==Benefit Instant Brow Pencil==
Having blonde hair means that I also have blonde eyelashes and blonde eyebrows which is a draw back in my opinion as blonde eyelashes look non-existent and I always have to make sure I have had my eyelashes tinted and/or wear a good deal of mascara to not look piggy eyed. The eye brow situation wasn't an issue for me up until a few years back when I saw a photo of me and I looked like I literally had no eyebrows! Of course eyebrows are said to define a face and give it a better shape so I knew then that I had to do something about it.
I didn't want to look like one of those mad women you see where they have plucked the life out of their eyebrows and then resorted to pencilling them on in one straight and curved line in a look of constant shock so I did a little bit of research myself and thought that I would give this highly rated Benefit instant Brow Pencil a try.
At £14 for the pencil it is not a cheap item compared to other eyebrow pencils that are on offer but considering the brand and the good reviews I had read I thought that it would be more than worth buying. There were three shades to choose from, a light to medium, a medium to dark and then a deep shade. Although I wanted more definition on my brows I decided to go with the light to medium which wouldn't look too out of place and hopefully just give me a more natural looking brow.
The design of the pencil is nice and looks as you would expect a pencil type product to look like. It does however have the added extra of having a little brush type wand on the other end to the nib. This they call a spoolie and it is designed to blend in the pencil to the brow and create a more natural look! All seems fantastic!
Using the pencil was a doddle and I literally brush stroked the nib of the pencil through my light blonde lashes and created a layer of what would appear to be darker lashes Often I can achieve a pretty good look by doing this light enough to get a colour but without a definite pencil line and therefore I don't always feel the need to use the little brush to blend. However when a mark of the pencil does look a little too "solid" in appearance which can in turn look unnatural using the blending brush is easy to do as you simply comb the little brush through the fine hairs of the brow and it blends it all wonderfully for you.
The product really is fantastic and I really couldn't' do without it now. It is a perfect shade for me as the light to medium just gives that little bit of extra depth to my eyebrows which I needed to make them more noticeable and thus giving my face shape and framing it somewhat. It looks really natural and I find it so easy to use that I can't leave the house without it now for fear of looking like I have lost my eyebrows!
I have had the pencil for ages now and it is still going strong. A little is all you really need and the effects of the pencil last all day on me and will only disappear when I remove my make up before bed. I have plenty left of this eye brow pencil and although at first I thought that the price was a little on the high side I would say that because it has lasted me so long that the price is more than worth it especially when it is a product that lasts all day too.
I think this is worthy of a top score of 5 out of 5 stars and I would highly recommended it to anyone with thin eyebrows or like me who has very fair eyebrows as it is a great product.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
The benefit instant brow pencil is a pencil with connected brush/spoolie tip which can be used to enhance natural brows. The pencil comes in three different colours-fair, medium and dark and retails at £14.00. It comes in an attractive cardboard box and can be purchased from Boots, Debenhams or can be dispatched in 24 hours from www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk.
I first tried the pencil at a benefit make-up trial. I was keen to enhance my brows as I have a tendency to over pluck them and wanted something natural to fill and thicken my brows. I was amazed with the results, you can use the connecting brush to comb brows and make them neat and then pencil over the brow, following the natural line of the eye brow. The pencil produces a powdery type appearance, which makes the brows look natural; many cheaper pencils do not blend as well and can produce harsh lines. The brush/spoolie on the end of the pencil can then also be used to blend brows.
The pencil can last all day and you can apply more for an evening or more more dramatic look. I apply more of the product to the base of my brow which makes them look a lot thicker but also keeping them really natural at the same time. I prefer the pencil to the benefit wax brow enhancers as I find these slide of more easily than the pencil. I have a medium to fair complexion and brown hair and the medium pencil looks great, it may be worth having a trial to ensure you can match the colour to your brows; as stated before there are three shades to choose from.
The pencil is fairly expensive, but it is not that much more expensive than brow pencils from other brands and because it is so effective and natural looking it is well worth the money. The only downside is that because I use it every day it can run out quickly and it can be hard to sharpen when the pencil becomes short. Overall however, it is hard to really criticize this product, since being introduced to it I have not been without it. It is especially great for girls out there who have over plucked and found it hard to re grow brows, it can really help to fill your brows and frame your face.
The Benefit instant brow pencil works quickly, it is great to get instant thick and filled eybrows, which are in every magazine at the moment.
The pencil comes in two colours, fair to medium and medium to dark. Unless you have the fairest skin and hair I would go with the medium to dark. If you have lighter brown hair just don't press as hard with the pencil.
