Blistex Lip Relief Cream
Advantages: does exactly what it's supposed to
I suffer with quite dry lips, especially in the colder weather and I usually use vaseline to keep my lips in shape, but if I have a cold or sometimes when my allergies cause my lips to become very sore I need something a little more than vaseline. During such times I use Blistex to offer relief and help heal my lips.
Blistex reflief cream is a medicated lip cream designed to soothe chapped and dry lips and to help with cold sores.
*********Price and availability*********
Blistex is easily found in most chemists and super markets. I last bought mine in Superdrug for £2.25 for a small 5g tube.
I think the price I paid is a good one, it is a little more expensive than the lip balms I usually use but it is a medicated product that gives better results than an ordinary lip balm and has the added extra of being good for cold sores.
The lip cream comes in a small screw topped tube of blue white and red and it is packaged inside a small piece of plastic mounted onto a piece of card. The packaging seems to have been updated recently, I remembered it being in a blue and white box with a picture of lips, but when I bought it more recently it came with a purple cardboard backing with a large red circle with the words blistex in it.
The packaging is reasonably eye catching, but I wouldn't buy the product for this reason alone
*********Using the cream*********
The cream is a pale yellowy colour which does not look particularly attractive when you squeeze it out of the tube, but the product is colourless when on your lips. There is a slight smell to the cream, a little menthol and kind of how you expect a hospital to smell but it is so slight that it does not bother me.
The texture is thick and creamy.
When using the cream a small blob is sufficient to cover you lips.
It does not tingle or sting on dry lips, but when my lips have been very cracked and sore I do get a slight tingling when applying the cream but it settles down quickly.
The cream glides easily onto your lips and it is very simple to get a nice even coverage.
I find that I need to reapply the product throughout the day around every 3 hours or more, or sometimes after eating or drinking I need to use it again.
The cream is small enough to fit into a pocket or bag so that you can keep it handy. It does not seem to be affected by body heat if you keep it in your pocket all day.
I find that this cream instantly soothes my lips and I typically only need to use it for a day to cure seriously dry lips. I'm very happy with the results of this product and have not found another one on the market that does the job as well as Blistex does.
I have not used this cream for cold sores, but it was recommended to me by a friend who did use it for this purpose and found it effective.
*********Would I recommend this?*********
I would recommend Blistex relief cream to others as it really does offer fantastic relief for sore lips
Summary: A great relief for dry or sore lips
