Advantages: Great Gloss, Makes My Lips Look Great, Great Over Lip Colour Or Alone, Minty Freshness
Disadvantages: Price & Doesn't Make My Teeth Look Any Better IMO!
Just after Christmas I got a load of vouchers for make-up at Debenhams so I decided it would be a good idea to get some items from ranges that I dont normally try such as Urban Decay, Too Faced & Benefit and Ive been using those products ever since but oddly never got around to writing about them but as today Im attempting to get all my lip product reviews out the way I cant think of a more perfect time to start and I plan on starting with this one "Benefit California Kissin'" which attracted my attention for loads of reasons but mainly because I was really interested in whether this would do as it promised - the claims just seemed way too good to be true!
Useful Information:
Price: Around £7
Stockists: Debenhams, House Of Fraser, Amazon ETC
For: Giving a healthy shin and gloss to your lips, can be used as a base or over the top of lip colour, freshens breath & makes your teeth appear whiter! Sounds really good doesnt it? But I reckon most people will be like me and wonder how on earth it managed to do all those things.
This gloss comes in a small blue and green tube with a slightly angled applicator which the gloss comes out of when you squeeze the tube - a lot like toothpaste. I know some people apply this with a brush but I really dont see the point that just seems like unnecessary effort when theres no need for it. The gloss goes on evenly and doesnt go all over your face when you apply it using the tube so my advice is dont faff around using a brush. The gloss itself is normal consistency - looks nice and runny but isnt and isnt so thick you cant get it out the tube and dont worry even though this is said to have a blue tinge (to make your teeth appear whiter) the gloss is totally clear to the naked eye - well maybe a slight shimmer but thats it!
Now being honest there are parts about this that I really like and others that I cant quite figure out whether they work. For starters I love the way this looks on my lips when I use it alone. I think this gives me the perfect polished pout look as my lips look proper glossy but feel really hydrated and moisturised at the same time - I dont find may glosses that do that. Over lip colour it is okay no different to any other gloss though I dont think and using it as a base doesnt work at all its simply to slippery and runny for that.
The mintiness is a very nice change and I believe it actually does help t freshen your breath great if your out and about and have forgotten the chewing gum and although you can only smell/taste the mint for a few minutes I believe it does carry on working after that. Sadly though I dont think this helps give the illusion that I have whiter teeth. Although I have been a smoker for many years and a regular coffee and fizzy pop drinker my teeth arent that stained so they dont need too much help to look whiter and they looked the same to me when I used this so in short I dont think this did live up to all its promises. I dont think a lipgloss can give you whiter teeth - it didnt on me anyway.
Sadly this didnt live up to may of its claims but its a nice change on my normal gloss anyway what with the added minty freshness but as a whitening gloss I dont think it works. If your looking for an everyday lip gloss then I do recommend this to an extent but if you want whiter teeth use something else!
