I originally got the Benefit Pore Professional, a primer, as a freebee when I bought a few other Benefit items. However I have bought the full size version since, as I believe it is a good product.
***WHAT TO BENEFIT CLAIM? ***
Benefit claim the product to be a primer, or pro balm as they call it, to minimize the appearance of pores. The product is suitable for use both under and over make-up.
Oil free, lightweight and translucent.
***SO IS THIS THE “PORE fessional “ IT CLAIMS TO BE? ***
So to start on opening you box you get a very useful little how to apply guide! This shows you in both picture and word format, which I think, is a great idea, as it shows you EXACTLY how to and where to apply.
So most people use their primer in the morning. After first cleaning and moisturizing your face you can begin to apply the primer.
All you need is a small amount of the cream that comes out as a sort of pale beige colour. The colour at first I was a bit unsure of, as I am pale skinned but fear not, the primer absorbs and gives a brightening effect to my skin but no actual colour I would say.
The texture is oh so good! It really does feel silky smooth and after applying to my skin is much more refined and pores are much more difficult to see. I tend to use the primer mainly around my nose and chin, but you could put it anywhere on your face. It is absorbed within seconds – I really mean that – I was so surprised at the benefit of it and after then applying my foundation, it helps keep my make-up set for longer.
After a while in the day I tend to get oily breakthroughs, especially on my forehead and nose or T zone. I used to apply face powder, which sometimes just cakes up my skin. Now I just dab on a little of the pore professional. It takes away the shine but without giving a set matt look, instead you achieve a sheen of healthy looking skin.
As they say in the leaflet, take it in your handbag for emergency top ups – I do!
Overall, the product it fantastic in my opinion! It does everything I want and need. It is oil free, which is great as I have combination skin. Its light so does not weigh down my skin before I have even applied make-up. It gives my skin a more flawless complexion that is easier to apply my foundation and makes it last longer too! Basically I love it!
The primer comes in a mint green mix cardboard box.
The box provides you with lots of information about the product regarding how to apply it both under and over make-up.
At the bottom is a full list of ingredients, which are as follows: -
Cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, isononyl isononanoate, silic, dimethicone crosspolymer, isododecane, phenoxyethanol, polymethyl methacrylate, titanium dioxide (cl 77891), cyclohexasiloxane, tocopheryl acetate, parfum, mica, iron oxides (c77492), limonene, iron oxides (cl 77491, c77499) triethoxycaprylylsilane, bht.
This may seem a little scary with all the metal, but it is quite common in many products of make-up now and if ever unsure research on the Internet for any possible ingredients that may irritate your skin type.
***PRICE AND AVAILABILITY***
For 22 mls you should expect to pay about £24.50. This does seem a lot to some I am sure but a little goes a long way and you can often pick up good deals and sample on the website.
Available from Benefit counters in bigger department store of Debenhams, Boots and House of Frazer. Benefit stores in some bigger cities. Online at www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk or in other make-up online stores.

The Benefit the POREfessional face primer is available for GBP 24.50.
The primer is described as follows. "Quickly minimise the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals."
The ingredients are CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIMETHICONE, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, ISONONYL ISONONANOATE, SILICA, DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, ISODODECANE, PHENOXYETHANOL, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), MICA, IRON OXIDES (CI 77492), LIMONENE, IRON OXIDES (CI 77491), IRON OXIDES (CI 77499), TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, BHT. N° 04932/N.
The primer is skin-colored, while also quite bright, but he does not cover. So you need not be afraid that your own skin is too light or dark - just as well could have been the balm white. It is my opinion odorless and in consistency as cream - maybe a little harder. The primer can be applied under or over the MakeUp (or even without makeup). But one simply takes a small amount of the balm - with a small amount I really mean very little; initially you overdo it easy - and dabbing it gently onto the affected skin area. The balm is simply rubbed gently and you should see the baby's skin complexion. Unfortunately, this is in my opinion not really the case. My first impression of the effect was that the skin is gently brushed, which indeed is quite a nice side effect, and is also a good make-up base. Nevertheless, I find the soft-focus effect that this product indeed should now have mainly very weak. Ok, you can already see a slight optical improvement of bumps, but at the price I would have expected a little more than that. I've tried some products of this type, and there were already what with who have done more for less money. Actually, I'm used to benefit even more, why am having now somewhat surprised. Against wrinkles the product really helps not at all and even my not really large pores are easily softened only with much good will and imagination. If you have really large, visible pores, the effect is likely to be similarly weak. As a make up base or MakeUp replacement of primer may well be used, because it makes the skin by the silicones very soft and matt it in a natural, velvety way, so that you can distribute the makeup well it or just also unflattering least not shine and looks a little velvety. But what the manufacturer promises will actually only completely fulfilled on the edge. The compatibility of the primer is excellent though. I could not detect any negative reactions of my skin; she was not even dry thereby. Overall, the product is not really worth the money, but has no bad qualities, but is weakening only slightly in what it can should.
