“ Brand: Benefit / Type: Powder „
This is a review of the benefit product called Kitten: a sparkling powder in a puff.
I bought this in a set from last Christmas' sales with a Bad Gal mascara. I didn't really need either product but it was approximately £20 for the two and everyone who knows Benefit knows that's a bargain right?!
**Wow, what beautiful packaging*********
I love the packaging more than anything on this product. It comes in a cylindrical cardboard container with a picture of a glamour puss on the lid.
***More than a handful*********
Upon sliding the sleeve open you get to the puff which is a good size, approximately the size of my hand, so you can get a good grip on the product. It also has a ribbon sewn on to the top so you can pull it out with that too.
****Best used for nights out****
I find it best used after a nice soak in the bath, following moisturiser as it really sticks better to the body. You get a subtle glimmer like you've been airbrushed with fine sparkles but it's not big bits of glitter (like you get on some Christmas cards) ... I usually end up with that on my face and everyone thinks I'm bonkers.
**The final effect****
Benefit describe the glitter as a golden champagne finish and I think they are right. It's so lovely and soft and I use it everywhere: arms, legs, chest and love it! It has a light fragrance to it but not as strong as perfume, it's really subtle.
**The bad bit***
The only down side to Kitten is (apart from the ridiculous price) you just don't know when it's finished!! Mine's still going strong but only use it for special nights out now so I obviously don't get out enough.
**What's in it?***
Looking at the ingredients, this bit might put you off! The puff contains mica, talc, sea mays (corn) starch, titanium dioxxide, iron oxides, lauroyl lysine, carmine, methyparaben, propylparaben and fragrance.
All in all, Kitten is a bit of fun and whilst I like it, I think there are many cheaper products on the market that you'll get the same effect from. Those Benefit fans out there will have to have this but most would manage without it!
I'm a huge fan of products that look fancy on the shelf in the Bathroom or on my dressing table and I just love the vintage look of the Benefit Kitten classic box.
If you have never used or heard of Benefit before it is a luxury cosmetics brand, Their packaging is almost always fantastic and looks great displayed. Most of the Benefit products give off a 1950s glamour image. If you are not into really girly packaging and products then Benefit is not for you.
The leaflet advises that the item is a Sparkling powder in a puff. Kitten prowls all night and naps all day! Caress and stroke your body with this glistening powder-in-a-puff. ME-OW.
The cylindrical presentation case material is Card rather than plastic and two shades of pink with gold trim with what looks like a hand drawn kitten, the weight and the product name also wrote in a handwriting style font. The Lid which lifts off with ease is white and pink with the same gold trim, and another hand drawn style kitten picture applying the powder to her back using her tail and writing, Imagine something that would lie on Marilyn Monroe's dressing table and you will picture this box! In my opinion the box is fantastically classy.
Once you have got over the fabulous exterior you lift off the lid and are greeted with the large furry powder puff, which is the softest thing you have ever felt, imagine stroking a mink coat and double the softness.
The puff is pale powder pink with a Black Ribbon Bow which itself just oozes class.
You use the puff to lightly dust sparkling powder over your body, I apply it to my arms, chest, legs and a little on my hair before a night out to give me a subtle glow. you can either use the ribbon to apply or just hold the puff in your hand.
I also own the St Tropez bronzing puff and thought that this one would be similar but I was totally wrong, the Benefit powder does not bronze it just adds a subtle glow. The consistency is like an ultra fine glitter, the aim is not to look obvious but just to add a glow. The colour of the actual powder is gold with a pink tint. I suffer from skin problems and have to be really careful what I use and I can safely say that this product does not itch or irritate when you are wearing it possible because it is so light.
I always apply the product after I have moisturised which I think helps it to last all night, I would spray your perfume before application too as the spray may wash it off if used after.
I would guess Kitten is intended for night wear rather than day wear as you tend to wear more clothing and it would not be seen.
The Kitten Classic costs £19.50 for 10g. You must use it sparingly as the 10g does not last forever we all use different amounts so I wouldn't like to say how long it will last you but one bonus is after it has run out you can still use the puff with other products.
