Advantages: Good for cheekbone definition and a bit of subtle sparkle

Disadvantages: Not for you if you want dramatic results

I have to admit that I know so many people that are massive fans of Benefit but it's not one of my favourite brands - mainly because it's really expensive and maybe slightly gimmicky in my opinion (i.e. there are quite a few products which sound a bit quirky in really unusual packaging but for the money I'm not sure they make a huge different). It's not that I won't pay a decent amount for good make-up, as Chanel and Mac are two of my favourites, but perhaps just that I haven't been convinced yet.

However, Benefit High Beam was something that I was recommended quite a few times so I purchased a bottle (it retails at around £16) and actually I was very impressed.

If you want dramatic results, High Beam is not the product for you but I think for those of us who really like it, that's the benefit of it. You put a very tiny amount on the top of your cheekbones to make heighten your cheekbones a little and help to distinguish them from the rest of your face. You can't even necessarily see it straight away, but when it catches the light your cheeks look more defined and it adds a shimmer and sparkle. This is good for me as I don't have very high cheekbones.

One really good thing to point out about this product is that although it comes in a tiny bottle, you only need the tinniest amount so unless you use it every day, the bottle will last you a very long time. I have had mine about 2 years and it's not close to running out.

One slightly negative thing to bear in mind or at least to know, is that if you like putting on bronzer or powder blusher this, in my opinion, does not mix well as you can imagine, since High Beam is a creamy product. This means you tend to find yourself having to pick one or the other. I do have a cream blusher that I use and a little bit of High Beam on top of that gives an extra shimmer, although it probably isn't wholly necessary.

You can buy it in most department stores.

Summary: Use High Beam to add a bit of sparkle and definition to your cheeks

I agree, this is one of their better products. I think your review is spot-on too, I've found the same when trying to combine it with bronzer etc. x
