I love wearing make up but I tend to wear it to cover imperfections and to enhance my features rather than wearing lots of bright colours and making it look obvious that I've got a face full of the stuff on. I love Benefits products and I have purchased a few of their mini sets which I find a good way to test out a bundle of their products without paying the full price. This is why I chose Finding Mr Bright.
What does the set do?
The product promises to leave you with a bright and illuminated complexion which looks awakened, healthy and full of vitality. It comes with a step by step guide explaining how you can use the products to achieve the look and you can use all the products together, at home or on the go, to make you look instantly healthier.
Within the set you get Girl Meets Pearl, Posietint, High Beam and Erase Paste.
Girl Meets Pearl
This product promises to brighten the complexion and to give the appearance that it is glowing from within as opposed to something which has been applied to the skin. It is essentially a liquid highlighter. It can be applied onto bare skin, dabbed onto the top of make up or mixed in with your foundation. It is pink and pearly in colour. The product glides onto the skin easily and you can blend the product in.
It has a pearly, shiny, almost shimmery finish and it is not something that I would ever apply to my whole face. It has a pinky gold colour which is subtle and I find it works nicely on the cheek bones and brow bones as a highlighter. The product is quite dressy and better suited to the night rather than the day. This mini ones comes in a little plastic bottle with a black screw top lid. The full priced one would cost you around £24.
This product is like a liquid blusher which promises to give a pearly pink flush to the cheeks. It promises to blend seemlessly into the complexion leaving behind a natural pop of colour on the skin. You are directed to draw three lines onto the apple of your cheeks and then to blend them into the skin quickly before the formula dries. The colour is buildable and it promises to give long lasting results. It can be worn alone or on top of your make up as a finishing touch.
The product looks a little like a mini nail varnish and it has a similar brush inside attached to the lid. It is a runny liquid but it is easy to draw onto the skin and as long as you blend the product quickly, it is easy to work with. The colour is evident and although it looks natural, it is obviously there so may not be subtle enough for some. I do like it however and for those who like a truly evident blush then you can apply more on top to get a deeper colour. It feels gentle on the skin and hasn't irritated my face at all. It has long lasting results and it is easily removed using my usual make up remover. A full sized bottle will cost you £24.
This product is described as being a luminescent complexion enhancer and it has been designed to highlight the cheek and brow bones. It is a liquid product which is pale pink in colour and it promises to leave you looking perfectly radiant. You are directed to dot some of the product onto your cheek and brow bones and then blend the product in. It can be worn alone or as a finishing touch to your make up. The product leaves a lovely pink shimmer to the skin that you notice as it catches the light and it is a really pretty product on the skin. It is natural looking but still very pretty, and it suitable for both day and night wear. The product is easy to use, gentle on my skin and doesn't cause me to develop any blemishes. The results are long lasting and you only need to use a small amount of the product at all time. A full sized pot would cost you around £19.
This is described as being a creamy concealer which will cover your blemishes, hide discoloration and also brighten dark under eye circles. The product only comes in three shades anyone but in this set, you don't get to choose which shade you get and unfortunately, mine is too dark for my skin tone. The product is a very thick concealer and it is almost like a paste. It definitely covered my spots completely but because the shade was too dark, you could see the concealer on my skin instead. The product is creamy but I didn't find it creamy enough to work on the skin under my eyes and because it is thick, it settles into my fine lines and looked heavy on the skin. A full sized pot would cost you around £19.
Packaging and Price
The set in contained within a hot pink box with a flip top lid. There are lots of stick people on the front and the product name is written in capitals on the front. There is a mirror inside the lid so that you can apply the product on the go and the inside is decorated with lots of hearts. The products are settled into holes with the box and they are quite easy to get out although it is a pain if your nails aren't long, especially with the highbeam. Obviously the products within this set are mini sized but they are mostly packaged the same as their larger family members. To buy the set it will cost you around £28 and it can be bought from department stores with a Benefit counter and also from a range of online websites.
All in all, individually, I really like the High Beam and the Posie Tint. The Erase Paste covers blemishes well but the shade included was too dark for my pale skin and I liked the Girl meets Pearl for use on the cheek bones. My problem with the set is that three of the four product are used on the cheekbones and you can't really use them all at the same time. Most Benefit sets enhance the whole face so this was a little disappointing. The products are mostly lovely as individuals but as a set, this doesn't really work for me.
This little kit from Benefit Cosmetics compromises of four sample sized products.
I bought this as an introduction to their range as I was unsure which products would suit me.
You get the following items:
High Beam - This is a cheek highlighter. It helps to define the cheekbones whilst leaving you with a slimmer look. It's easy to apply thanks to it's creamy rich formula. It's a small bottle but you only need one or two dots each time that you apply it. It dries quickly and it lasts all day. A great product overall.
Erase Paste - This stuff is great for dark circles and tired looking eyes. You can apply it straight from the container with your fingertips or you can apply it with a small brush. It conceals dark circles really well, leaving you with a more energized complexion. Another fantastic product. It lasts ages too.
Posie Tint: This is a gorgeous tint for lips and cheeks. It has a real pinky colour to it and it makes a lovely blusher. Simply apply a dot or two to your cheekbones and blend in. It also makes a lovely lip gloss. Just brush it on and the gloss lasts all day, perfect!
Girl Meets Pearl: A gorgeous face primer to brighten the skin. I wear this alone when I can't be bothered to apply foundation. It gives my skin a lovely natural glow. I also wear it under make-up as a primer. It helps your make-up to last longer.
This is a lovely little kit from Benefit Cosmetics. It's around £16 to buy.
Got this as a gift from a friend as she knows my obsession with Benefit products. If there is one thing that I love about Benefit the most, it is the stunning visual presentation of all its products. This one "Finding Mr Bright" includes four products, 2 of them (high beam and erase paste) I use everyday since! I am going to talk about the four products one by one.
Erase paste: Very tiny bottle, but even after a month of using it everyday I find that I haven't even used up half of the bottle! A little goes a long way with this one. And it is truly "industrial strength" as it is advertised... I use it to cover dark circles under my eyes and it works like a charm! Would not falter even after a 10-hour day outside!
High Beam: I have always used this product to highlight the bridge of my nose and my brow bones - it definitely draws light on your face, making your features very well defined! I have tried using it on my cheekbones too but I prefer using a proper blush instead of High beam. This product is more like a highlighter, and a very good one at that!
Posietint Poppy-Pink Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain - I don't use this one at all, because I don't like the colour and I find that it doesn't really last very long especially when I put it on my lip. I actually don't use any lip product from Benefit, as I think there are definitely better alternatives out there.
Girl meets Pearl - I guess this also functions as a highlighter. I like it, but I prefer the high beam more. Because girl meets pearl is a bit too glittery for my liking. I think that this would work better for people with fair skin, but I have quite tanned skin so maybe it doesn't look as good on me as high beam.