In my opinion this item is the prettiest Benefit item I own, even when the powder has gone I know I will be using the puff and box for other things.
If you are looking for the perfect present for your partner or friend then I would suggest you splash out and buy them this, they will thank you for it!
Because the product only leaves you with 50p change from a £20 note it looses a star.
I purchased my Kitten Classic from the Benefit website at http://www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk but the products are available at most Department stores and Larger Boots stores.
This product sums up the Benefit attitude to make up - Fun, Kitsch and Gorgeous packaging - without compromising on real quality and effectiveness. Benefit Kitten just screams to be purchased to add beauty to a dressing table, real retro 50s/60s glamour and style. A perfect valentines present, because it is so sexy and fun.
Inside the box the amazing packaging continues, with a big 50's powder puff, super soft and luxourious. When Kitten was launched it was quite a unique product - the 50s makeup revival hadn't begun, and the allure of being able to get some old style glamour onto my dressing table was too much to resist. Now makeup brands in all price ranges are producing similar products - but i can't say i've tried any of the alternatives, as I don't use my "kitten" very much anymore, so it's lasted a long time.
The powder applied by this is a very sparkly and shiny dust - which makes you glow. It is not however in any way subtle - you will literately be shining with glitter. The powder is very fine - so the glowing shine belnds well with the skin, but the shimmer glow does not look natural. I used to love this look for a night out (using Benefit Bathina Body So Fine for legs, and Kitten on the rest of me). As I moved from my teens to twenties I got a bit more subtle in my approach, so don't find so much use for this kind of glow anymore.
"Kitten" is still a good product for some nights out - or a night in the bedroom - and the excellent packaging is as appealing as when it was released - but the glowing skin this produces is not to everyones taste, and a more natural looking glow can be produced with less glittery products
I bought this powder puff in kitten classic (the silver coloured one) as I thought it would be a nice addition to my festive make up and perfume selection. The classic kitten glitter powder comes in a round container and all the glitter is actually in the puff so you'll just need to dab it on wherever you want a bit of sparkle. The sparkles are nice and made up of very fine silver glitter. It is noticeable but I tend to put on quite a bit as I love loads of sparkle. I don't see the point in just having a few sprinkled around here and there... But don't like to look like a disco ball either LOL.
Anyway, the puff and everything is good quality, one thing I would say is that I'm very likely not to buy this again. Simply because I have seen other similar products that cost less and appear to have a lot more glitter powder in the tin than these do. Unfortunately, some benefit products are too overpriced for what they are and I believe this one is one of them. They cost £19.50 per puff and honestly, you can get equal if not better body shimmers for less! All you need to do is just browse around. I found that the Dessert Beauty and Dessert Treats by Jessica Simpson had way more glitter in them and I got them pretty cheap on Ebay (6USD I believe). Sadly, I think these dessert products might now be discontinued but I'm sure you'll find good substitutes with trying out other, less pricey products.
I bought this last summer just before going on holiday as i wanted to get a body shimmer which I could use in the evening to give me a glow and accentuate my tan. I bought this from benefit as have tried a few of their products before and really like them. It costs around £19 so it rather pricey and at the higher end of the market.
When you get it it comes in quite a large old fashioned powder puff box which is very girly and pink. The puff contains the powder in it, so when you open the box there is simply the puff in there. You just dab the puff over your body where you want the shimmer and it looks realy good. Its silver and chimmery and very subtle but looks really good especially at enhancing your cleavage and on the tops of shoulders. Its strange because i expeceted you would dip the puff into the powder but the powdr is held within the puff and just gently dispurses when you dab it onto your body. I have had this over a year now and it is still coming out (just) so although it is expensive it lasts a long time, and its not something you would use everyday so is definately worth investing in. The smell is really nice as wellslightly perfume scented and so makes your skin not lonly look gorgeous and glowing but smell divine.
