Advantages: Exquisite packaging, Nice effect, Softly scented
Disadvantages: Expensive
Let me just start by saying that if you?re not big on fancy packaging and unnecessary expense then this one is certainly not for you. However if you, like me, are completely taken in by all the glitz, glamour and pure indulgence that BeneFit products are renowned for producing then read on, cautiously?.and prepare your purse for a battering. If you were wondering about the title, it means, 'feel like a Queen for a day.' BeneFit is a luxury cosmetics brand, offering only the best the world of beauty an offer. Their packaging is almost as, if not more significant than the products they contain. BeneFit is unique in that it chooses not to employ ultra modern minimalistic packaging but substitutes it for an eye-catching, sometimes gaudy, 50s glamour image. The ?Kitten goes to Paris? sparkling powder puff that I am going to review is no exception to this rule. It simply oozes class ? a lightweight cylindrical presentation case combining pale lilac, pastel mauve and minimal speckles of silver with a picturesque sketched scene of Paris at night. Various splatterings of the signature BeneFit ?Kitten? font grace the container to inform us of what delights this little gem is sure to produce. The Paris night scene depicts Kitten holding the powder puff on the end of her tail and applying the sparkling powder to a tiny poodle. Ok, so it sounds bizarre and a little twisted, but trust me it?s cute! The powder appears to be identical to the miniscule stars in the sky, suggesting that Kitten has picked individual stars from the sky just for our BeneFit. It is just me that finds this absolutely adorable? The lid willingly slides off and inside this luxurious exterior lies a large furry powder puff, soft as velvet and carrying a subtle, yet alluring fragrance. The puff is lilac in colour and has three
black satin ribbons looped on the top of it right in the centre. If you attached an elastic neck strap you could be forgiven for mistaking it for a fancy hat at Ascot on Ladies Day! After all this plush packaging I expect you are wondering what this product actually DOES apart from look pretty? It makes ME look pretty! Well, perhaps that is a bit of an overstatement but it is basically exactly what it states on the box ?a sparkling party powder in a puff.? Kitten describes herself as ?sheer nighttime seduction? and that she is! You use the puff to lightly dust sparkling powder over any parts you wish to attract more than a fleeting glance. I generally apply a little to my arms, plenty on my chest and a light dusting on my legs if they?re on show. You can use the looped ribbons to put your fingers through if you find it easier, but more often than not I just hold the puff in the palm of my hand. The powder?s consistency is not comparable to anything I have used before. It is much finer than glitter and even finer than some shimmery eye powders. It is so subtle that it probably would not be particularly noticeable on someone at first sight, they?d simply have obtained a sexy shimmery glow about them. The colour of the actual powder is silver with a tinge of lilac ? really stunning when on the skin. It does not itch or irritate when you are wearing it because it is so light that you won?t even know it?s there. However, there has to be a down side to everything. I find that the shimmery look does not last all night. It stays on providing you don?t have too much contact with other fabrics but it is normally gone half way through the night. One way to combat this might be to apply some moisturiser and then apply the powder shortly after to try and make it stay a bit better, but I always forget to do this.
4;he ?Kitten goes to Paris? is not the only puff that BeneFit offer. There are three in this range: Kitten goes to Paris. Classic Kitten. Kitten shops New York City. Kitten goes to Paris is intended for night wear. Classic Kitten and Kitten shops New York City are more intended for daywear as their colouring is warmer, similar to a bronzer only more understated. The cases for these puffs are equally as stunning as the Kitten goes to Paris one. All the puffs cost the same price £19.50 for 10g. They are certainly luxury items and as 10g is not a lot, you must use them sparingly! It is hard to say how long one puff would last, because different people would use it in different amounts, and only on special occasions. I would certainly not use this regularly; I save it for a little indulgence every now and then. My Kitten powder puff set is gorgeous, and using it makes me feel like a queen! I can?t honestly say it?s great value for money, it?s simply great marketing which nets people like me (and my mum) ? but it is certainly a extravagant product that I enjoy treating myself to on special occasions. I am not certain whether I will buy another one from the range, they do look very inviting! But one thing is for sure ? my Kitten puff will be living on my dressing table LONG after the powder has gone. So, the final verdict? The best packaging I own bar none, stunningly sexy product although very subtle, very expensive for the amount that you?re buying ? but I believe that you?re buying more than just 10g of a silvery lilac powder, you?re buying the BeneFit image, and the lifestyle of a goddess. BeneFit counters can be found in larger Boots stores, House of Fraser and a
few other major department stores, or alternatively visit their website at www.benefitcosmetics.com I'm afraid it loses one star for the price. carly_pussycat - dooyoo UK ©

- 13/04/04 Sounds adorable, but my budget runs to basic at the moment. I love cute containers and boxes. If I was rich I'd buy things just for the cute factor. :D |
