Benefit Concealer Brush
Advantages: soft on skin, easy to hold
Disadvantages: still need to use fingers to blend in, very expensive
I was talked into buying this brush when I purchased Benefit Erase Paste concealer as she showed me how to use the brush and it seemed really good. However, I soon learned that sales assistants are paid to make the brushes look very useful but in fact I really do not use this that much anymore. I am a very big fan of Benefit cosmetics and I use concealer daily mainly under my eyes to stop me from looking tired but it is much easier to pat it on with your fingertips than use this brush as it is never smooth.
The brush comes in a plastic pocket with a design on it and the brush itself is quite classy looking. It has a cream handle on it that has the Benefit logo on it and 'concealer' on it and then has a metal body to the top with dark yellow coloured bristles at the top. It is quite small and very light and easy to hold and it does look nice. The brush fits in with the other Benefit brushes in terms of appearance if you were to buy anymore but it is good that you can keep it clean and protected in the plastic pocket.
The brush to look at is nice enough but the price of it is very high. The best thing about it, is the bristles are really soft and very smooth to touch which is probably the high quality that you pay for. The brush aims to apply and blend any concealer and as I mentioned before I use the Erase Paste concealer as this is to be used with cream concealers which is what that is. It is for flawless, concentrated coverage and this is what the sales assistant showed me at the time and it looked good.
To use this, I dipped my brush lightly into the concealer pot and put a small amount on by lightly patting it on the under eye area. You need to watch how you use this as you do not want brush stroke lines or you will look ridiculous. The brush does apply the concealer but I sill had to use my finger to pat the area and just even out the small lines left from brushing the concealer on. It is easy to apply with this but just quite fussy to achieve the desired look.
When using this brush, it can get dirty quite easily and it is easy enough to wash. You can clean it by using soap and water on it as is recommended and it will run clear the water when the concealer is fully rinsed out. However, it does take a good while for the brush to dry so do it before a day that you do not need to use the brush. My brush always comes up clean and good as knew and I keep it in the plastic pocket to protect it from any dust and dirt.
I think this brush is easy to use BUT I just don't like how it looks on when you use it. I find my finger is softer to apply concealer but the brush is soft on skin and very gentle. If you have a lot of time to apply then this may be what you want but I usually want to apply concealer quickly and find this a hassle. It does not apply concealer flawlessly like it says and is a bit disappointing for the money but I keep it for the odd time when I feel like using this if I have more time.
You can buy the Benefit concealer brush from all Benefit counters usually in Debenhams and other department stores. Boots sell it for £15.50 which is the standard RRP and also they are offering 750 points with three or more purchases across all premium brands.
The Benefit website is http://www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk where you can buy this.