This is more of a primer than a pore minimizer I'd say.
This should help to make your skin look smoother and quite possibly reduce the look of blemishes throughout the day with its VITAMIN formula.
The plus side to this product is that my skin is sensitive and can't deal with some brands, but this range is quite good for skin that needs extra TLC.
This felt lovely and light on the skin, it applied well and I only waited a few minutes until I was able to apply foundation. Unlike the BALM in this range called 'DR FEELGOOD', this was a lot better in the fact that it helped control the shine of the light oily skin I get on my forehead.
This did not clog up my skin like the balm and my foundation actually stayed on all day and also did not appear greasy throughout the day.
My skin felt fresher than with the BALM version and I was more happy about using this.
The only reason I didn't go back to purchase more was because I didn't feel confident with this paritcualr brand and I don't think it improved the texture of my skin by making in look smoother as I didn't notice that difference at all. As for fine lines, I can't review that aspect on this product.
This retails at BENEFIT for £24.50, obviously you can get this cheaper elsewhere but I think you can also get better for a lot less than this brand.
I always thought that I wouldn't ever pay all the money out for a benefit product, however in the past few months I think I've started to change my mind. I don't like spending too much money on something that's really quite small compared to other products - but this one I am pleased I spent the money on in all honesty!
I've always had large pores on my face, so when I saw this as a freebie in a magazine about a year ago - I knew it would be a nice trial before spending all that money, and I fell in love with it really quickly.
This balm is good for minimising the fine lines and pores on your face, it works somehow like you've got some filler on your face to smooth all that out - don't know how it works but I know it does. Now I always use this under foundation to give me a nice smooth base to start with.
It's a really soft balm to apply on your face you don't need a massive amount it just needs to be smoothed over the troublesome areas and you've got great coverage. When you squeeze the tube it comes out a nude colour but soon turns transparent on the skin, it's a great way to keep your make-up in place and keep your skin looking smooth all day!
A tube will last me around two months if I'm lucky and all though it is £24.50 a tube for how it makes my skin look and feel I won't begrudge paying that amount of money!
The Porefessional is a primer from Benefit. It costs £24.50 per 22ml tube, so it isn't cheap. However it is a high end premium primer from a prestigious brand. Is it any good though? Yes, it is. The primer is a nude colour and it has a nice scent to it. It spreads well onto the face and leaves your skin feeling silky soft and smooth to the touch. I couldn't believe how smooth my skin felt when I first used this primer. My skin had literally NEVER felt so smooth before, it was certainly a nice experience. I've been using 7.5ml sample tubes of this product that have been given away with magazines. Then I was given a Benefit gift set for Christmas with the full sized 22ml tube inside, yay! The primer is suitable for all skin tones and types. It contains Vitamin E and is said to minimise the appearance of pores.
You can use the primer in a number of different ways. You can use it under make up, before applying foundation. Using the primer in this way primes your skin for make up application, helping your foundation adhere to your skin. The primer does provide a nice smooth base for make up and it definitely makes my pores appear smaller. It also helps with shine. I have oily skin that tends to shine around midday, especially in my T Zone area. The primer helps to control the excess sebum and keep oil at bay for a number of hours. My make up doesn't slide off and my skin feels soft for the rest of the day.
To save some precious time in the morning you can mix a little primer with your moisturiser and/ or foundation and apply the mixture directly to the face. The primer mixes well, doesn't cake, and the nude colour blends well into any skin tone. You can even mix all three together (primer, moisturiser and foundation) if you're feeling incredibly lazy. Yes, I've done this before and it works! You can also use the primer on bare skin, although I don't use it this way very often, only on "no make up days"...
A little goes a long way so my 7.5ml tubes lasted me for a good while. I do think £24.50 is a little pricey though so I'm keeping a look out for the sample tubes again!
Oh, I forgot to mention that the retro packaging is really cool!
I recently received a free trial of this primer caller Porefessional from Benefit and was interested in giving it a go. I don't normally use primers as I find that by the time I have used my moisturiser, BB cream and foundation I have too much on my skin but I was interested to see if it would really make my skin look any better and my make up last for longer.
