I use ‘Benefit Hello Flawless’ powder foundation pretty much daily. I apply the product using a brush, and attain a light but good coverage – which is the natural look that I desire. The product seems to disguise any redness I have, and helps lessen the dark circles under my eyes. It doesn’t cover them completely – but that is what concealer is for! Heavier coverage could easily be attained using the sponge provided, as opposed to the brush. I only use a light amount of foundation – however I find that the coverage does last all day – although redness becomes more apparent towards the end of the day when coverage is fading.
I was recommended to use this product over the ‘Hello Flawless’ liquid foundation, to finish the look off. Unfortunately when I do this, I find I do not get as good a result and my skin appears almost flaky – but this could be down to my combined skin type. I must stress that when I use the powder without the liquid first, I have no problems at all with the coverage.
One tub of this seems to last me around 4/5 months or more – although that is daily use I must stress that I do use a very minimal amount. If using more I would suggest it would last maybe 3 months.
So what about value for money? At around £20-£25 (depending on where you shop) I would say the product is good value for money. It is available in several shades, and the ladies on the counters are always most helpful in helping you find the right shade for you. The container has a built in mirror, a small brush and a small sponge. All in all good value for money, but I have seen other products on the market for a slightly higher price, giving better coverage.
Everyone has always told me how great benefit make-up is, and for the most part (with other products I have tried from the benefit range). However, this product was a bit of a disappointment to be honest. It wasn’t a bad product, it’s just that it didn’t work for me or my skin type.
One saviour of this powder is that it does blend well. It is good to use on its own, or with foundation underneath. It sets a liquid foundation really well and I have found it works with liquid foundations but not mousse or other powder foundations. I use “soap and glory heck of a blot” or “rimmel perfect match” liquid foundations, and the benefit powder sets these really well and lasts ages.
One issue I have is that I have very pale skin, this means that make-up brands often don’t have light enough shades for some of their products. This benefit powder is sadly one of them. The colour gave my skin a yellow-orange tint. It may suit a slightly more tanned person better, but for me (who wears ivory-shade foundations often) it was much too dark and made me look like I couldn’t do my make-up.
I am also quite prone to blemishes, and so finding make-up that hides them is important to me. However, this powder seems to cause them. It has become a pattern whenever I wear it that I wake up the next day with blemishes. I wasn’t sure if it was due to this, but after repeatedly testing it on my skin, I have found that this product, which is quite expensive, makes my blemishes worse, compared to other products, that are a lot cheaper.
The Benefit Cosmetics hello flawless oxygen wow! brightening makeup is available for GBP 26.50.
The foundation is described as follows. "Hello...it's flawless time! Our new oil-free brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion you can believe in. It's you...just more luminous & healthy looking."
The packaging design is again beautifully. For Benefit ratios quite basic, but still a looker. The pump dispenser is very convenient and you can meter the amount optimal. The Benefit Hello Flawless is a little streaky and you have longer revolve with the brush until it is incorporated. So good move but it does not. Nevertheless, one must simply fix it with some powder and then it stops. The then really the whole day. My face is frosted and remains so until the evening. I was really surprised. Previously I needed in almost every Foundation after several hours some powder to restore a more matt effect. The lightest shade Ivory is really nice and bright and also fits very well to me. Unfortunately it is a bit too yellowish, which can be seen well in direct comparison with no make-up. Nevertheless, I use it very much because it does not really stand out for size with full makeup. I just like the great matting effect of the Hello Flawless. On the positive side is the sun protection factor of 25. It's not often in Foundations and personally I lay there already worth it, because I want to protect my skin from the sun. So I do not lubricate sunscreen face on holiday, but enough for me a normal makeup. Compatibility is another good keyword. I have the Benefit Hello Flawless very well tolerated. I could not find that my skin was unclean or has otherwise reacts negatively to the use of the Foundation.
I rarely spend £20 plus on a single item of make up, however Benefit are a brand that I know and trust so I was willing to make an exception. Hello Flawless is the complimenting powder to the liquid foundation of the same name. It is available to buy both online via the Benefit website and from Benefit counters in department stores such as Debenhams and House of Fraser and most larger Boots stores.
Hello Flawless powder comes presented in a neat compact with both a small sponge and a flat brush for application. I found that my brush lost a few bristles (they actually got stuck to my face!) so I just used the sponge to apply the powder. Luckily the sponge is of excellent quality and it feels nice and soft against the skin.
