      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A pretty average under the eye concealer

Benefit say - "With just a click of this concealing pen you've got a lightly tinted under-eye colour corrector that's swift, fast, and oh-so-sly!"

Personally, I am a big fan of concealers aimed at covering those pesky dark circles which I often get under my eyes from being a bit of a bad sleeper. This 'Lyin Eyes' concealer is quite a light coverage so it won't hideaway all the sins of the night before, but it will make you look that bit more awake.

This is really straight forward and simple to use, you can apply this both over and/or under your makeup. If you are in need of that little bit more of a lift then I tend to apply it both as a base and then a little touch more when I have finished applying everything else. It is such a light texture that even with this double application it doesn't look clumpy or too heavy.

The concealer is available in three shades, I own the fairest. The colour is quite light but it is so easily blended that I think it would suit quite a few different skin tones. It also comes in pretty standard packaging for this type of product with a click bottom and a brush applicator.

      --The cost--

If you are going to buy this from the Benefit counter then expect to pay £16.50 for a 1ml tube with applicator brush.

So do I think this product is worth the price? Well it isn't the most expensive concealer of this kind, I am sure at least most of you will have an idea to the much more advertised expensive counterpart and this one isn't the cheapest choice available either - it's pretty mid range. I don't think I would rush out and buy this one again, I think it just a pretty average conceale,r but it is a tough market out there with so many of these great products.

      --To sum--

This deserves a pretty average three out of five stars. As a big fan of the Benefit range I expected more from this product than it delivers. It is just a pretty mediocre concealer that does what you want but no more better than some of the cheaper alternatives that I own.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A concealer designed specifically for under your eyes.

I always seem to suffer from dark circles under my eyes, no matter how healthily I eat or how many early nights I get! I’ve tried so many eye concealers and just normal concealers over the past couple of years that I think I’m a bit of an expert really; my make up case would confirm this claim! I’m also a bit of a Benefit junkie; although the make up range itself is quite extortionately priced I do tend to make the odd splurge every couple of months and as I’ve always been pleased with the quality of the other products, I decided to invest in a Benefit concealer.

Now a friend of mine always told me never to use a regular concealer around my eyes as it just wouldn’t have the same effect and since then, I’ve always tried to stick to this – whether she’s right or not is another thing entirely. As such I was pleased to find that they made a concealer solely for the eye area, rather appropriately called Lyin Eyes Concealer Wand. For those of you that don’t know Benefit products always tend to have rather imaginative names!

        Packaging

The product itself comes in a black, plastic wand type casing which is about 5 inches in length. The lid easily unclicks to reveal the brush type wand, similar to those found in other concealers. To dispense the product you simply press down on the opposite end of the wand, be careful that you don’t click too much as the concealer will ooze out – one click each time you use the wand will be enough to cover both eyes.

        Product

The concealer itself is a pale golden brown colour which looks quite like foundation at first glance, the product comes in three different colours; light, medium and dark so of course the colour will vary depending on your choice. The good thing is that you should be able to find one quite close to your skin tone which always helps. It’s quite thin in consistency with no real smell to it at all.

        Application

To apply simply click on the bottom of the wand and then brush the actual wand brush under each eye about 1cm along each dark circle. This will distribute a very thin layer of the concealer under each eye and then all you need to do is smooth it in. I say smooth rather than rub as vigorous action is not recommended as your eye skin is very delicate and you also risk rubbing the majority of the product into your fingers rather than your actual face. The concealer absorbs instantly and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy at all, just slightly moisturised.

        Results

When I first put the concealer on I couldn’t really see the difference if I’m honest, and this still applies even to this day! However once I’ve put my make up on over the top and gone out, whenever I look in the mirror I can tell that my dark circles have been covered somewhat. I say somewhat because sadly this wand doesn’t quite live up to its claim to conceal your dark circles completely, it simply lightens them somewhat. I probably wouldn’t buy this product again as I think there are cheaper ones out there that do a similar job and it is rather expensive at £16.50. On the upside I have had my wand since Christmas and with daily usage it’s only just running out so it does last a long time.

This product gets 3 stars, it does do its job quite well but quite frankly it’s not the kind of results I was expecting for the price I paid.

        Thanks for reading!
