She-laq is yet another little gem from the wonderful genius of Benefit. Deemed a "magical makeup sealer" it really is magic and I love love love it.

'She laq' comes in a 15ml glass bottle with a brush attached to the lid sort of like a nail polish. However, it also comes with a really cute little blue organza bag with 4 tiny makeup applicator brushes, one of which is a really handy mascara wand. This means you don't need to use the brush that's attached to the bottle so you don't contaminate the rest of the liquid with a dirty brush and makeup residue.

So how does it work? Well 'She laq' is pretty much the same consistency as water, and you simply paint it over your makeup using the brushes that come with it. When it dries it seals your makeup in. Make sure you wash the brushes before it dries or it's kind of like trying to wash out glue.

Does it work? Well yes, mostly. I use 'She-laq' purely for setting my mascara and eyeliner in place and it does the job. Without it I have a permanent smudge of black under my eyes (I guess my eyes must water alot). But with 'She laq' no more nasty panda eyes. However... I haven't found this to be 100% perfect - go for a swim in the sea and you can still kiss goodbye to your perfectly applied mascara. However it takes alot more water to make your makeup budge if you have She laq on, and when exposed to water it tends to smudge rather than run, which is alot less unsightly. However, it does seem to withstand crying so is perfect for sealing your makeup for a wedding or other emotional occasions.

I also tried painting 'She laq' over eyeshadow, which with perserverance works well, it holds it in place all day... BUT when you paint it on it tends to wash off half the eyeshadow, so it takes like three applications of eyeshadow-she laq-eyeshadow-she laq-eyeshadow-she laq etc to get an even cover. Great eventually, but not ideal if you are in a rush!

One final tiny issue is that if you get this product in your eyes it huuuuuuurts, which isn't ideal considering I only use it for painting over my eyeliner and mascara. Nonetheless I love 'she laq' - it means you don't have to worry about buying a bunch of waterproof/smudgeproof mascaras etc, which never turn out to be waterproof anyway. It's also great for sealing lip colour, FAR better than lipcote which I always finds peels right off as if it were PVA glue and makes you look like you have a fairly serious skin condition.

'She laq' is a great all round makeup sealer. At £18.50 it's not cheap, but cheaper than buying all waterproof makeup products and great as it can be used all over. I feel there is room for improvement in the formula, but it's the best product of its kind that I have found and for me it's just great. Definitely worth buying and the bottle lasts a good few months!