The powder is nice and soft and highly pigmented. I use the powder to set my foundation, using liquid foundation first and then using this over the top. I have rather oily skin and I find that this powder helps to minimise shine and excess oil, plus it does set my foundation helping it to last longer. You only need a light coating of the powder to cover your entire face as a little goes a long way.
The powder glides onto the skin nicely and it doesn't cake over my liquid foundation, whether I use a cheap foundation as a base or a more expensive foundation. The powder is quite light and airy so it doesn't clog my pores. It actually allows my skin to breathe, which is good for my skin as my skin is easily irritated.
The powder contains SPF 15 for added sun protection.
I am pleased with this powder. I am knocking off one star as it does crumble easily, so be extra careful if taking the powder out and about with you.
From the Benefit website:
"A custom powder cover-up with SPF protection for the face. What it does: Benefit "Hello Flawless!" SPF 15 is a blendable powder foundation with SPF 15 that goes on beautifully sheer and layers easily for customized coverage. Find your perfect shade and sweep it on with the accompanying brush for a sheer, natural finish; or apply with the sponge for full coverage or spot cover-up".
I was recently lucky to be given a set of Benefit make up products for my birthday which gave me a great opportunity to try out some new products. One of the products in the set was this Hello Flawless foundation.
The product can be used as either a foundation or a powder and came in my gift set in a block with a tiny brush applicator. The first thing that I noticed about the product was that it was quite dark - it almost looked orange in colour and I was worried that it would not suit my skin tone which is quite place.
The product is meant to give good coverage and also help with spots and oily skin. As my skin can be quite oily I was looking foward to trying it to see if it would make any difference.
To apply the foundation you use the brush to smooth it over your skin. I found that the product was easily transferred to the brush and went onto my face smoothly. It did give good coverage and it was easy to build it up so that you can get more coverage in any areas where you need it. The end result was quite smooth and it hid any blemishes I had well.
The foundation lasted well on my face for the whole day and I was pleased that my skin did not seem to get oily at all and still looked smooth. The only issue I had was that the colour was a bit too dark for me so I would only really be able to use it again in summer when I had a tan.
I have an oily complexion and although I use oil free moisturiser and oil free foundation, some of that dreaded shininess manages to get through which means I also need to wear a powder of top of my make up. After having tried and liked the Hello Flawless Foundation by Benefit, I thought I'd try the Hello Flawless Custom Cover Up Powder to see if I would be just as impressed.
What does the product do?
The product is a powder which promises to give you a flawless complexion by hiding imperfections. It claims to be sheer and customises itself to your skin and it has a buildable coverage. The product will get rid of any redness, uneven skin tone and blemishes which gives you seemingly flawless skin. It also contains SPF15 to protect the skin from the sun and to keep it looking younger for longer.
How do you use the product?
As always, Benefit have kindly included an information book with the product and it also includes a brush and sponge to help you with the application. The product can be worn alone or over the top of foundation. If you want a better coverage then the sponge with do the job and if you want a lighter dusting over foundation, then you can use the brush. You can use the product all over the face or dab it directly onto imperfections.
The product does come in a range of different shades so you should be able to find something that suits your skin tone. Each shade comes with a lovely name and quirky name like Gee I'm Swell, Me? Vain? Cute As a Bunny and Why Walk When You Can Strut amongst others. I chose Love Me which is an ivory shade as I have quite pale skin.
Packaging and Price
The product comes in a sturdy compact which protects the powder inside really well. The compact looks cute and attractive, and I am happy to be using it on the go. The outer casing is black and white with a silver square in the middle and Hello Flawless is written in the centre in red lettering. It opens with a flip top lid and under the lid you will find a mirror for applying the product on the go. Underneath the powder you will find another compartment and this is where the brush and sponge are both stored.
The packaging is deceptive of how much product you actually get when you see the size of the compact. Because of the mirror, brush and sponge, you only get a thin slice of the make up which isn't good considering the price. After a month, I've made a big dent in it after using it daily. The product doesn't come cheap and it will set you back around £25 per compact. It can be bought from stores such as Boots and Debenhams as well as from a range of online websites.