The primer comes in a small plastic tube with a blue design and the picture of a woman on the front. It has the usual retro design that Benefit uses for its products which makes it look fun and interesting.
On squeezing the primer out of the tube it is a light pale skin coloured liquid. This was fine for me as I have quite pale skin but I don't know how it would look on darker complexions.
To use the product you smooth it over your face before applying your make up. I found that it smoothed over my face well and I liked the texture which did not feel heavy at all. It seemed to give my skin a mask like feel so there was a consistent base to apply my make up to.
The primer is meant to reduce pores but as I don't really suffer with large pores I did not notice any difference with this.
I did find that the primer made it easier to apply my make up and was a good base for this. However I did not really notice that my make up lasted longer throughout the day.
Overall I would not use this primer again as it is very expensive to buy. However I was pleased to get a free sample and see what it was like.
While I was pregnant with my son four years ago my skin really suffered, terrible morning sickness and not being able to eat a balanced diet played havoc with all aspects of my skin - most of the issues sorted themselves out once baby was born but a longer lasting problem has been the enlarged pores which developed during the pregnancy and have never really reduced again.
I first tried Benefit's PoreFessional when it was given away on a magazine cover, I liked it but baulked at the price tag for the larger size (mine was a 7.5ml tube) as although it worked pretty well I didn't think the results were long lasting enough to warrant spending £24 on a tiny 22ml tube - luckily I've received a couple more of the small sizes since then so haven't had to make the decision over whether to purchase or not but since trying other (cheaper) primers I really don't think this one is worth the cost.
It feels wonderful to use; PoreFessional is silky soft and applies like the finest talcum powder in the world - it's obviously a cream but has the effect of changing to a kind of powdery feeling as soon as it touches my skin. Foundation can be applied over the top immediately as it leaves absolutely no dampness or residue on my skin.
My enlarged pores are mainly at the side of my nose and on the apples of my cheeks, they're small enough to be hideable with make-up but are still visible - amazingly PoreFessional completely shrinks them down to their normal size which I'm super impressed with, the problem being that the effects last for only a couple of hours and then I either have to reapply the PoreFessional or leave my pores to be their enlarged size.
It's a shame it's not longer lasting as I'd certainly buy the proper size tube if I could guarantee I'd get at least a few hours out of it - sadly, other than the initial burst of pore reducing, it doesn't really impress me any more than any decent primer.
Benefit The Porefessional is designed to quickly minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines for smoother than smooth skin. It's priced at £24.50 for a 22ml tube .
I do like the look of the packaging, it's quite funky as with most of Benefit's products. However, it would be massively improved by having a flip top lid, I just don't understand why any company uses screw top lids on this kind of product when flip tops are so much more convenient for the user!
It's quite a thick textured gel type primer with a silky smooth feeling to it, and I must admit it feels amazing. It's definitely the nicest feeling out of all the primers I've tried. It's so easy to apply because it just glides onto the skin so effortlessly.
When I've used this it instantly takes the shine away from my skin, and for me that's my number one priority in a primer because I do suffer terribly with an oily t-zone. It's a colourless primer so you don't need to worry about blending, just smooth it on and leave it.
I do think it minimises my pores quite well, it doesn't get rid of them completely but it definitely makes them less noticeable. It also helps my makeup go on smoother and gives a more even finish.
The main issue I have with this primer, just as with most others, it that the effect just doesn't last long enough. My skin is looking shiny again within a couple of hours, and my pores start to become more noticeable again, which if I'm wearing foundation just creates an awful look when it suddenly starts sinking into my pores.
The other issue I have is that when I've used this as a base, my makeup rubs off too easily, like it's stopping it from adhering to the skin so it just comes off as soon as I touch it.
No, I wouldn't recommend this primer. Not because it's terrible, but simply because it's exactly the same as others that are much less expensive.
This primer is amazing.. I have tried so many priming products high end to high street and have never found one I liked as much as this. Although this product is a little pricey I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a primer that not only minimises the look of pores but can be used as a finishing lotion giving skin a soft glow. My skin can be dry at times, as well as oily in some areas and this primer seems to do its job perfectly in all areas. I use this everyday and is certainly a product I will continue to purchase. As explained on the box this primer can be used blotted on to the skin as a primer or over foundation to smooth it out and I find this also gives a lovely smooth finish to my skin. I would not say that this product hides pores completely but it defiantly aids in minimising their appearance. As usual with Benefit products a little bit of this goes a long way, even when using it as a primer and as a finish. For anyone who is new to benefit or looking to try their products, they do boxes containing smaller versions of products for an amazing price, giving you the opportunity to try many products for often what you might pay for one full sized product. I would also say a top tip would be to buy Benefit products through shops who do offers regularly such as 10% off! and to sign up to benefit online as they often have great offers running!
