Benefit Miss Popularity Highlighter Make Up

Advantages: Good for highlighting the eyes
Disadvantages: Expensive, Over rated, minimal amount of powder for the cost
Ok like in my previous reviews of Benefit products I will give a little overview about how it Benefit started; Back in 1976 twin sisters Jean and Jane Ford opened up their first Boutique in San Francisco known as " The Face Place", The sisters passion for make-up mixed along with the high quality products they sold, their originality and the sisters combined sense of humour ,which we see depicted through the sassy packaging and witty product names today started to attract a lot of attention and in 1990 they re branded and became as what we all know today "Benefit". At that point they had 5 Boutiques within the San Francisco area but with the help of word of mouth, popularity and high demand it soon started to see Benefit counters opening in Department stores across the world. They had literally put fun into make-up and girls and women absolutely loved it.
Now if any of you have read any of my Benefit reviews before you will know that Make-up and Benefit products are one of my Penchants in life, I just love their make and find it very hard passing a Benefit counter without sneaking a peek to see whats new and usually purchasing something to add to my ever growing collection
Now just before christmas I was updating my make up and Benefit had a promotional offer that if you purchased any two benefit products in one transaction you would receive a free gift worth £17.50
This free Gift was "Miss Popularity"
Miss Popularity is a precision highlighter that is designed for highlighting key areas of your face, that by using this product Benefit claim that you can create big bright eyes, perk up your smile, slimify your nose, enhance your clevage and be popular! That suitable for both daytime and evening wear you can enhance your best assets or glam up and add that extra bit of shimmer fot a night out.
Now the procuct comes in a cute, sassy and very girlie rectangular box which is purple, pink and lilac in colour, it has a small window to the front which is incorported very well within the box design as surrounding the window printed are a very threatrical pair of curtains which display the product inside very well.
To the left hand side of the box is a full out flap with a section which reveals a glamorous beauty queen and tips and tricks for the user of the product.
Housed within this box is a small white bottle with a purple screw top lid
now this bottle which the highlighter comes in is extremely deceptive and misleading. The screw top bottle is small as it is so to find once you open it for the first time that it acually contains a small hollow tube down the centre and thats all the powder is contained within is disappointing.
So if your expecting the bottle to be full of powder its not at all, infact the bottle contains a very minimal amount which really does question why its so very expensive.
Now once you unscrew the lid you have access to a rounded sponge applicator, now this is also housed within this hollow tube so it will give you even more of an idea how little powder there actually is inside 2g/0.07oz.
Inside the tube Miss Popularity it's actually a very fine powder, it comes out on the applicator looking sheer white but when you apply it to the skin it leaves a transparent shimmer with hints of silver and iridescent pink. Application is easy and you only need a minial amount on the tip of the applicator when you apply to the desired areas.
Benefit has some great suggestions where you can apply Miss Popularity:
As I said the box has a section of Tips and tricks:
For bright eyes... apply to the triangle of the eyes & blend.
Perk up your smile... apply to the outer corners of lips & blend.
Slimify your nose... apply 3 dots down the middle & blend.
To enhance cleavage... apply above your bra line and blend.
Now I will say that when applying the powder formula blends really well although when it comes to applying to the inner corner of the eye I did wish the applicator tip wasnt so big.
It leaves a nice shimmer to the skin and not a glittery look which some highlighters out there can do.
Now to be totally honest and I am very supprised that Im saying this about a benefit product but I am very glad that I got this as a freebie from the benefit counter, I certainly would not have paid £17.50 for this product. I was not impressed with the results at all. It did nothing to perk up my smile, it didnt slimify my nose and certainly did nothing for my clevage, it just made me look all shimmery. The only thing that Miss Popularity had going for it is that it did help to make my eyes look more brighter and sparkly, other than that I would call it no more than a shimmer powder.
Unless you are looking for a highlighter for your eyes I wouldnt bother.
Retailing at £17.50 from Benefit, various department stores and Boots for 2g of powder I personally believe that this is a very poor and overpriced product from Benefit but I guess that this depends on your own personal preferece as I have friends that do nothing but hype about this product but personally I wouldn't bother.
If you are interested and your not getting it as a freebie I would advise that you test it out first at a local benefit counter, let one of the girls show what it does on you.
A very disappointing Product from Benefit.
Summary: A very disappointing product from Benefit