The pencil comes with a spiral brush on the end, which shapes your eyebrows really well and quickly, also stopping parts of your eyebrow hair clumping together.
The brush is easy to use, simply brushing along the eyebrow with the pencil filling in any gaps lightly. The spiral brush can also be used to get rid of any excess pencil.
The pencil doesn't smell nor will it won't break easily, it also can be brushed off if it gets on any clothes, without having to be washed.
It also lasts almost 5-6 hours before you have to reapply and it only takes half a minutes to apply.
The pencil is £14.00, which may seem steep but it is the best one I have tried. You can get it from Debenams, Boots and other department stores as well as the internet.
It is small so it can be carried around easily however it lasts for ages and even once the pencil is finished you still have the spiral wand on the other end.
I really like this product and feel that it does exactly what it says and much more.
My sister bought this product and realised that the colour was slightly too reddish for her and so gave it to me. SCORE I initially thought, but then panic set in - was this to be just another eyebrow pencil which, upon use, would make me look like some kind of creepy old woman or drag queen?
Her loss was my gain; this is GREAT! I love the brush on one side, pencil on the other (it's difficult enough to find my makeup through pre-tea eyes in the morning, this is a clever space-saving combo) so you can't lose it - but also the brush can be used for clearing out mascara clumps!
According to the instructions, you brush your eyebrows into place first, then fill in the gaps with 'light, feathery strokes' to make it appear as you have perfect eyebrows.
And this is totally true, depending on a few things -
1. You pluck and shape your eyebrows to the best of your ability beforehand, and
2. You get the right colour shade for your eyebrows. Otherwise, it looks horribly evident that you've been colouring in your face. the effect is less groomed than granny when this happens.
I recommend you to go into a benefit counter and try it out before committing to buying. £12.50 or so is a lot to pay for something that you never use.
Otherwise, this is fabulous - it;s one of my must-wear items, and I'm still using the stick my sister gave me - two years on!
Open a magazine right now and you will notice that every model and celebrity has full, perfectly groomed eyebrows. If you saw me before I bought the Benefit Brow Pencil, you'd see that I have quite thin, very fair, and barely even noticeable eyebrows. Not sexy.
This is what went through my mind just moments before I rushed over to the Benefit counter and purchased my now prized make-up possession (second only to my mascara).
My make-up collection is usually cheap, cheerful, and most of all SAFE: neutral colours, inexpensive in case I don't like it, and easy to apply. So buying the Benefit Brow Pencil was a big deal for me! That's why I sought the advice of the Benefit Make-up Artist in Boots.
She was very helpful, and recommended this product rather than the other brow products they had. I'm not sure what the other products are, but she said that this would be the easiest for an eyebrow novice such as myself!
The following guide is how she told me to use it, and how I achieve great results on a daily basis...
Use the pencil to brush lightly AGAINST the way that the hair grows - from the end near the temple, towards the nose. Don't press onto the skin, or draw lines - simply do feathery strokes with the colour. It's amazing how much the hair picks up!
Now, your eyebrow hair will be lying in all different directions. Use the other end of the pencil to brush the hair into a neat arch. This action also takes away any excess colour - which means no unsightly smudging!
The pencil comes in two colours - light to medium and medium to dark. I have light blonde hair and hate the fake, overdone look that some girls go for. Yet she sold me the medium to dark shade! I didn't realise this until I took it out of the packaging at home, and was quite upset at first. However, it works brilliantly. The best bit about this pencil is that you can build up the colour, so it doesn't matter too much about the shade. I can wear it for work during the day to add a bit of definition, or I can apply more and achieve a sexy, defined look for a night out.
I have a few Benefit cosmetics roaming around in my make- drawer and because Benefit have a sassy, striking and individual approach to their cosmetics you could easily think that the cosmetics are only produced for the younger generation.
Let me put that matter straight - Benefit cater for us all in one way or another so don't be put off by that jazzy packaging, stop and investigate and find out which Benefit products suit you as an individual.
Just before I share my Benefit Instant Brow Pencil experience with you I just want to say that one of my latest purchases has been the Hoola bronzing powder, love the diddy little box that the bronzer comes in and the small flat brush that fits into the box perfectly is the perfect applicator.
Sadly things just aren't what they used to be on the eyebrow front, I admit that my brows have thinned due to being over-plucked but at the time it was a good idea.
I have yet to find a brow pencil that can create a natural look, my brows have lightened in colour too so I try to use a lighter shade of pencil in keeping.
What usually happens is that I run the tip of the pencil lightly along the brow and then just smudge it with the tip of my finger to try and soften the pencil line.