The first time I used this product I had already applied moisturiser and foundation so I was using it as a finishing touch. I applied the product used the included brush but the bristles dig into the powder as the bristles are quite tough and so the powder gets kicked up a bit and it was wasted. I use my normal softer brush for it now and I find that it works much better. When using the powder in this way, it gives a very sheer finish without too much coverage but enough to prevent the shininess breaking through for a while. It sets your make up nicely and gives your complexion a naturally beautiful finish.
For a night out, I use the sponge to apply the product on top of foundation. The coverage when using the product in this way is medium to full and it covers really well for a powder. The product covers my dark circles, evens out the skin tone and makes my complexion look as flawless as promised by the name. If you have lots of spots you'll need a concealer on top. You can tell that you wearing make up and it is quite heavy on the skin but it's perfect for a evening or night. The product hasn't caused any imperfections or blemishes to form on my skin and it hasn't irritated it.
Providing I wear my primer and my porefessional the product doens't sink into the pores or highlight my fine lines. I have worn it on a recent holiday on bare skin and it gives a made up appearance that is summery and subtle but you get the added benefit of the sun protection. I do spray a little extra protection on top but I definitely didn't burn so it will protect your skin really well in this country! The powder has long lasting results and it helps to keep my oily skin under control although it doesn't manage this completely. The product is easy to apply on the go as you move from the daytime to the night time if you need to do so. The powder is easily removed at the end of the day using my usual make up remover.
All in all, the powder gives a good coverage which does indeed make the complexion look almost flawless, especially when used on top of foundation. It has a matte finish which evens out my skin tone but that can also be worn in a more subtle way if applied using a make up brush. It has long lasting results and sun protection, and I really like how it makes my skin look. I'm knocking off one star because of the price and the amount that you get but other than that, I love this!
If you have read some of my past make-up reviews you may already know that I suffer from problem skin. Not just the odd blemish every couple of weeks but there is very rarely a day where I don't have a spot be it a big beauty or a little red pimple. Besides the spots, I suffer with dark under eye circles and I have very fair skin so struggle to find make-up that suits my complexion. With these insecurities it is important to me to feel that I can rely on my make-up to make me feel more confident with my skin. I'm well aware that it is a vicious circle, the more make-up applied... the more likely you are to have imperfections, however as I feel that going without make-up is not an option for me I try my best to find products with good coverage so I don't have to 'cake' on the layers which would clog my pores even more.
Benefits Hello Flawless powder/foundation came in to my life by chance. My mother had been using Hello Flawless for quite some time when she decided that she needed to go 'up' a shade and asked if I would like to try what she had left of the paler shade (SHELL). I jumped at the chance as I love benefits products, so I washed the sponge (not to spread bacteria) and included it in my make-up routine the next day.
When purchased the powder compact comes in a square box which is a light aqua colour and has a picture of a mirror with spotlights around the edge and 'HELLO FLAWLESS!' written in red font in the middle. The compact itself is also square and has the image of a mirror on the front with white plastic edge with black detailing. The packaging is in keeping with benefits range of modern and fun products. The compact comes with a square sponge and a small yet wide black brush. A little mirror is fixed to the underside of the lid which is very handy if you need to top up on the go.
*What is it and how do I use it?*
You may find it strange that I have been describing Hello Flawless as a powder/foundation. The reason for this is because although it looks and acts like a pressed powder it is placed under the foundation category of Benefits website which suggests to me that you could use it as a powder foundation. As mentioned before, the compact contains a sponge and brush so you can choose how you would like to apply it. Benefits website suggests using the sponge for covering up spots by dabbing directly on the blemish or discolouration or for an all over sheer finish to sweep over with the brush. If you would like even more coverage they suggest to apply evenly all over complexion with the sponge.
Hello Flawless is available in a range of shades ranging from very pale (like me) to a deep tanned colour. The colours available are beige, shell, ivory, honey, amber, toffee, champagne and hazelnut.
