      • "Nice Gloss"

A Good Lip Gloss From Benefit

This is another of the products that I got in a Benefit gift set that I got for my birthday a couple of months ago. I am a big fan of Benefit make up and I love all the quirky products that they sell. I don't generally wear a lot of lip gloss because I tend to prefer wearing lip balm when I don't have to wear make up for work. However I do make an exception for this one because it is quite good.

This is a really nice lip gloss that is apparently a shimmering pinky nude colour. It is just the perfect gloss for having that nude look but still having a bit of glamour to it. The shimmer in it is visible but subtle and gives you lips a little bit of sparkle that is not too much for daytime use but that would look good over a bold coloured lipstick in the evening.

The tube that I got in my set is 6.5 ml, which is just over a third of the size of a full sized tube but it does last quite a while I find because you don't need that much of it. So if you get a full sized one I think it will last a good while, making it pretty decent value for money.

It is a nice thick gloss so you can tell straight away that it makes your lips feel smooth and moist. The hole in the top of the tube is tiny, which makes it really easy to regulate how much of it comes out at once. I find that it looks really good when you use it over the top of the Benetint lip stain and that using it like this also seems to make it stay on my lips better. The two products complement each other really well because the Benetint gives the gloss the staying power and the gloss moisturises your lips when the stain has dried them up a bit.

The gloss is available directly from the Benefit website for just under fifteen pounds, although you will need to pay postage on this if you don't order over a certain amount. You can get it in places like Debenhams for the same price. I would recommend it because it is a nice lip gloss and is fairly good value for money.

A lovely subtle lip gloss which makes the lips look pretty but that doesn't hang around

I don't really like to wear lipstick as I feel self conscience and I don't think it really suits me. I do feel that my lips look to pale and boring if I leave them looking natural so I like to wear a lip gloss. I like nearly all of the products that Benefit have released over the years and so I thought I would give one of the Ultra Plush lip glosses a go.

      What does the product do?
The product is essentially a lip gloss which promises to give the lips a splash of colour and a beautiful and eye catching shiny finish. The product promises an easy and precise application, coating the lips leaving them feeling silky and luxurious. The glosses have been designed to match up with the bronzers and blushers which are also available from Benefit.

The product comes in six different shades. I chose Dallas which is a dusky pink shade. You can also chose from Dandelion which is a soft pearly pink and Hoola which is a shimmering gold nude. Also available is Bella Bamba which is a sheer watermelon colour and Coralista which is obviously a coral shade. Finally there is Dandelion which is a soft pearly pink shade.

      Packaging and Price
The lip glosses are packaged in a way which matches their matching bronzer/blusher. My Dallas lip gloss is contained within a dusty dark pink tube. One the front is the shadow of a horse and the Dallas is written in yellow across the front. It has a silver screw top lid which has a metallic finish. The applicator is also plastic and is slanted to allow a more precise application. In the middle is a little hole and you gently squeeze the tube in order to dispense some of the product. It will cost you around £13 to buy each of these lips glosses. They can be bought from department stores with a Benefit counter and also from a range of online websites.

      Application and Performance
The product is easy to apply to the lips thanks to the slanted applicator. The product has a subtle fruity aroma which makes the product even more pleasant to use. The gloss has quite a thick consistency but you don't need to squeeze the tube too hard in order to release the product. You obviously can't return the excess to the tube and you don't want to waste a product which costs this much. Despite it's fairly thick consistency, the gloss glides over the lips without pulling or dragging the delicate skin.

It had a silky and rich texture which feels nice and comfortable on the lips. It didn't irritate or cause my skin any discomfort. The lip gloss actually has a subtle fruity taste to it and while you aren't supposed to lick it off, it does make using the product more enjoyable. The product appears quite a dark and dusky pink in the tube but this doesn't actually translate to the lips. It isn't a highly pigmented product but it does add a touch of colour to the lips which is the type of product that I prefer.

It has a lovely glossy finish which makes the lips shiny and attractive. The finish isn't too sticky but you have to expect some stickiness with a gloss. The staying power of this one is not too good. It hangs around for a few hours but if you're eating or drinking then this will be even less. It is easy enough to reapply the gloss on the go but it's still not a good thing when you consider the price.

All in all, this adds a touch of colour to the lips and has a silky and glossy finish. It makes the lips look pretty, tastes and smells nice, and it is easy to apply. It doesn't much staying power and you will need to reapply the gloss within a few hours. I will happily continue to use the product but I'm not sure whether I would purchase another one at full price.
