Advantages: Does keep lips nice and soft
Disadvantages: Too much product comes out when you squeeze the tube
This is a reveiw of Blistex Relief Cream - formerly Blisteze.
***what the tube says***
The tube says medicated cream for quick relief of occasional cold sores, cracked chapped and sore lips.
***why I bought it***
I purchased a tube of this as I used to work with a girl who was always applying it and I thought if she thought it was that good, I wanted in too!
I usually use the aloe vera vaseline and am quite happy with it but do like to try other products in case I'm missing out.
***looks like a mini toothpaste tube ***
The product comes in a tiny metal tube with a plastic screw on lid (think old fashioned toothpaste tube but in miniature and you're on the right lines!).
The tube I currently have is 5g but I've had it for quite a while and think they have changed the packaging slightly since if the picture is accurate.
***Worms on your lips ****
On first opening - BEWARE - a small squeeze produces far too much of this product which escapes the tube in a small 'worm' and you can't get it to go back in again once it's out. I find it easier to squeeze a little on to my finger then alpply to my lips in a rubbing motion.
You will find as you try and recap the product, more 'worms' are escaping - it's quite comical really.
***That sinking feeling***
The product has a minty feel to it and leaves your lips tingling slightly.
It's a bit greasy but in a good way and you really feel like it's sinking in. It feels quite medicated but I think that's due to the smell and packaging.
*** the verdict ***
To be honest, I don't know what my work colleague was so obsessed with. It costs a lot more (I think I paid about £2.50) than vaseline but I must admit despite the way the product escapes the tube, it does last a long time. It's OK but I wouldn't rush out to buy it.
Summary: Good for chapped lips in winter.
