I love love love Benefit products! Many a man will tell you that you're paying for the cute packaging but in my experience you need to spend that little bit extra for make-up that lasts all day and does what it says on the tin - Benefit certainly does this... and yes, the pretty packaging does brighten up my make up bag!
Having tried the Benefit Bad Gal black mascara before and concluded that this was one of the best quality mascaras on the market, I decided to give the 'Get Bent' version a try. The product specification claims that the 'scientific angle' of the brush allows you to reach every last lash and act like a 'push up bra for the eye'.
So how does a bent brush more effectively curl eye-lashes than a straight one? Well, it doesn't. I honestly can't see how this is an improvement on a standard mascara brush - in fact I find that the 'scientific angle' results in blobs of mascara clogging up the top of the bottle as they are dragged out in excess. Yes it is long lasting, it doesn't clump on application and does look fantastic, but take my advice and stick to the old fashioned Bad Gal mascara - if it's not broken, don't fix it.
I bought this product in the hope that I would have the beautifully curled and lengthened lashes that I have always wanted.
I have to say, my initial reaction to it was really good... it really did help to push up my lashes! However, in my excitement, I had put it on as soon as I had bought it, so it was over the top of another mascara. I found that when I put it on on bare lashes, it undid all of the good work that my lash curlers had done and the wet formula just straightened them!
After I'd had the mascara for a little while it became increasingly difficult to use due to the shape of the brush which made application quite awkward.
As with most Benefit products, the packing was really appealing and humourous and would look good in anyones make up bag.
All in all, the mascara did help to lengthen and volumise my lashes but not quite to the effect that had been promised to me on the packaging and that I had hoped for. However, if you have naturally curly lashes I think it would work very well as the formula wouldn't straighten the curl you (very luckily) already have.
Benefit Get Bent mascara is an excellent example of how Benefit produce make up which is slightly different to its competitors.
The brush on this mascara is, as the name suggests, slights bent. This design feature is meant to allow the user to reach all of the eye lashes evenly, whilst lifting, lengthening and curling. Further the mascara itself - a jet black - contains something which is meant to hold the eye lashes in their new curl. The actual brush is full and bristly (rather than comb or plastic) which is the style I prefer as I find that is allows a good amount of the mascara to be applied.
Not as long lasting a product as the others I have tried by Benefit, however the mascara does not cost as much compared to other mascara brands in this price range as the other Benefit products tend to do.
I'm addicted to mascara however I am still yet to find the perfect mascara (hence why I wear false eyelashes regularly). As I am still searching for the perfect mascara I like to try new brands. One of my favourites that I tried in 2009 was Benefit Get Bent Mascara.
The Benefit Get Bent Mascara comes in a 6.5g cylinder tube. This is a silver metallic colour with Benefit Get Bent Mascara written in curvy black font. The top of the tube screws off to reveal a slightly odd looking mascara wand. The brush at the end of the mascara wand is standard sized with lots of bristle on the brush however this is angled upwards at a 45 degree angle.
The thought behind this design is to give lashes extra lift and volume.
A 6.5g tube of Benefit Get Bent Mascara costs £14.50 from Boots. This is a more expensive product and quite pricey for mascara. It is however a very effective product and worth spending more on as it certainly creates longer thicker looking lashes. I do find however that this mascara does work out to be quite an expensive purchase if used regularly as the mascara dries up quickly therefore means that you need to purchase a tube every two months as the mascara brush and around the lid ends up with lots of clumpy dried mascara stuck to it.
***Application & Look***
Benefit Get Bent Mascara is described to be " a whole new era of mascara. The scientifically angled brush literally lifts, lengthens and curls.... It's a push up bra for your lashes."
The mascara is very easy to apply to eyes. The mascara is a glossy black colour which is brushed through lashes very easily. I would definitely agree that the brush lifts lashes as the angle of the brush coats the underneath of the lash right up to the tip of the lash. This helps lashes curve upwards yet adds length to your lashes. I have quite long lashes naturally however I felt this Benefit mascara added length, but did not make my lashes look spindly. The glossy black mascara also thickens your eyelashes but does not create a stuck together clumpy look. Each lash is coated individually and if you do like quite a dramatic thick look with mascara but applying a few coats you can create quite thick black lashes without all of your lashes being stuck together.
I did find however that after 2 months the mascara had dried up considerably meaning that around the lid and on the brush there were clumps of mascara. This meant that when I tried to apply the mascara I ended up with clumps in my lashes, therefore it was essential to replace the mascara.
The product stays on eyes and does not smudge but is easily removed with make up wipes and make up remover. You do not need to scrub eyes like you do with some mascara to remove it. It is also suitable for contact lens wearers and does not irritate eyes.
This is a very good mascara for creating both added length and added thickness. The mascara is a glossy black colour which coats lashes without making them look heavy a clumpy. The brush makes lashes look uplifted and creates a wide eyed fluttery, separated look for lashes.
The downside to the product is that the mascara dries up quite quickly so you find clumps on the brush after around 2 months, meaning that if you continue to use you end up with clumps of mascara on your lashes.... Which is not a good look!
