I first used this product in a smokey eye palette that I bought from a Benefit counter. There was a small little tray of this and instructions on how to apply it. I loved the product so much I went out and bought the pencil soon after as I wanted to see if the pencil form was better.

I have had mixed results with benefit products but continuously return to their counters as I am drawn in by the bright colours and the promise of amazing products. There are a few firm favourites that I have found to be great quality and value for money as they are so long lasting. These are the products I return time and time again to buy from them but I am always really tempted when new things come out because I want to see if they are a new and undiscovered firm favourite. I was pleased to be able to test out this product before hand in a mixed palette of their products because it meant when I shelled out for the full sized thing I already knew I really liked it. My advice would be to test as much in store as possible as the sales assistants do tend to be very accommodating with the samples - or buy the palette like I did and test a few different products at once.

The eye bright pencil comes in a cardboard box which is black with pink writing. I love the designs that benefit use on their products, they always look very luxurious but manage to stay young and fresh at the same time. This is no exception, the pencil is black with a black plastic end and lid. The pencil itself is quite thick and can be sharpened to ensure continuous use of it. The design of the pencil is really great, attractive and functional. It is easy to hold and apply. My only criticism would be that the thickness of the pencil means a standard sized pencil sharpener can't be used - you need a large one or a double one. This isn't too much of an issue for me as I own one already but perhaps a little irritating if you don't. That said the size of the pencil actually makes it easier to apply so I would rather it was this thick than a thinner standard eye liner pencil.

Applying the pencil is really easy to do and it can be used for a couple of different purposes. I love to find a product that is versatile as you feel as though you get more for your money. It always saves space when travelling if you have a product that can perform multiple make up tricks. The eye bright formula is similar to a soft eye liner in consistency and is really easy to apply. I tend to use it on the inner rim of my eye and in the corner to achieve a really lovely bright look to your eyes. It makes the colour of your iris really pop and just helps to accentuate your eye make up. The effect really is instant and lasts for ages, as does the pencil. You barely apply any and the look is instant. This means that the pencils lasts for absolutely ages - I can't see myself having to replace it for a couple of years to be honest. You can also use this product to help highlight certain areas e.g under your eyebrow or around your eyes. All you do is apply it and then blend it in with a fingertip. The pale pink colour blends well with flesh tones and gives and instantly brighter look to any area of skin.

In terms of price you will find yourself paying around £14.00 for a 1.4g pencil. I think this is an absolutely bargain because I've been using mine for well over a year and barely had to sharpen it. It really does last for ages and therefore certainly offer value for money. I tend to use it mainly when I am going out in the evening so if you use it everyday you might find it runs out slightly more quickly. However, I still think it will last you at least a years worth of use which is great for any product.

Overall, this is an absolutely make up staple for me and I not hesitate in recommending it. I've never found a cheaper version that lives up to this one.
