Advantages: Good coverage, ease of use, skin benefits
Disadvantages: Price
Playsticks is a combined concealer and foundation from Benefit available in 8 shades. Their palest shade, Jax, is the one I use, and the colours range from here to quite dark so they generally cater for everybody.
This foundation comes in stick form with a twisting base. The idea behind the name and product is that it's supposed to be fun and easy to use. To use it as a foundation, you can either apply with a brush or sweep the stick directly on the face and then blend. I tend to use a brush, but it's easy to use either way and due to its creamy texture, it goes on really well and sinks nicely into the skin, leaving no 'chalky' effect. To use as a concealer, I tend to just use my foundation brush holding the bristles taught and dab where I need it. It covers well and obviously using this as a foundation on top, it blends very well together.
This foundation gives quite a dewy finish and medium to full coverage. It's easy to build up depending on the coverage you want, and you can use as little or as much as you like. The only problem I've had whilst using this foundation is that it doesn't stay as long as I'd like. I'd say around 5-6 hours, but I think this is more to do with my skin than anything else.
Benefit Playsticks also claims to be good for skin, containing camomile to soothe skin and tea tree oil to prevent spots. I can't say whether or not it's had a positive effect on my skin, but there've definitely been no outbreaks because of it.
I recommend this to anyone who wants a light foundation with good coverage, and to anyone wanting something easy and non-messy to use. I'd also recommend this product to anyone with pale skin struggling to find a good colour match - Jax is one of the lightest I've been able to find.
It costs around £25 but it's supposed to last a good while. I bought mine at a discount on eBay.
Summary: Good coverage, nice finish and ideal for someone with pale skin