I am extremely happy that this product has found its way in to my make-up bag. I use the sponge most days to apply an even coverage all over my face before going over with the brush to blend and remove any excess powder off my skin. The powder covers my blemishes brilliantly and I no longer have the worry of having to apply more make-up throughout the day. It gives me a lovely matt finish and for anyone that struggles to find powder pale enough for their skin tone like me I highly recommend the 'SHELL' shade. It is light without being white! In the past I have had problems with powders making my skin look dry and sometimes 'caked' with makeup, however hello flawless leaves my skin feeling and looking smooth. I feel much more confident using this powder/foundation. I love how versatile this product is, on days where my skin is particularly bad I can use the sponge for more coverage, yet on days where my skin is not so bad I can use the brush for a lighter coverage. As I mentioned earlier, dark under eye circles are an issue for me. I was very impressed with how much Hello Flawless helped to cover these up also.
Hello Flawless is sold for £24.99 which is hardly cheap! but I really do think it's worth it and anyone with 'problem' skin like myself will I'm sure think it is worth stretching your budget for, not only for the product itself but the confident boost that comes with it.
I recommend you give this a go!
For those who often read my reviews, you will know I'm make-up crazy. Although this seems perfectly normal for a woman, but I have always had an insecurity with my skin because of spots and my pale complexion. I regularly use Maxfactor and sometimes maybe line, fairly priced brands with let's call it "alright" quality.
I did once have a salesman try to sell me a £100 foundation. I gave it a tester, and wow, it was amazing. However, I have never encouraged myself to spend more than £15 on a foundation. I would never think I could spend over £20 on a foundation, and a powder at that! My friend kept going on about how she loved benefit make-up and she had every single product from the range (oh yeah, lucky for her, her dad is a captain at BA and her mum is a doctor). I did feel slightly jealous of it, and I felt that even if the make-up was pants, I would like some of the benefit range even to whip out in the college toilet to make myself look good. Although when I bought my first benefit product (this) I realised that there's more to benefit than making you look wealthy.
I bought this power at John Lewis' where there is a benefit stand. It was just after I had been paid, and thought "hey, you only live once, what's wrong with splashing out a little". I was given the benefit compact in a smart little box, benefit make-up always has an old-fashioned style of packaging, and I think this makes it more interesting and appear of a higher quality
I first used it going to a birthday party. I was too scared to use it because I had never spent £25 on a foundation before, and I didn't want it to run out. I first applied my max factor colour adapt, I then put a spot of maybe line dream matte mouse on top, and this is when I applied the powder.
You get a little brush with it, it is amazingly soft like I have seen with most expensive brushes, although it is rough enough to pick up the foundation when swiping it across. It is fairly thick, although I felt it picked up so little foundation that I had to keep swiping it across just to cover my whole face. I then realised if you brush the foundation with several, fast, tiny strokes, you should gather enough on your brush to cover, say, the whole of your forehead, or your cheek.
You receive a sponge as well, which to be honest I haven't touched as I don't see the use in it. However, I have used the sponge for my Elizebeth Arden foundation as my sponge for that keeps ripping apart. My benefit sponge hasn't ripped once and it is soft enough to suck up a creamy foundation.
With the product you get a little leaflet, which isn't brilliant use but it goes to show just how far benefit will go to ensure you get everything for the price.
It comes with a mirror which is very handy when taking it out, as you can imagine there is not always a mirror available. It would also be useful to have this as even when the foundation is finished, it is good to whip out the mirror and check yourself out showing off your benefit mirror.
I chose the shade 'petal' as unfortunately I have almost gothic white skin. The lady at the make-up counter recommended this. I was hesitant at first as it seemed so light, but after using it I realised the shades I were using before were far too dark. Unlike maybe line, the ligher shades of benefit make-up actually look nice on the skin as opposed to making you look like death.
The foundation itself is very soft and silky and feels like no other. This gives a real unique touch to it as I have had many powders from the likes of Rimmel and Maybeline and none of them have compared to this. The coverage in my opinion, is great although I put so much foundation under the powder that I can't really see how it would be without it. I think it would cover any spots or blemishes as long as you put some sort of foundation under it, I don't think it would work the same when just applied on the skin without it.
I think it gives a really soft appearance to the skin the way many models look, many people have said it looks really natural although I have to disagree with that. When I apply it, it is very obvious I've used a good powder, although it shouldn't really matter, every is going to tell that you're wearing make-up anyway.
I bought this two months ago and the depth of the foundation hasn't budged a bit. This prove sit is very long lasting, although I don't use it every day, I like to keep it for the odd special occasion. As this is a product I only use for special occasions, I would say yes it is worth the money. Although if you're looking for a foundation for everyday use, I don't think I would recommend this as you would be much better off with a maybe line one for a lower price.