I bought my Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in Boots the chemist, I have to tell you that I thought long and hard before buying it because it costs £12.50, this really has to be top whack for a brow pencil.
There are just two shades to choose from, light to medium and medium to dark, I chose the light to medium to see if I could achieve a semi-natural looking brow.
Using the Benefit Instant Brow pencil isn't rocket science, it does need practise and once you get into the swing of using it you will develop a technique that works for you.
The Benefit pencil is pretty ordinary to look at, at the top end you have the soft brow pencil and then at the other end there is what looks like a small mascara wand.
What I did was to apply all of my make-up first and then concentrate on trying to create a decent brow at the end.
The pencil end isn't creamy, the soft colour that is going to fill in any sparse areas within the brow is soft. This is one thing in its favour, most brow pencils are moist or creamy and they leave far more definition but as you just lightly stroke the brows over with the pencil you can hardly see what you have applied.
Maybe if you wanted a more defined brow then you would need to apply the pencil far more heavily.
Once the pencil has been lightly run along the brows you have in effect disturbed the brow to some extent and this is where the second stage comes in. Turn the pencil around and use what Benefit call the `spoolie`- the brush end.
Take the brush and lightly draw it along the brow, this distributes the powdery pencil evenly and it draws your brow into a good natural shape. The only area that I have any difficulty with is the end of the brow, as the brow tapers off then my hairs taper off too so I have to finish using the pencil two thirds along the way of the brow, if I carry on trying to make some sort of line then it does look artificial.
I didn't think that it was hard to apply, of course the more you use it the more accomplished you become. Gradually you learn to apply just enough to make the brow look full but not `freaky`.
I say freaky because I always think that harshly pencilled brows look scary !
The Benefit Brow pencil has got its benefits, it has a couple of drawbacks too but they can be overcome.
If you apply the pencil to the whole brow area then this doubles up the effect on the areas where the brows are still thick and it further highlights the areas that are sparse - so I only apply the pencil to the sparse areas.
Don' t rub your brows accidentally ! The brow pencil is so light and powdery that there isn't that much to smudge but small smuts will appear if you rub too hard.
More often than not eyebrow pencils have reduced me to tears of frustration, my brows turn ginger with a brown pencil and look `witchified` if I use a black pencil and it has been a no-win situation.
I am pretty pleased with this little offering from Benefit, I may not use it every day and it might well be a bit of a pricey product but at least it works.
You don't feel self-concious when you have applied it either, so if you have poor brows like me then the Benefit Brow Pencil could be the answer.
You can remove it really easily, it just washes away, no scrubbing needed
I bought this eyebrow pencil from Benefit at Debenhams for about £12.50 (prices may vary now as I've seen a new VAT amount being applied) but it won't differ that much.
This pencil comes in 2 shades: light/ medium and medium/ dark. I use the light/ medium one as I've got bleach blonde hair and I'd look a bit silly with really dark eye brows.
One end has the pencil bit on it and the other end a little brush, so you can brush your brows before and after applying the product.
The colour is very natural and of much better quality than the cheaper alternatives. I find that some brands tend to make their browns too red, which makes my brows look ridiculous, however this stuff has the right amount of grey added to it so it looks very natural and convincing.
I comb my brows through with the little brush prior to applying the product so that my hairs are groomed and pointed in the right direction, then I apply the colour in tiny strokes to follow my own hair and give it a natural appearance, then when I'm done I'll comb through once more to blend everything together.
I'm very pleased with this product, a little goes a long way and whilst it may seem expensive, it's well worth it as the quality exceeds that of other cheaper products!
I am a huge Benefit fan and this is another great product. I have blonde hair and my eyebrows are not the most visible as they are so blonde they are almost invisible, so with this great Benefit product it enables my eyebrows to look more visible and natural without looking like they have been drawn on.
This Instant brow pencil comes in two colours light to medium and medium to dark, I use the light to medium. It retails at around £12.50 is a great product that lasts a long time and is worth every penny.
This instant brow pencil gives you natural looking eyebrows, to apply fill your eyebrows with short strokes to make them look as natural as possible, in the same direction as you hair naturally grows, if you do it in one big stroke they look far from you natural eyebrows.
This product is great as it is a pencil, but at the other end there is a brush so that you can brush your eyebrows to that they are all in the correct direction before applying the product.
This product lasts a long time and it also stays on my eyebrows all day so I have no need to reapply as it has a great staying power. This is a product that I recommend I have tried cheaper alternatives but they are no where near as good and I have to reapply through the day.
