Benefit Cabana Glama
Advantages: It has good quality products and everything you need
Disadvantages: The price and you can't choose the shades so they might not suit you
I love Benefits product but if there's something I love more then it's their kits. It gives you a change to try a variety of products that you may not already own without having to buy the expensive full sized version. It also allows you to carry everything that you need to improve your make up in one handy box. The Cabana Glama is their newest creation.
What does the product do? The product is described as being your destination kit for when you go on holidays or just for those who love to glow all year round. It promises to both brighten and bronze the skin making you look sun kissed and radiant all year long. The kit comes with a full guide and instruction on how to apply each of the products in the most beneficial way.
What is included? The product contains a lot of the popular products by Benefit. In your set you will find the Hoola Bronzing Powder, Some Kind-a Gorgeous foundation, Posietint, three eyeshadows, a sponge applicator and a bronzer brush.
Hoola Bronzing Powder
Hoola is one of the darkest bronzers in Benefits collection but it still looks fine on my pale skin. You can build up the colour by applying more and more if you need it to be darker. This sounds bad but the colour verges on dirty and it doesn't leave a natural appearance but it still looks nice. The bronzer has a matte finish and it is completely shimmer free. It has a silky consistency which makes it easy to blend into the skin so you won't have any harsh edges to deal with. The powder has really good staying power so you won't need to apply more throughout the day. The brush which is included is perfect for applying the bronzer with as it gives you a nice sweep across the cheek bones. The bronzer could be used all over but its too dark for me to use the product like this so I just sweep it onto the cheekbones, chin and nose which is where I would naturally catch the sun.
Some Kind-a Gorgeous
Some Kind-a Gorgeous is described as being a foundation faker and normally is come in three different shades. The one included here is the medium shade which unfortunately is probably too dark for me. I may be able to use it if I get a tan in the summer but it's currently too dark. This was a shame because the product sounded right up my street. It's oil free and it is designed to cover up imperfections and improve the complexion. It has a silky consistency which is creamy when you apply it to the skin but it ends up with a powdery finish which is great for my oily skin. It feels nice when you apply the product but after a while, it did start to feel greasy and it made my skin shiny and unclean. It doesn't cover up imperfections and has a short life on my skin. You can apply the product using your fingers or a sponge but if I'm honest it doesn't matter than this product isn't in my shade because I don't want to use it!
Posietint is a product with two purposes. It is a liquid gel that has been designed to add a touch of pink to the lips and to brighten the cheeks. The product comes with in a tube which looks like a little lip gloss and you need to dot some of the gel onto the cheeks and lips and then blend in the product by dabbing it. This is one of my favourite products in the kit because it has good staying power and it makes a difference to the complexion quickly. The colour is buildable so you can adapt it to your needs and it looks really pretty and natural. The colour may not be intense enough for those who like a really deep blush but for those who want a subtle flush, it's perfect. When used on the lips, it looks really pretty with a gloss on top.
The kit comes with three different coloured eye shadows which Peach Fuzz, Bronze Buzz and Cocoa Pizzazz. The three shades are a good choice because the peach can be used beneath the brows to highlight the bone, the bronze can be used on the lid and the cocoa looks nice on the outer corner. The kit includes a soft sponged double ended applicator with which you can apply the shadow. The one side is slightly thinner for a more precise finish. The colours are silky and leave a matte finish which doesn't crease and they have good staying power. They are highly pigmented and the colour can be built up nicely. The colour is long lasting but it is still easily removed with my usual cleanser.
Packaging and Price
The kit looks really pretty and cool. The box is yellow with Cabana written on the front and inside the words are pictures of a paradise island. The box has a flip top lid with a mirror inside and all the product are set into the bottom. The powder, the foundation and eye shadows are easy to access but the Posietint and the eye shadow brush can be a bit of a pain to remove from the box which is annoying. The box is quite hard so it keeps the products safe. The kit is fairly expensive and will cost you around £28 but you get quite a bit for your money, providing that you want to use everything that is inside. It can be bought from department stores such as Boots, large supermarkets and from a few online websites.
All in all, this is a great kit if the products suit the colour of your skin. If you're pale like me then some of the items may be a little too dark. The products are all of a high quality and most of them are long lasting. The kit includes nearly everything that you need to do your make up on the go other than maybe mascara so it is a useful thing to have and it will fit nicely in your handbag. I probably wouldn't repurchase the product but I will continue to use it until it's all gone.
Summary: A handy little kit which allows you to look bronzed and sun kissed in a flash