Well its just another great product from Benefit. When i first saw this product i though it would dry my skin out due to its powdery texture, but i was pleasantly suprised, it seemed to work with my skin and only dry up the oily areas on my nose and chin. The coverage is excellent, not too heavy, but perfect as the finishing touch over my main foundation. Sometimes I use it as my only base when I dont want to feel so "made up" It comes in a great range of colours, which is a change for Benefit as they usually only cater for a 2 or 3 shade palette. The compact casing is also very innovative, housing a sponge for heavier application, and a brush for lighter coverage. This means it can cater for all your needs on the go, and I now keep it in my handbag all the time. Gorgeous packaging once again, although they do tend to use slightly too much packaging paper, cardboard etc, maybe they need to start looking at greener packaging solutions! but a tiny flaw to an otherwise superb product.
This is the best foundation I've ever used, particularly if you have skin prone to spots like me. It is matt so ensures you dont get a shiny face, and also it stays on all day! The best way that I found to apply was using the sponge rather than the brush, this gave me the best coverage. You are also protected from the sun which is a bonus. The case it comes in is very handy as it has a mirror so that you can apply your makeup whilst out and about. The only downfall I would say is that it can occasionally crack and then becomes of no use as every time you open the lid bits fall out and stain the carpet! Overall though I would definitely reccomend this product. It's a lightweight foundation which means that it doesn't feel heavy or cloggy on the skin. I also found it is a good base for blusher etc which also stays put all day as a result of being applied to a base of hello flawless. My skin is dull and lifeless with no make up but with this on I often have comments about how good my skin is which is nice!
Benefit is my favourite make-up brand by far.
Their designs are quirky unique and the products have never let me down yet! I have already reviewed and sworn by their erase paste and now it is time for Hello Flawless.
The packaging is the first thing you encounter and it doesn't let you down. The retro and kitsch outside box hides a compact cover-up with brush and sponge for two different levels of coverage. The instructions are easy to understand and really help to describe and tell you about the look you need.
Now for the application. The powder glides on skin easily and really does cover-up and leave you looking flawless. The fact of the product is it covers but does not leave you looking too make-up heavy or caked on. It leaves a nice even coverage and leaves skin brighter and smoother looking. I would recommend using the Benefit counters found within most Debenhams stores to ensure the correct colour is used and they also give you amazing tips like combining products or even just simple advice of using a foundation brush as it really leaves the product looking its best.
Now for the question of does it last?
The answer is yes.
I find it lasts quite happily and steadily for a day at work/night out or even just day to day wear. It never feels heavy and EVERYONE comments when I wear it. It looks so natural and often people are looking to achieve the same look. Asking what product or even moisturiser i'm using to cover the dark circles and blemishes. Few people automatically ask what make-up as it really looks smooth.
Having young skin I am still prone to the break outs and a students party life leaves late nights. Between Hello Flawless! and Erase Paste all this disappears and I feel awake and ready to face the world more confident and flawless!
I first encountered Benefits' Hello Flawless when one of the lovely girls at my local Benefit counter gave me a bit of a makeover. I have oily skin but few blemishes and my busy job means that I need hardworking make-up that stays put all day. I can confirm that Hello Flawless does just that!
I'm not sure how suitable this foundation would be for girls with a dry skin type- I think the powder may flake a tad but as I am oily I can't really comment!
The major advantage of this product is that it comes with both a brush applicator and a sponge. If you want sheer coverage use the brush to dust the foundation on and those who need fuller coverage for spots/blemishes can use the sponge. I personally find that the best way to use the product is to use the sponge for the areas I need to really even out (like my T-zone) and dust the foundation over the areas that just need a little colour, this way it looks natural rather than giving that "mask like" effect that some other foundations do. I have also found that the spot coverage is so good I now seldom use concealer.
In terms of colour, I personally use Me.....vain? Champagne. As you can see from my picture I am incredibly pale so its quite hard for me to get a decent shade that doesn't make me look orange but this shade has really suited me, I would say its the best match I have ever had (and I've used everything from Collection 2000 to Lancome!) English roses, this one is for you!
The added SPF is also a bonus- we all know how much damage the sun does to the skin. This is particularly useful when you consider that this foundation to especially good for oily skin types- very few foundations formulated for this skin type contain an SPF so this product really does stand out!
