Benefit High Beam luminescent complexion enhancer
I am a big, big fan of Benefit's makeup and skin care products. I especially find their makeup range to be fun, a bit quirky and really very practical for everyday wear. Among my all time favourite Benefit products has to be their High Beam luminescent complexion enhancer, it is something I wear a lot and is suitable for a whole variety of different occasions and looks.
Benefit's High Beam highlighter is a very nice rich pearly pink liquid that is quite thick but very easy to smooth out over your skin. It is really easy to apply the High Beam, all you need to do is dab a few dots from the brush provided in the lid to any areas on your face that you want to add a little extra oomph too, such as cheeks or around your eyes.
In fact, in my opinion Benefit's High Beam highlighter is one of the most versatile makeup essentials I own in my collection. You can apply it with no other makeup just to give your skin a slight natural glow, which is great for days when you are in a rush. Or you can apply it over foundation for a full makeup look but still keeping a natural style or you can mix a small amount of the highlighter with your foundation to give yourself a nice dewy look. Or similarly you can add a small amount of the Benefit High beam with your daily moisturiser just to give yourself that little bit of an extra glow. There really are quite a few options available with this highlighter and I have tried all of the ones mentioned above with successful outcomes.
Benefit say that the High Beam highlighter is suitable for all skin tones, but I'm not sure this would be absolutely true. The High Beam has quite a pinky tone to it, which I think works really well with my rather pale skin tone but I can imagine anyone with a darker tone to their skin might not suit this as much. But then again maybe I'm completely wrong... It is definitely a product that if you can you should try it out in the store before you buy it, and in my experience anyone working on the Benefit counters will be happy to let you test this and any other products out.
As with all of Benefit's products the High Beam highlighter does not come cheap and typically retails for £18.50. However, for your money you do get a product that will last and last and last. So far even with pretty constant usage my little bottle has lasted nearly six months and there is still quite a bit left.
The packaging is the same as many of their other products, i.e., Benetint, Posy tiny, Sun Beam, etc. It is relatively good but do beware that I have in the past managed to break the lid with ease and although the products have still been usable they haven't been as transportable. However, overall I would say that the packaging is fine, but just nothing special and the inbuilt brush in the lid does comes in very handy.
So would I recommend it?
If you haven't already guessed the answer from the rest of the review, let me shout it out. YES, YES and YES! If you haven't tried this yet and you think that it might be something for you then definitely have a closer look at it the next time you find ourself out shopping. Especially, when Benefit counters can be found in most Boots stores.
In my opinion Benefit's High Beam definitively deserves the full five out of five stars. I will certainly be buying another bottle of this when mine eventually runs out, as I have yet to find another highlighter that looks as good or is as easy, or versatile to apply.
Summary: Five out of five stars
