Benefit California Kissin'
Advantages: Nice minty smell and taste
Disadvantages: Very sticky
I bought this Benefit lip gloss during a bit of a make up spending spree while on my recent holiday to New York. The lip gloss is called "California Kissin'."
The first thing you will notice about this lip gloss is the colour of it, which is bright blue. The lip gloss itself comes in a sturdy blue box with the product information on it. Inside the box is the lip gloss tube. The tube itself is made of clear plastic meaning you can see the blue lip gloss inside. The lid of the lip gloss screws on and off and underneath the lid is a slanted applicator.
When you squeeze out the lip gloss you will see that it is a blue shimmery colour. You can apply the gloss using either the slanted applicator or by squeezing it onto your finger and rubbing it on to your lips. The lip gloss smells minty and slightly sweet.
Benefit say that the blue sheen of this lip gloss will make your teeth appear whiter. So does it work? I was initially worried about applying this lip gloss as I didn't want my lips to look blue! When I applied this to my lips I found that the lip gloss gave a clear shimmer. The lip gloss is quite thick and gloopy however it does spread across your lips easily. I did not think that this gloss lived up to its claims of making my teeth look whiter.
This lip gloss feels quite sticky on my lips and my hair gets easily stuck to them when wearing this. The first time I wore this lip gloss my lips felt slightly tingly due to it being minty, however as I got used to it and wore it more they didn't tingle so much! When you are wearing this gloss you can taste the mint quite strongly, although I would not go as far as to say it freshens breath. The gloss also has a slightly sweet taste if you lick your lips.
This lip gloss can be worn both over and under lipstick as per Benefit, however I have only worn it on its own. I don't imagine lipstick would go on easily over the top of this gloss as it is so sticky, however I suppose I can't judge as I haven't tried this!
This lip gloss is available at anywhere that stocks Benefit products and costs £14.00 for a 12.5g tube. Overall given the fact that this lip gloss is quite sticky and doesn't add any colour to your lips, I feel that it is overpriced. It is probably not a lip gloss I would buy again!
Thanks for reading/rating and I hope you found my review useful.
Summary: A bit of a novelty product