Let me just start by saying that if you?re not big on fancy packaging and unnecessary expense then this one is certainly not for you. However if you, like me, are completely taken in by all the glitz, glamour and pure indulgence that BeneFit products are renowned for producing then read on, cautiously?.and prepare your purse for a battering. If you were wondering about the title, it means, 'feel like a Queen for a day.' BeneFit is a luxury cosmetics brand, offering only the best the world of beauty an offer. Their packaging is almost as, if not more significant than the products they contain. BeneFit is unique in that it chooses not to employ ultra modern minimalistic packaging but substitutes it for an eye-catching, sometimes gaudy, 50s glamour image. The ?Kitten goes to Paris? sparkling powder puff that I am going to review is no exception to this rule. It simply oozes class ? a lightweight cylindrical presentation case combining pale lilac, pastel mauve and minimal speckles of silver with a picturesque sketched scene of Paris at night. Various splatterings of the signature BeneFit ?Kitten? font grace the container to inform us of what delights this little gem is sure to produce. The Paris night scene depicts Kitten holding the powder puff on the end of her tail and applying the sparkling powder to a tiny poodle. Ok, so it sounds bizarre and a little twisted, but trust me it?s cute! The powder appears to be identical to the miniscule stars in the sky, suggesting that Kitten has picked individual stars from the sky just for our BeneFit. It is just me that finds this absolutely adorable? The lid willingly slides off and inside this luxurious exterior lies a large furry powder puff, soft as velvet and carrying a subtle, yet alluring fragrance. The puff is lilac in colour and has three
black satin ribbons looped on the top of it right in the centre. If you attached an elastic neck strap you could be forgiven for mistaking it for a fancy hat at Ascot on Ladies Day! After all this plush packaging I expect you are wondering what this product actually DOES apart from look pretty? It makes ME look pretty! Well, perhaps that is a bit of an overstatement but it is basically exactly what it states on the box ?a sparkling party powder in a puff.? Kitten describes herself as ?sheer nighttime seduction? and that she is! You use the puff to lightly dust sparkling powder over any parts you wish to attract more than a fleeting glance. I generally apply a little to my arms, plenty on my chest and a light dusting on my legs if they?re on show. You can use the looped ribbons to put your fingers through if you find it easier, but more often than not I just hold the puff in the palm of my hand. The powder?s consistency is not comparable to anything I have used before. It is much finer than glitter and even finer than some shimmery eye powders. It is so subtle that it probably would not be particularly noticeable on someone at first sight, they?d simply have obtained a sexy shimmery glow about them. The colour of the actual powder is silver with a tinge of lilac ? really stunning when on the skin. It does not itch or irritate when you are wearing it because it is so light that you won?t even know it?s there. However, there has to be a down side to everything. I find that the shimmery look does not last all night. It stays on providing you don?t have too much contact with other fabrics but it is normally gone half way through the night. One way to combat this might be to apply some moisturiser and then apply the powder shortly after to try and make it stay a bit better, but I always forget to do this.
4;he ?Kitten goes to Paris? is not the only puff that BeneFit offer. There are three in this range: Kitten goes to Paris. Classic Kitten. Kitten shops New York City. Kitten goes to Paris is intended for night wear. Classic Kitten and Kitten shops New York City are more intended for daywear as their colouring is warmer, similar to a bronzer only more understated. The cases for these puffs are equally as stunning as the Kitten goes to Paris one. All the puffs cost the same price £19.50 for 10g. They are certainly luxury items and as 10g is not a lot, you must use them sparingly! It is hard to say how long one puff would last, because different people would use it in different amounts, and only on special occasions. I would certainly not use this regularly; I save it for a little indulgence every now and then. My Kitten powder puff set is gorgeous, and using it makes me feel like a queen! I can?t honestly say it?s great value for money, it?s simply great marketing which nets people like me (and my mum) ? but it is certainly a extravagant product that I enjoy treating myself to on special occasions. I am not certain whether I will buy another one from the range, they do look very inviting! But one thing is for sure ? my Kitten puff will be living on my dressing table LONG after the powder has gone. So, the final verdict? The best packaging I own bar none, stunningly sexy product although very subtle, very expensive for the amount that you?re buying ? but I believe that you?re buying more than just 10g of a silvery lilac powder, you?re buying the BeneFit image, and the lifestyle of a goddess. BeneFit counters can be found in larger Boots stores, House of Fraser and a