I am a big fan of Benefit products, and while slightly more expensive than some brands, the products generally do what they claim to do. The Benefit brand was first created in 1976 by twins Jane and Jean Ford in San Francisco. Their first products were actually designed for exotic dancers, but their 'fake it til you make it' attitude and products soon made them a worldwide success.
The POREfessional is a primer. Primers create the perfect base for make up, evens out skin tone, smoothifine lines and giving an even surface for make up to adhere to This primer works by 'blurring' the look of pores and fine lines, it doesn't hide them completely, but it does help even things out on your face. This primer is oil free and suitable for all skin types. It also contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.
The packaging on this primer is the typical quirky Benefit style packaging and is a mint green and cream tube, with a cartoony picture of a woman on it. The primer itself is a pale beige colour and feels very light to the touch.
It is recommended that you apply the POREfessional from the center of the face outward by patting lightly with fingertips., paying particularly attention to the T-zone area. You can use this product before you apply your makeup, mix it with your foundation or apply on top of your makeup. I normally use it as a base for my foundation, on top of moisturised skin, as it means that my foundation doesn't sit in the pores around my nose and chin. You can also use this to touch up on any shiny spots throughout the day, although I have found that now that I am using a long wearing foundation, I don't have to do this anymore.
I love the feel of this product on my skin. The silicone in this primer leaves my skin feeling silky soft and even on its own gives my skin a bit of a boost. A little goes a long way, so a tube should last a while, and I usually find that a pea sized amount is enough for my face.
A full size tube of this is £24.50 but I often see the trial sizes on ebay relatively cheaply. A tiny amount is all I need to cover all my face, so the full size lasts me for about 9 months. Once opened, this product should be used within 12 months. I would definitely recommend this primer, but would recommend buying a small trail version on ebay first before forking out the full price for this.
I was lucky enough to receive a sample of this primer free in a magazine and I've been hooked ever since! I'm always on the hunt for products that will help my make-up stay on longer and also help my skin.
Benefit is a high-end brand available in all department stores and some Boots stores. It also available online and on QVC.
* Quickly minimise the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.
I wouldn't be without this primer now, my skin is oily and therefore I find without the use of it my make-up disappears as the day goes on. The texture of the cream is very lightweight and silky, my skin feels smooth and I have a nice even base for my foundation. Another great thing about this primer is it's oil-free which helps with oily skin. I have fairly large pores on my cheeks and while it didn't mask them completely it definitely minimised them. A life saver! This product has won various awards in the beauty industry and in my opinion deserves every one! It is also the best selling primer in the UK! I think that says it all!
HOW TO APPLY:
Apply the POREfessional from the center of the face outward by patting lightly with fingertips...pay particular attention to the T-zone area. Keep it in your bag for touch-ups during the day.
I love the Benefit packaging! It's always very colourful and the names are quirky, very eye-catching. Porefessional comes in a turquoise coloured tube with a black lid. The product has a screw top with a small hole for the product to come out of, this helps you control the amount that comes out so you won't waste any.
VALUE FOR MONEY:
This product isn't cheap it costs £24.50 but you only need a tiny amount so it lasts a very long time and considering the quality of the product I think it's worth every penny! I will definitely be repurchasing this.
Pores are one of the things you never really think much about until you try a product that masks it.
I love Benefit products and this is one of my favourites. It is isn't greasy, mattifys the skin and provides a smoothing base for foundation. I also does a great job of making pores less visible, and I certainly see a difference to the look of my foundation when I've applied it.
One disappointment is in the tube itself and how its dispensed. It comes out in a tiny amount. You don't need much of the product, but it is quite annoyingly restrictive in how much you can get out at a time, and it would benefit from a different applicator.
Overall a very good product, but for the price, it is probably something I could live without to be honest.
One tip if you are going to buy the product online. There is a huge amount of fakes on Ebay. I mean huge. I ordered it twice in a row to find they were fakes. The product may look the same on the outside but the product is completely different and utterly useless. So if you want to buy it, make sure you get it from Benefit directly, or an official supplier. You will be wasting more money than it takes to buy a proper tube of the stuff.
WHAT IS IT?
