Benefit cosmetics are a fun and funky brand. With great names to their products and a kitsch and retro image. Hugely popular both here and in the USA, Benefit produce items that are colourful and 'must have', and their clever advertising goes a long way in promoting their brand. Packaged in bright colours and featuring 50's artwork Benefit have got this sales pitch spot on, and you can't help but be tempted to want to own the items from this kitsch range of cosmetics . -
- BENEFIT HIGHBEAM -
Benefit Highbeam is one of my very favourite products from their cosmetic range. It's one of those items I just can't be without. A bit like Touche Eclat. I find Highbeam highlighter an essential make up item. When getting ready to go out and applying my make up, my face feels naked without finishing my skin with Highbeam. It really is a wonderful little product and I'd feel lost without it. Like all Benefit items, it comes at a price, and in Highbeams case it is a hefty £15.50 available from Debenhams Boots, or Selfridges.
Highbeam comes in a small glass bottle similar to that of a nail polish, though rounder and fatter in appearance. It is a clear glass through which you can see the pink pearl liquid. It looks like a sugar pink pearlised nail varnish and there is a brush attached to the lid which picks up a desired amount of the Highbeam ready for using. The liquid is a good consistency; it is not thin, runny, or ineffective. It stays put, and it feels silky on the skin. You can apply the Highbeam wherever you want the highlighting effect.
I like to stoke it on the apples of my cheeks, blending it in with my fingertips, it catches the light nicely and gives a very pretty sheen, and healthy glow there. It leaves your skin looking radiant and fresh and really natural. I also brush some across my forehead and a small amount along my nose and a dab on my chin. A little stroked on your eyelids looks lovely, and a small dot at the corner of your eye where your tearducts are looks really pretty, and opens up the eye area. Highbeam really does give a very natural look.
The Highbeam basically lasts all day, or night, and it doesn't wear off or fade. Sometimes I like to mix a little of the Highbeam with the Benetint, which is a lovely rose scented clear liquid blush. It gives a very pretty effect and a slightly deeper colour. Also blended in with a liquid foundation will give the whole face a wonderful luminousity. What the highbeam does is it gives the skin a lovely pink silvery pearlised shimmer in the areas you choose to put it on. It looks fantastic and illuminates your complexion.
It also acts as a face shaper, and you can have fun trying out what effect suits your particular face shape. It finishes off your make up to give it a stylised look. Highbeam catches the light and it will draw the eye there with its shimmering qualities. It really is something special, and once you have tried it you will see what I mean. It does last a long time and you will find that a little of this wonderful product does go a long long way.
Basically I can't recommend it enough. If you like Touch Eclat for its remarkable effect, liken Highbeam to that for a comparison in how good a product it is. If you like a more bronzed highlighter, Benefit does a similar product called moonbeam which gives a very pretty bronze glow. Ideally for a darker or olive complexion. Highbeam is suitable for all skin types and it gets 10/10 from me any day of the week. -
- The Company -
Hailing from San Francisco. CA. USA. This Company supports beauty against cruelty, and nice to know that no animal substance is used in the production of their products. Benefit is also the fastest growing luxury cosmetic brand in the US. Benefit is available from Debenhams, larger Boots and Selfridges. I love their products and I recommend them 100%. -