The price of the mascara is quite steep for some and I know many people will find that £14.50 for mascara is expensive but the results are superior to other mascaras that I have used.
If you want to treat yourself then "Get Bent!".
Over the years, I have tried many a different mascaras from many different companies, and have had different degrees of happiness and sucess with them. My favourite so far has become Benefit Get Bent Lash. I am a long term user of Benefit Cosmetics, and for those who do not know what Benefit is, it's a company born from the minds of the Ford Twins, in Indiana, USA, in 1976. It is now a world wide company, that caters for every cosmetic need of every woman.
Billed as being a push-up bra for your lashes, it truly does what it says and then some. I am a long time user of benefit make-up, but had never tried their mascaras until a friend bought me this as a gift one day.
I have naturally quite short, thin lashes, but when I apply this, it looks like I have put on some falsh lashes, and thats without having to apply loads of the mascara. I usually have to take ages to apply mascara, piling it on thick to have a good effect, but with Get Bent, it takes a fraction of the time. I have found my mascara application time now takes a fraction of the time it did before with other mascaras.
The mascara comes in a long, silver tube. The top screws off easily, but is easy to secure again when you have used it, so that you can be sure you won't return to a dried out tube of mulch. The words Get Bent Lash are printed on the tube in a black, swirly font. The wand and brush inside the tube are really long, and easy to use as they are light weight and flexible.
The application is made really easy too, thanks mostly to the slightly longer brush head, and the bent angle to the head which gives the mascara its name. This makes it so much easier to get right into the roots of the lashes and give them the proper lift they need, whilst coating each lash evenly for a flawless, sexy finish to really make your eyes stand out. I have never had any problems with clumping when I use this mascara, which is something I have had problems with before.
I have found that this mascara lasts me around 5 months, which I think is a brilliant length of time for a mascara to last. No other mascara I have used before has lasted this long, and I use my mascara on a daily basis. I think it lasts so long as you barely have to use any each time that you use it.
The only downside to this product is that it can be quite costly, but it does last a good while, and the effects it has on my lashes, I am happy to pay for it, although there are shops online that will sell it to you cheaper than what you can get it for from a Benefit Cosmetics counter. If you buy it from Benefit, either from their counters, boutiques or website, this will cost you £18. It is a high price tag, but it is worth the money. There are sites online that will sell you it for around £11, but you can never be too sure if these items are indeed genuine Benefit items, so be wary of where you buy it from.
I truly love this mascara and I wouldn't use anything else now, so do yourself a favor and at least give it a try, I can assure you, you will love the results as much as I do. I am happy to give Get Bent Lash a 5 out of 5, I just wish I could give it more. 100% Recommended.

Having tried and tested many of the high street mascara brands I was expecting Benefit Get Bent to be just another mascara to leave me with a dissapointing hole in my pocket.
But alas for my eyelashes it has turned out to be a blessing disguised as a bent wand.
Benefit is a well known brand that can be found in most department stores as well as Boots, It has achieved cult status in many fashion magazines for some of its amazing products and now this fab mascara can be added to the list. The name of the product comes from the shape of the mascara wand, it has an angled wand to give extra lift.
This mascara is said to be a push up bra for your lashes and promises to lift, lengthen and curl your eyelashes. And belive it or not is does perform to its high expectations. I luckily already have long black lashes but I like my mascar to give them extra oomph, and get bent definately does this. It made my lashes longer, fuller and best of all clump free!! I tend to do one coat then when dry use an eyelash comb to seperate and then add another coat at the corners. Whereas some people like their lashes to look what I can only discribe as spiders legs I like them to look full with each lash defined rather than stuck together and this mascara defintely does that. I have had several people ask me if i'm wearing falsh lashes when using this mascara, and the only way to prove I'm not is to let them have a little tug on my lashes!!! I musnt look trustworthy :)
The RRP is £14.50 and I think it is worth every penny, when it comes to mascara I definately believe you pay for what you get. I have tried brands such as YSL, Lancome and other favourites and this beats them hands down!! The official Benefit website is also offering free delivery on all orders over £50 so if you fancy treating yourself go for it!
My boyfriend bought this mascara for me for Christmas...purely because of the name, but I was delighted to find that it really works.
I used to tend to just wear false eyelashes, because I had no luck finding a decent mascara-they may work the first time they were applied, but the effects weren't consistent with each application for very long at all. As a result, I'd rather stick on the falsies than spend ridiculous money on a different so-called 'wonder' mascara every few weeks that usually turned out to be an expensive mistake.
When I found 'Get Bent' in the bottom of my stocking, after my sniggers had subsided, I gave it a go. I found the angled brush much easier to use than other brands-it really reduced accidental pokes that would usually result in black smears or running panda eyes.
I was overjoyed to see that for the first time in years, I had proper eye lashes! They were thicker, longer, darker, and curled up more, which was great because when it comes to buying mascara,I find that I have to choose Thicker OR longer and so on-this one does it all, which is fantastic, as at one point, (before the falsies) I was even using a few different brands at once to get the look I was trying for!