The Porefessional is what you would call a primer for use under make up. It is to shrink the pores on your face and will help keep your make up in place for longer also.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
You apply a small amount to your skin and use your finger pads to massage it across your skin. It feels very soft to apply and dries instant to a soft powder finish that you cannot see but can feel on your skin for a few minutes.
DOES IT WORK?
I have only a small problem with large pores and I think this product works very well on my skin. It shrinks the pores right down and keeps them small for all of the day. I suggested to my client that she should try it and I was glad I had a sample to give to her because it did not work on her very enlarged pores and I would have been embarrassed if she had spent her money on it.
WHAT I THINK
I like to apply The Porefessional because it does work how it should and I feel confident with it under my make up. I do not use it every day because it makes my skin feel very dry sometimes but if I am going out I apply some always because I think it makes a difference and I do feel like it helps my foundation to last for a bit longer.
It has got a small powdery smell but that is not very strong and I can not smell it as soon as I have applied it.
My pores look smaller for the whole day when I apply this in the morning but the next day they are the same so it is not a repair treatment and will work in the short term only. If you have got larger pores it might not be so effective so I would recommend for you to sample it before you buy a full size product.
A tube holds only 22ml of Porefessional and costs £25. It lasts for long because you only have to use a small amount every time so I think it is good value even though it is expensive.
4 Dooyoo Stars.
I must admit that although it's expensive, I love Benefit make up and find a lot of their range achieves good results so when I went for a 'pick me up' makeover at their counter I was open to suggestions as to what I might buy that day. When the 'benebabe' applied my make up she mixed the POREfessional in with some light foundation and I had to agree it gave a fabulous finish.
What is it?
The POREfessional is a primer designed to hide flaws and is very versatile as it can be used under or over make up or even mixed in with the foundation! It is very light so it's not like you are trowelling on another layer either. I expected it to be clear but it is actually a light beige colour that certainly suits my skin well and as it is only available in one colour I can only assume it sort of adapts to most skin tones accordingly.
I do usually use this mixed in with a foundation, as it helps to prime but then also makes the foundation go a lot further so it's practically a budget buy (ahem! More on the price later) but I have used it over moisturiser just to give my face a bit of colour when I am not planning to wear any make up. It seems to even out my skin tone, particularly redness around the nose area and any pores that are visible are less noticeable. On the box it also recommends using this product to hide wrinkles but I don't really have any of those yet luckily.
I love the silky softness of this product and only need to use a teeny amount each day so it really goes a long way. I have found that when I use this I don't need to use concealer as well as it attends to the areas I wish to conceal (unless it's a specific spot I was covering up). To say that the title of this product is a little vague, it's one of those miracle multi tasking make up items that I wouldn't be without in my make up bag now. It makes my skin feel so soft and silky I love wearing this product and find it doesn't need to be restricted to the pore area on the nose (and that's why I mix it with foundation).
Here comes the bad news... a 22ml tube costs £23.50 at Debenhams and it seems this is a consistent price you can expect to pay in stores.
I really love this product and will continue to buy it as I feel it makes my skin have that softened look and it fuzzes out any redness or reduces the pigment spots I have on my face in a couple of places. It mixes in well with foundation so doesn't add any more time to the getting ready routine and the tube I have been using for months now is still going strong so not a regular big spend thankfully. I am happy to recommend the POREfessional from Benefit and would advise trying it at the Benefit counter to see if you like it too.
I really love the brand Benefit and think their cosmetics are generally pretty good, so I was excited to try this product when I was on the lookout for a new primer. The Porefessional makes some strong claims, it aims to minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines and wrinkles, help makeup last longer on the skin and also contains vitamin E which is supposed to protect the skin from free radicals.
The is a nude colour cream which applies to the skin beautifully, it glides on and makes my skin feel super soft and smooth. It does appear to minimise pores, although I can't comment on the wrinkles aspect as I haven't developed any yet at 23! The cream provides a great smooth base for foundation, it makes it apply evenly and I would agree with their claim that it gets the makeup to last longer, my foundation last for the majority of the day when I combine it with this primer.
As this cream has a nude colour to it, I am not sure how well suited it would be to darker skintones, I have fairly pale skin and it seems to blend with my skin despite not matching perfectly, but I am unsure whether it is made to blend to any skintone or not, it would definitely be worth trying this out at a Benefit counter before committing to purchase this product as it does retail for £23.50 which is a hefty price tag, although you only need a tiny amount so a tube will last a few months in my experience.
If you are searching for a good primer I would recommend giving this a try.
