Bobbi Brown Blush
Advantages: price, good quality, looks great
Disadvantages: not one!
On my visit to London in 2011 I decided I wanted some new make-up on my visit to John Lewis. I had used only used one or two of Bobbi brown cosmetic products before but since had heard many make-up bloggers, reviewers mention how great Bobbi brown products are. They completely raved about them. So I decided I'd go to the counter and ask for a little make over and try out their foundation and blusher.
The lady removed my make-up and applied the vitamin make-up base (loved this product) and then applied a foundation stick, something I had never used before and then the Bobbi Brown bliusher. I purchased all three products as I loved the way they worked together. The blusher was my favorite product of them all. It really stood out but in a good way. It defined my cheek bones and gave me a nice splash of colour.
The blusher the make-up artist used was 'Desert rose' this is described on the Bobbi brown site as a 'muted pinky brown' which I think is a good description as it does have tones of pinks and browns.
The other shades available are: Apricot, Almond, Blushed, Brown berry, Cranberry, Desert pink, Desert rose, Nectar, Nude peach, Nude pink, Pale pink, Peony,Pretty pink, Plum, Sand pink, Slopes and Tawny. The Bobbi Brown blusher is available in many department stores including Debenhams and as mentioned before John lewis. As well as online.
The Bobbi Brown blusher gives a matte finish, which I prefer as I do tend to get quite shiny through the day as my skin although it is very dry, it does tend to get shiny through the day. So a matte finish is my preference. It is very long lasting and lasts the whole of the day without needing to top up at lunch.
Bobbi Brown recommends applying the product on the apples of cheeks using a blusher brush, blending up into the hairline, then downwards to soften. Finish with a pop of brighter blush, applied just on the apples of cheeks. For a shimmery glow on cheeks, follow with a Shimmer Brick. I don't use a shimmer brick as I don't have one but it would be nice to see how it looks with one. I think it could look quite nice with a shimmer on a night out.
The Bobbi Brown blusher is £16.20 for 3.7g. Now to the people who don't tend to buy from the 'luxery brands' it may seem a little steap. However, despite buying this blusher back in September 2011. I still have so much of the blusher left. In fact, I would say I have only used a ¼ of the product. Despite the fact I wear it every day and would say I wear a lot of make-up. Now it may be down to the colour as it does stand out in a nice way and this might mean I don't have to use a lot of the product. However, it is still good whatever the reason that it has lasted me so long. I do feel like I have well and truly got my moneys worth and still use the product every day.
The Bobbi brown packaging is fairly basic but not necessarily in a bad way. It comes in a small square shaped blusher. It doesn't include a mirror, which some people would prefer. However, because I carry my bronzer compact with me which has a mirror it isn't necessary and would just be carrying more weight around with me. The blusher has the famous 'Bobbi Brown' logo which is black and always looks so elegant. I really like the size of the blusher, it doesn't take up much room in my hang bag which is a real advantage as I carry a lot of make-up around with me. Typical woman!
I really love this blusher, it lasts a long time, it is nice and compact. It gives gorgeous results and a little goes a long way. I definitely will buy another when I run out, but saying that it will be a very long time as there is no sign of it running out yet!
Summary: lovely blusher