The one disadvantage is the price, at £24.50 its not cheap but one compact goes a long long way so its probably more economical in the long run than buying several tubes of cheap foundation. And if you buy when certain large pharmacies have offers on (extra points, freebies etc) the products are even better value.
As always, the product is beautifully packaged and it never fails to get comments when you take it out of your handbag to powder your nose. These small details make all Benefit cosmetics feel indulgent and girly!
Once again, I cannot praise this product enough. Like some other Benefit products (BadGal mascara for instance), the key is in the application. Have a few attempts to get it right and it really is well worth it.
My skin is often a problem for me - so, ready for the summer last year, I went in search of a foundation powder that could both cover and protect my skin - having had previous success with Benefit (An American, Californian based company started by two sisters) I saw this on the stands and snapped it up, and boy am I glad I did!
Firstly, and most importantly for me when heading into those warm (we wish) summer months, was the fact that this is one of few foundations to offer SPF protection - with SPF 15. Combined with an SPF concealer or a tiny bit of suncream before application and my face survived the summer without one scrap of sunburn - so absolutely no complaints on the protective front!
The cover-up itself is quite remarkable - its available in 6 shades, for varying skin colours - and it is easy enough to test this on either the back of your hand or get the opinions of one of the sales reps who hover by the Benefit counter in every store I have seen it for sale. The colours are lovely and complementary and the versatility was quite shocking -- The Cover-up comes with both a sponge and a brush - the Sponge applies it like traditional liquid foundation, provide a thicker cover-up, whilst the brush applies it like a compressed face powder, providing a lighter result. Whilst I nearly always opt for the brush, its definitely handy - especially to shove in your bag for holidays - you always have the option!
The powder is smooth and soft, clinging to your skin and looking pretty much... well... flawless! The only problem I have found is on my nose where my skin is slightly redder it doesn't blend quite as well and thus looks patchy and a bit thick with powder - but this is more due to my pigmentation and a bit of concealer solves this problem!
The powder stays on all day and I have had so many remarks about my new 'flawless' complexion that I wouldn't look back!
Information on ingredients are readily available and Benefit always use the highest quality products and I have never known any reaction - which, why very allergic friends, is a definite plus.
The box itself is as attractive as always - with a white lid and black pattern with a mirrored label, the container itself is black - with the powder nestle neatly inside, in a tray which lifts up to reveal the compartment with both the sponge and brush in - remarkably handy! And the lid has a mirror in it, so it really is a holiday dream.
At 7g net weight its lasted me 10 months so far - and theres plenty left, so as with all Benefit products you don't need a lot and lasts for ever - this makes up for the price tag which, at £24.50 is a little out of some peoples pockets. However, having paid £3 every few months for my old brand, the costs really do even out!!
Benefit is available nationwide, in Boots, John Lewis, Debenhams, Selfridges and Benefits own stores - as well as on many websites - and is always accompanied by friendly staff willing to demonstrate and even give a makeover - definitely worth the service!
Overall, I have found this to be an incredibly versatile and trust worthy product... basically, it does just what it says on the tin: Hello Flawless!
My skin tone is MAC nc15 (Very fair but warm) and I use 'shell'.
I have tried many forms of powder foundations, from drugstore to higher end & while I really liked most of them, the colour match, coverage & lasting power of BeneFit's HELLO FLAWLESS outdoes them all. In fact I've now thrown everything out, and I rarely reach for liquid or mousse foundation any more either.
The (pressed) powder seems to melt seamlessly into your skin & the coverage is very even. It's easy to blend & build up for a light/medium natural looking natural coverage, the finished look seems to have a slight glow to it. Like I mentioned above; the colour match is great. HELLO FLAWLESS feels so lightweight; I forget I'm wearing any make up.
I do have very dry and sensitive skin, but I've not experienced any dry patches or caking, I've also not experienced that tightness and itchy feeling, which a lot of other products have given me.
The compact itself is perfect for my handbag. The tray the powder is housed in lifts up to reveal a brush and sponge. The brush is great for a lighter dusting of powder, while the sponge is great for the occasional spot.
The only thing about HELLO FLAWLESS that hasn't impressed me is the price tag. For me the results will justify the price. But, yeah, ouch.
