried many tricks over the years to add to the illusion that I have lovely, eye-framing brows.
Without a bit of colour, I look scarily like I have no eyebrows, so it was always something I was keen to perfect.
A few years ago I got bored of eyebrow pencils and the like, and started seeking alternatives, which is when I stumbled across this product from Benefit.
Unlike most other Benefit products, Brow Zings does not come in funky, bright packaging, and instead is encased in boring black plastic.
The kit is a little square shape, perfect for popping in your make-up bag, and comes with a mirror in the lid, and two compartments containing a dark gloss, and a slightly lighter powder. There are also two little brushes and a tiny tweezers.
The tweezers are completely pointless and are too small, blunt and fiddly to be of any use at all. The brushes could also do with being a bit larger, to make them easier to hold, but the product itself makes up for these little niggles.
The idea is that you use the rounded brush to apply a dab of gloss on each eyebrow to shape and groom, and then use the angled brush to add a bit of powder for definition and colour density.
The combination works really well and is by far the most natural effect I have ever achieved using an eyebrow product like this.
The colour lasts a reasonable time, certainly a few hours or more, and is quick and easy to apply.
This product comes in different shades, and I use the fair one, being blonde and pale.
One other niggle is that unless you have strong nails, this compact can be difficult to open sometimes as it has a groove you need to press, and the whole compact is a little small.
It also costs quite a lot - around £20 or more. On the plus side though it does last a long time. My last one lasted 18 months of everyday use, and would probably lasted a little longer, had I not dropped it on the floor and smashed the powder bit! I don't want to contemplate the bacteria on there though after all this time though...
So all in all, I find this an excellent product. Yes, there could be improvements to its design, but the desired effect is strong, natural and healthy looking brows, so I'm happy to carry on using it as it is the best I have found in my search so far.
When brows are your wow / show them off by using the best kit available / The split pan contains shaded brow wax for shaping, filling-in and extending / The complementing powder is the overcoat / keeping them up and smooth all day / With accessory tweezers and brushes, this little set is a powerhouse for brows /
