Advantages: A novel duo.

Disadvantages: Handle the Pocket Pal with care or you will end up spilling it.

As you may well have guessed I really enjoy trying out new cosmetics, I admit that the whole process can be a bit hit and miss, some products are good, others are mediocre and some are a bit lacking to say the least. But the whole thrill of trying something new excites me ! ( Oh I am easily pleased!)
Last week I was 40 plus a few years extra and to mark the day my friend and I went off into Derby to have a browse around the Westfield Centre but before we left the city I said that we just had to go and pay our normal visit to Debenhams, one of my favourite stores.

They have a great make-up counter, one that looks tempting and it is really hard to walk away empty handed - and I am afraid that I have never succeeded as yet.
I have bought quite a few bits and bobs from the Benefit range and up to date I have always been lucky and pleased with the end result.

The Benefit Pocket pal is a new and interesting idea, a dual purpose skin tint ( lip and cheek ) that comes in an attractive mascara shaped casing. The central part of the casing is divided into two, one side is filled with skin tint and the other side is filled with a clear gloss to give the tint a good shiny finish.
Both ends of the Pocket Pal unscrew from the central barrel but you need to keep the Pocket Pal at the right angle to get a good flow.
The Pocket Pal has two applicators which both come out of the central part, one to apply the tint and a separate one to use for the clear gloss.

Benefit cosmetics call this product a skin tint and there is never a truer word spoken, the rose coloured tint takes hold as soon as you apply it to your skin.
Before you even think about using the Pocket Pal skin tint you need to make doubly sure that your skin is well moisturised, if you ignore that fact the tint highlights any dry skin and it stands out like a sore thumb.
The Benefit rose coloured tint is easy to apply, I only use a small amount because I want to achieve a fairly natural look but if you are young and confident then you can have lovely vibrant glossy lips that would look striking.
Likewise I only use a light layer of the clear gloss too but you need to make sure that the lip tint is fully dry before you apply the layer of gloss.
When you have applied the layer of rose skin tint then before you think about applying the clear gloss you need to make sure that you put the screw cap back on tightly before you tip it up, if you don't then the colour tint may well spill out.

The Benefit rose coloured skin tint has a matte finish and if you chose to then you could wear it flat but I like to top it off with a light layer of gloss, it looks far more attractive.
Benefit have designed the cosmetic to act as a lip tint and a cheek colour, I have only used it on my lips I think it would be too `rosy` for my complexion.

Does it have staying power ?
Staying power is not the word ! The Benefit skin tint is strong and long lasting and you will still be wearing it at the end of the day. The gloss needs to be `topped up`, that does not last as long.
When you come to remove the lip tint you will need a good make up remover pad and then the skin tint can be fully removed.

The Benefit Pocket Pal is a good idea, two products for the price of one, although at nigh on £13 it is not the cheapest of the bunch by any means.
The Rose coloured skin tint is strong and once it is in place on your lips then it does stay put but you may notice an odd crease forming, especially in warmer weather.
The skin tint is not sticky either.
But I use a lip liner and that stops the skin tint from wandering outside of my natural lip line.

If I had one criticism it would be that the liquid could easily be spilled out of the casing by accident but unless Benefit change the design of the casing then there is no way around that problem.
The product puts you in control, if you want a natural look then one layer of lip tint will be enough, if you want vibrancy then build the colour up layer by layer until you get the colour that you want.

I like the Benefit Pocket Pal, you can put it in your handbag and it takes up hardly any space. It could be seen as being a bit on the expensive side but there are far more costly products out there on the shelves.

Summary: I like this, it is a good idea.
