Picture a person who is extremely pale, a redhead and has stacks of freckles...that person is me. After years of struggling to find a foundation that was light enough for my skin, I stumbled across Bobbi Brown. Thank god I did! I originally used the skin foundation but after the shade "alabaster" (the only one light enough for me) was discontinued, I moved on to the foundation stick. I have combination skin, with some oily and some dry patches but as long as I prepare and moisturise my skin well before I put this on, it goes on like a dream. I find the coverage with this foundation is more build-able than with the skin foundation. For someone that likes to hide their freckles, I can build this up and it still not look caked on. However, you can choose to have a light coverage for a more natural look! I also find it lasts a really long time, and can be applied with a brush or fingers. I love this product!
I bought this product after having my make up done by a professional at the Metro Centre however I have never really managed to get away with it which is a shame. I was offered a free make over in a department store when we went shopping and it was a Bobbi Brown set up which I had never actually heard of, I ended up coming away with this foundation stick although I don't actually wear foundation, a blusher which I never wear and a lipgloss, moral of the story is if you go to one of these set ups they could sell ice to the eskimos!
As I had a make over and I was buying a couple of items I was given this at the discounted price of £21 instead of the usual selling price of £26 which was a decent saving but a price I would never usually have considered paying and I think you would find much better foundations at much better prices on the high street.
The foundation stick comes in a black plastic tube which is very similar to a lip stick tube apart from it is bigger, the tube states on it that it is Bobbi Brown and then on the end you have a little sticker which tells you the colour you have, mine is Porcelain. The packaging is about 4 inches in length but when fully twisted out the actual foundation stick is only about 2 inches in length.
The packaging works just the same way as a lipstick in that you turn the bottom half of the tube and the foundation stick twists up although you shouldn't twist it to far up or it will snap. The foundation is easy to apply in the same way you would a concealer, the make up artist actually put it on my face and then used a sponge to blend it all in which I have found is the easiest way to use the product.
I feel that my skin is a little shiny with this on alone and so it has to be covered with a powder to dull it down a little, I find that this product lasts on my face all day long which is what you want and the make up artist got a really good match with my skin as when it is blended in you cannot actually tell I have it on however it doesn't cover over the bright red cheeks that I have been cursed with from my Father and I don't really like wearing a layer of concealer plus foundation plus powder as I feel my make up is then too thick so because of this I actually hardly ever use the product which is a shame after what I paid for it.
I would give this product 3 stars as it is expensive and I don't like the glossy finish it gives however it does last on your face so your don't have to constantly reapply and it is easy to apply.
I had been wanting to buy a bobbi brown foundation for a while because I had such a good colour match with the creamy concealer.Anyway decided to get the foundation stick because I had never tried a stick foundation before. I read a lot of reviews on this product and it seemed like it was buildable to a full coverage.
I was so excited when I got it because I thought finally might get a foundation to look nice on my skin.I was so wrong , its so greasy.
The colour match is brilliant , the best colour match in foundation ever.
When i first applied it I scrapped a small amount off with a spatula and
then applied with a foundation brush. It streaked horribly so i patted it with my fingers to get rid of the streaks and it blended easily.
however it looked as though I had just put some olive oil on my face the greasy look was that bad. It wasnt attached to my skin it was like it was floating on the surface and not covering anything. So i thought ok it might be that my moisturiser hasnt sinked in properly so i washed it off and started again. This time I applied with my fingers and no moisturiser. It was exactly the same.
I was determined to give the foundation a chance so i left it on my face for half hour so to give it time to dry. It doesnt dry at all , so i applied my usual powder and left it.By the time I had left my house to go get a bus and into my town it had melted down my face. Now I would have understood if it was on my t zone because I do get shiny there, but no this melted all over my face like it was dripping. I felt lucky that I had mineral foundation in my handbag to put on top of it .
I felt so horrible with my face looking like this that i went and bought another foundation the day this was delivered to me.

I used to use a fantastic foundation stick from Lancome Stick Express but it was recently discontinued much to my annoyance. I have tried since to find a good foundation either compact or stick formula to relace the fabulous Lancome product that was transfer resistant and a perfect colour for me. Anyway, I went along to the Bobbi Brown counter, they had a wide range of colours availabe in their Stick Foundation, I was asked if I needed assistance but declined any help as I have accepted assistance in the past at other counters and ended up with too orange or too pale shades, I have a better idea myself to the colour that suits me so after a bit of consideration I setteled on Natural 4, however when I applied it the next day I found it to be very yellow, it got a bit greasy as the day went on and I was not happy with the way it went on, it was a bit patchy and not easy to blend. At €40.00 it's a very expensive and not worth the money. I am still searching for a replacement for the Lancome Stick Express!!
This has to be the most convenient make-up product ever invented. I wouldn't leave home without it! At first it appears to be just like the old-fashioned Pan Stick which goes on so thick it appears to be bullet-proof. This couldn't be further from the truth from this fabulous, portable product. Bobbi Brown produced this on the same principle as her powder, all of the shades are yellow based, which give the skin a flattering warm glow. Having spent years looking for a foundation pale enough to match my whiter-than-white skin tone, I managed to locate one at the Bobbi Brown counter.I used the 'warm ivory' shade, which matches my skin perfectly. It comes in a twist-up container, a bit like a big lipstick, and can be applied directly to the skin. Or it can be used just where you want to use it, for example, around the eyes and on the t-zone, a bit like a big concealer stick! It is very long lasting and will stay put all day. It is suitable for all skin-types as it will not make oily skin more oily and is gentle enough to condition drier skins. I've found that this product lasts for 12 months. If it is used just for concealer purposes, I imagine it would last much longer. It is small and portable enough to be carried in your hand bag or your pocket, and the packaging is very hard wearing and durable. This foundation comes with me everywhere, and is so convenient and easy to use, you will be able to 'put your face on' in seconds!
Designed to be used as both concealer and a foundation / Sick and tired of your foundation fading away half way through the day and donÒt want to have to carry a bottle of the stuff around with you?