few other major department stores, or alternatively visit their website at www.benefitcosmetics.com I'm afraid it loses one star for the price. carly_pussycat - dooyoo UK ©
I am a huge fan of Benefit products....I just love them, and this is another one of my faves. It is a glistening, fine shimmer powder for the body. It comes in three colours. One is gold, one is pinky/gold and the other is silver (with a hint of lilac). Silver is the one I use. The powder is pakaged in a beautiful round box, you would imagine it was something from the forties that would bless a forties starlets dressing table. It looks very glamourous wrapped in black netting. Inside you get a powder puff topped with a ribbon. Inside the box is the magical powder. The powder is very fine particles of glitter (mine is silver). They are so fine is gives a slight shimmer. You can top up the glitter with each rub. If you put more presure on the skin more will come out. It looks so natural, and you just brush it on. It doesnt seem to get on my clothes or face, but if it does fret not, it is easily rubbed off. However I have actually brushed this on the top of my trousers, purposely it does look nice and gives them a bit of glamour. This powder can be used anywhere. I like to use it when I wear a low-cut top. I brush it on my cheast and cleveage. I brush it on my arms too. I have not yet worn it on my legs but it would look nice with a brush down the front. It is great to wear in your hair as it is so subtle. I have black hair and it really does look nice. I would like to stress that this is more like a shimmery dust then glitter, I would not wear glitter in my hair or on my body, except for my eyes. When I wear this people comment on it, because it looks so pretty. I really feel glamourous when I wear it. It is best suited when you wear black, because the silver colour I use looks great against that. However if you want to wear others colours there are gold and a pinky gold, and they tend to go with more things. Personally I have not tried the other colours, because I really love the silver. I dont even need to wear jewellery with it, it
dresses up any outfit without looking harsh. Because of the popularity of this product, (Andrea Corr being a huge fan) there are so many replicas out there that you will find in boots etc. But they just dont compare and usually smell of rose or lavender, which is rather ageing. Maybe for suited for your grandma. But if your on a budget go for it! But I have tried and they do not compare to this. This screams glamour..... It costs about £20.00 which I think is expensive for a shimmer powder, but this is well well worth it, and it lasts and lasts. I have had it for a year, and I dont wear it often, only on special occasions to give me instant glamour. Just remeber it is very natural, and you can continually brush if you want more impact, but I bought this becuase I didnt want it to be OTT. If you like it natural, and you want to be a glamourpuss, then purchase this. This is a product I would only wear a night, because it comes out in the dark. It is a wonderful product and if you only buy it just to look good on your dresser, that would be enough, this product is pure glamour..............
I love everything about this product. The packaging is pretty, with an illustration of a 'cat-lady' on a chaise-longue, powder puff in tail. It's effective and it lasts. The way that it works is that the powder is impregnated inton the puff, so that when you dust yourself with it the shimmer comes off on your skin. Not a sparkle is wasted. It is a useless item really, which is great. I just think that it's good to have girl-things which make you feel pretty, and that nobody can take away from you, because they can't really understand what you want them for in the first place. Men, in particular, don't understand the lure of Kitten. I do. It makes me feel lovely when I'm feeling down, and that's all that matters. So, puff it across your boobs on the way out the door and go out and get 'em tiger, grrrrrrr. Miaow. Benefit have just brought out a new version called 'Kitten Goes To Paris' , which has a lilac/silver glittery powder, it's priced the same and comes in a similar box, this time lilac. Lovely too. As part of that same range, they have brought out a soap-on-a-rope with a difference, the rope is made of fake pearls, and the box is amazing. It's priced at about £20.00 as well. I bought one of each for 2 of my friends 21st birthdays and had them wrapped up by the assistants for free. I'd recommend anyone who is buying Benefit stuff to ask for this wether it's a gift or not! They'll wrap it in black tulle with a ribbon and put it in a gorgeous box with tissue and tie it with a bow. Mmmmmm.
Packaged in an old fashioned powder box, you lift the lid to reveal a pretty pink powder puff / The powder in the tin is a scented highlighting, glimmering with a silvery lilac finish
