Benefit High Beam
by jjrose
Benefit is the brand I've been recently introduced to. I won't say that I am very dextrous with make up; most of the time I am contended with just basic foundation, blusher and a bit of eye make up. However, whilst I was browsing youtube videos and I saw a video on make up tutorial. In that video, the girl was giving instructions on how ... to use highlighters and I thought it would be interesting to try it out for myself.
I saw this Benefit High Beam on amazon and I bought it for around £18.00. I must admit that for a simple highlighter, it certainly is quite expensive. The bottle of High Beam looks very much like a nail polish bottle. For £18.00 a bottle, I get 13 ml of High Beam liquid. The applicator is just like a nail polish brush and very easy to apply.
From my experience, I absolutely love using this Benefit High Beam product. I only ever use this product on top of my make up and blush to finish the look. The High Beam liquid quite concentrated and you only need to used tiny drops on the area you want to highlight. My routine is to use 2-3 drops along the ridge of my nose, a few drops on my cheek bones and a drop on top of my eye brows. Then, I use my foundation brush to blend it in with my background foundation. It instantly illuminates the area and brightens up my complexion.
What I love about this Benefit High Beam liquid is that it doesn't leave too much glitter. The shine of the highlighter itself is more of a calm shine than a sharp glitter, which makes it alright for everyday wear as well as for night outs. Also, since it is quite concentrated, I only need to use tiny amounts each time for maximum effect. The good thing is it lasts for a long time. I have bought my bottle of High Beam a year ago and I have more than half left, bear that in mind that I use this product quite frequently.
However, I do notice that if I apply too much in one spot, it does have a slight tingly/ hot sensation on the area. So, I try not to put too much on the same area on my face. The smell of it is quite alright but is very mild.
Overall, this Benefit High Beam product is not an essential but it does have quite an impact for something so small. For me, this product is something I would miss after trying it out. My bottle would last for at least another year I reckon but I would buy this again.
Thank you for reading and reviewing. :) x Read the complete review |

Benefit High Beam
by dkm1981
I love Benefit products and have a fair old collection of them - not bad for someone who only really wears make up for work. One of the things in my collection is the High Beam, which I got for my birthday last year from my very kind sister in law. I have actually had the High Beam in one of the little make up palette I had previously ... bought and I liked it so much that I wanted the full sized product.
I get pretty dark circles around my eyes and I am always look for things that will cover them or take focus away from them and this product does because it highlights the area around my eyes and takes focus away from the dark circles, which I absolutely love.
High Beam is, as the name suggests, a highlighter cream that gives definition and glow to your skin. It comes in a clear 13ml glass bottle with a white lid. It looks a bit like a bottle of nail varnish both outside and inside, because the lid is the same as a nail varnish bottle in that it has a brush attached to the inside. This is really good because it makes it very easy to use. You just dab the brush onto the areas you want to apply it to and then gently rub it in.
I use it along my brow and cheek bone. It amuses my husband when I apply it because he says it looks like glitter spots on my face before I rub it in. Even so, it doesn't look glittery when you rub it in which is good because I don't like to look glittery. Instead it gives a sort of pearlescent glow to my bones. I think it is really lovely because it lightens the skin around my eyes, without drawing too much attention to it.
You can apply in to clean skin or put it over the top of makeup. I was a bit worried about putting over my make up because I thought it might rub it off and leave trails, but that isn't the case at all. It blends in really well with make up so that it looks like it is part of it. In the bottle it is a pale pink colour and that is what it comes out like, but when you blend it in, it doesn't look very pink - it just does what it is supposed to and highlights the area you apply it too. I only put a little bit on because I don't want it too stand out too much, but you can put more on to get stronger results obviously.
Like I said, you only need to use a tiny little bit of it so, even though it is a pretty small bottle, it does last ages. I got my bottle for my birthday in March last year and I have still only used about a quarter of it. That means that the price isn't perhaps so eye watering as you originally think. It is available in places like Boots and Debenhams for about £19.50 per bottle. It is a lot of money, but it does last absolutely ages, so it is pretty good value for money.
I would recommend it. It is certainly a luxury product rather than being an essential, but it is very good at what it does and I really like it. If you want some - it makes a great gift if you have a generous family member or friend! Read the complete review |

Benefit Some Kinda Gorgeous Foundation Faker
by haybel19
I absolutely love Benefit products after being introduced them some years ago. One of the first products I bought after a make up trial was the Some Kinda Gorgeous foundation as I was so impressed with both the easy application and coverage- which left me fresh faced and flawless.
Some Kinda Gorgeous is a cream to powder ... foundation applied with either the sponge supplied in the base or with fingers. It costs £24.50 and is available in three shades- I use the light.
I apply Some Kinda Gorgeous, over You Rebel Lite using the sponge application and you only need a small amount. Some Kinda Gorgeous also gives a beautiful finish without the use of You Rebel. It is very easy to apply, gives great coverage and lasts really well. I find this gives me much better coverage than the Hello Oxygen Flawless Wow.
I tend to pop it in my Some Kinda Gorgeous in my handbag, in case of touch ups and the compact mirror in the lid is really useful. The packaging is really stylish and unique- mimicking a record.
This is my absolute favourite foundation and I honestly think its worth the price tag both in terms of the finish it gives and how well it lasts. I find the light really suits my skin tone and makes my skin radiant.
I highly recommend. Read the complete review |
