Advantages: My lips feel smooth, The spots disappeared, Easy to buy and carry around
Disadvantages: A bit expensive but well worth it
Now we have moved house to Llandudno my parents are living with us - yes I know, we must be mad! They have the ground floor of our house and Dave and I have the other two floors. This way we can be relatively self contained but it means that I am on hand to help them whenever they need me. Dad has Alzheimer's disease and mom has the memory span of a goldfish, bless her! (But don't tell her I said so!) She tends to ask me the same question over and over again and I try to be patient and answer afresh each time, although sometimes I fail miserably! Anyway that sets the scene for you - now add to all this the fact that their kitchen is being completely refitted, their lounge is having a new fireplace and the new wallpaper has to come off and the room repapered because of a fault, then the carpet has to be fitted and we are currently waiting for delivery of their new bedroom furniture which will be flat packed and we have a joiner ready to come and put it all together for us. So now you might have some idea why my stress levels are going through the roof. It's a good job we have put a hold on our work, I don't think I could handle any more organisation at the moment. I had noticed over the past few weeks that I was getting sores on the inside of my mouth which I put down to the increased stress and just waited until they disappeared. Then last week I developed to sores on my lips. They weren't cold sores, but more like nasty spots that just happened to be on my lips. So, off I went to Boots to see what they'd got to ease the problem. I chose a tube of Blistex, formerly called Blisteze (why they keep changing product names like this is beyond me), which cost me about £2.50 for a little metal tube containing 5g of cream. At around 50p per gram it had better be good! I always use lip saver of one sort or another all year round, as I hate to have my lips feeling dry, so I was
pretty sure that I would feel comfortable using this product. I only needed a tiny pinprick of an amount to coat each of my lips. It tasted of peppermint, which I am not usually too keen on, but it wasn't too strong and seemed to be right for this product somehow. My lips felt as thought they had been slightly anaesthetised (thank heavens for a spell checker!) and they felt smooth and creamy without being greasy. The instructions said to apply this cream once an hour; I suppose because it's on your lips it tends to come off quite easily as you eat and drink, or just as you lick your lips. The main thing that I want to convey in this opinion is that it worked a treat! I used it about every three hours or so during the day and again just before I went to sleep at night and the sores began to heal straight away. Within a couple of days they had disappeared completely! Blistex is found in most supermarkets and obviously all good chemists in a sweet little blue and white box about 10cm long, which incidentally means it's easy to carry about in your handbag. So there you are then for dry chapped lips, cold sores or just for a zit on your lip - Blistex is the miracle you?re looking for.
