Advantages: Does what it promises, cute packaging.
Disadvantages: Expensive!
One of my pet hates is going out in the rain as it ruins my entire night. Yes I may well be overreacting but you girls will know what I mean – your hair goes frizzy, your feet gets wet and worst of all your mascara runs even when it’s meant to be waterproof! Or so I thought, but thanks to a little invention by the makers of Benefit it need not run anymore!
She-Laq is a clear coloured liquid with quite a strong smell, a mixture of nail varnish remover and eye make up remover. It comes in a little blue glass bottle with a screw on black lid and there’s a nail varnish type brush attached to the black lid of the bottle. The bottle comes in a little black cardboard box and also contained in there is a little blue bag with four different brushes in – one shaped like a mascara wand, one shaped like an eye shadow application brush and two shaped like lip liner and lip stick brushes.
So what do you do with the product? Well it’s quite simply, you merely apply it on top of your make up and by that I mean anything to do with your eyes and lips. It can go over eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and lip stick and applies just like you would the actual product except you use one of the small brushes supplied with it. It dries in a couple of seconds and acts as almost a “set” for your make up which apparently means it will stay on until you then use make up remover. Always remember to wash the brushes in cold water and let them dry after it otherwise you’ll find they clog up and go rather hard.
The TEST!
7.30pm – Applied make up as normal and applied She-Laq over my eye liner, mascara and lip stick.
8.00pm – Made it out to the taxi without getting too wet, although that’s not including my shoes.
9.00pm – First check in the toilet, everything still perfectly in place and no need to reapply.
11.00pm – Sight a little worse for wear but everything appears in place, including all vital body parts.
2.00am – Stumbled home and managed to locate my face, not a single smudge of mascara at all!
Successful evening! But what’s more, next morning I woke up without having removed my make up and it’s still in place. I had slightly smudged the mascara when rolling over in the night but normally after going out in the rain AND drinking AND sleeping it ends up close to my chin! I use She-Laq most days on my eye make up but as I rarely use lip make up I tend to only use it then on nights out. Since discovering She-Laq I’ve never had the problems of smudged mascara or eye liner and I can honestly say it’s worth every penny. Now it does cost £18.50 for 10ml which is very pricey – even more expensive than perfume, but I’ve had my bottle since Christmas and I’m only just about half way through it so if it lasts me a year on daily usage then I’m happy.
Thanks for reading!