I'm aware that mascaras, like perfume, work very differently from person to person, but it's worth bearing in mind that I previously had no luck with any brand, but this one was dramatic, and I even thought that my eyelashes look longer in general without mascara since I've begun using it.
I still have the same tube that I started on Christmas day,and even though it's nearing the end now, it's STILL as good as it was when it was freshly opened. And the funky packaging is an added bonus and means it doesn't get lost in the depth of your make-up bag.
Thanks for reading :)
On the surface, this mascara comes in a shiney silver tube and it has a bent brush which according to the make up consultants at the Benefit counter is supposed to make it easier to apply and coat the lashes. My lashes are extremely short so Get bent was recommended to me by the consultant. Although she was unable to try the actual brush on my eyelashes due to hygeine reasons she really talked this one up, so I decided to give it a go. What a waste of £14.50!!. The brush did not make applying it easier, Its clearly a gimmick (if you want to try yourself just bend your existing mascara brush!) I had to apply about 10 layers to get the length I wanted and although it didnt clump it didnt really cling to my lashes enough and I feel it should have been a little thicker. I will now be returning to my existing combe mascara which is much better!
So this mascara promises to be like a "wonderbra" for your lashes. What a promise to live up to I say. I thought I'd go out and try some of this, as I'm always looking for good mascara's because I have to make the most of my tiny lashes.
So this mascara is being sold for £14.50 and the wand of this mascara is slightly bent (hence the name). This is meant to coat every lash and curl it so that the lashes look curled and longer. The make up advisor at the Benefit counter told me that, with a bent brush, it is a lot easier to reach every single lash and even gets the tiny ones in the corners of the eye.
She couldn't demonstrate it in store, as it would have been unhygienic to use the brush on clients and she just had the normal wands to work with. She promised however, that with the correct brush, I would get far better results.
So when I went to try this for myself, I was instantly disappointed. Firstly, this brush did not make reaching my lashes any easier and the mascara itself was pretty standard and did not lift, curl and lengthen them as promised.
What a disappointment and utter waste of £14.50, as the results were pretty tame and not what was advertised at all!
as you may have been able to tell from my other reviews i am a bit of a benefit fan! i love everything about the brand the cute packaging, the quirky names and and slogans so naturally when i read about their new mascara- get bent- described as the push up bra for your lashes- i was keen to try it.
but i must say for the first time with this brand i was genuinally not over impressed by this product. i founf the brudh clumpy and difficult to use. at which ever angle i seemed to hold it i manges to get mascara all over my eyelid- which would mean an extra 5 minutes redoing the rest of my makeup. i found the mascara dry and it seemed to run out very quickly.
and so much for long lasting by lunch time i would be desparately seeking a top up. the pricing wasn't to bad i suppose- £14.50 but i wouldn't say it was worth it.
however despite all that it did, once finally applied, seem to curl and lengthen my lashes more then usual- it just seemed like quite alot of effort to get it there!
Benefit cosmetics have a reputation of being quite expensive, but exquisitely packaged as well as delivering breathtaking results. The company was founded by twin sisters Jean and Jane Ford in 1979 after realising their love passion for cosmetics and their unique sense of humour which still shines through today in the way the products are produced-and the mascara is no different.
"Get Bent Mascara"-a slightly cheeky name for a mainstream beauty product, comes in a small cardboard box, with a scarlett b ox sporting the mascara's name in attractive swirly writing. There is a small cardboard flap attatched to the box with application techniques, an innovative and personal touch I think. At £14.50 (19dollars) for just 6.5g of this is not a particularly cheap high street product, but by celebrity standards it must surely be a bargain. In the catalogue it is described as "a push-up bra for your lashes" which appeals to the consumer (most probably female) as she weighs up the positivity of having perky breasts...with this mascara she can have perky eyelashes too! In the copy, the founder's love for make-up really does shine, or is it simply a subtle and sneaky marketing technique?!
The mascara itself is similar to its sister Benefit product 'Bad Girl Lashes' with a large, almost comical brush. There is nothing special about the brush, its not a special separating comb or anything, but it is bent at a 45degree angle which makes this product something of a novelty. Layering it on is fine, almost theraputic, as it really does give your lashes a boost. However, a slip of the hand is something you would really want to avoid with a brush of this size-believe me I'd know. The mascara is of the excellent dark black shade you would expect, and I don't think it is available in any other colours. It does quite a good job of separating your lashes, but not to an extent of one of those comb-brush mascaras. However, it is excellent at lengthening and thickening, sometimes lashes can be too thick, but for some there is no such thing as too much mascara.
The one negative thing I would say about this product is that the mascara can gather around the top of the bottle, and harden and dry ON your actual brush which can be a pain. I've had mine for three months now, and on several occassions I thought it had run out, turns out it had just hardened on top of the bottle so be sure not to throw your Get Bent away before it is finished.
The quirky packaging of Benefit products makes it extremely eye catching and enticing. It is styled in a kooky, colourful cartoony manner, reminicent of 1950's classic American Hollywood glamour. A change perhaps from the celebrity-endorsed mundane palette of cosmetics offered to consumers today, as Benefit have very low-key advertising campaigns, hense why they have accumalated something of an underworld cult following.
