Advantages: May work on some people
Disadvantages: Doesn't work on me, expensive
As you may have noticed if you read a lot of my reviews, I've reviewed several benefit products so far and have given 5 stars to all of them. I would say that they are definitely my favourite makeup company, and I am impressed with the quality of their products.
However, 'Lip Plump' is the only product that I own from Benefit which I don't think is good. I got a small amount of this as part of the 'Realness of Concealness' set, but even though I love the rest of the kit, I could have done without this one.
*Why I don't like it*
First of all, and most importantly, this product doesn't seem to work on me. The product information says that you should add a few dots to your lips then rub it in, then leave for 2 minutes before applying lipstick. I don't normally wear lipstick, but when I've tried this I've left a couple of minutes before adding lip gloss or Vaseline, and I can't say that it makes it work any better. My lips look no bigger or fuller than they did before I added it, and in fact, before I put on lip gloss the lines on my lips look even more prominent. Not the result I was hoping for, nor the one that was intended. My lips feel fairly dry when I first apply it, and I wouldn't want to add lipstick after it because I think it would make my lips feel really dry and irritable.
*Packaging/price/extra info*
You're probably not fancying buying this product after I gave it a bad review, but if you are here's the normal information I normally give on my makeup reviews. You can buy this in a tube that looks like a lip gloss tube, and comes with the normal lip gloss applicator. A 7g tube costs £14.50, and this is the only size in which this product is available. However, if like me you wanted a lot of concealing products but in small quantities to try them, then you can get it as part of the 'Realness of Concealness' kit for £22.50, which contains 2.5g worth of lip plump. You can buy this buy itself or as part of the kit from most Benefit stands, which can be found in larger Boots stores, and some Debenham's and House of Frasers.
Summary: Lip plumper from benefit, but it doesn't really work.
