Bobbi Brown eye gel

When I used eye liner I started of using eye pencils mainly because they were affordable & more choice. The disadvantage was when the crayon wore down the pencil had to be sharpened. This was messy because the sharpener would sharpen the wooden pencil & the crayon would get stuck in the sharpener, then I would be sticking my fingernails in the sides of the pencil sharpener to get the crayon out to start all over again.

When I eventually did get the crayon to a point where I was able to use this to line my eyes, it was only then I would feel a sharp piece of wood scratching my eye. I would eventually end up throwing these out & buying new eye pencils which I would only be able to use for a short time, because of the reasons above.

The only other alternative was the push up eye pencils, which you turn the base just like a lipstick & it pushes the colour up, so the only thing that goes on your eyes is the actual colour & not sharp pieces of wood. However, not a lot of brands are making their eye liners in this way.

It was one day I was in John Lewis walking past the Bobbi Brown counter & just browsing. I noticed the eyeliners were in little tiny pots & in many colours. Of course the assistant spotted me straight away & she explained that the gel lasts all day & that you would need an eye liner brush to put this on.

For health and safety reasons she was not able to put the eye liner on my eyes but tried a couple of colours of the back of my hand. I thought the black would be a bit too dark for me, so I went for Dark Brown.

That was three years ago and it is only now that I am now starting to see the bottom of the pot. I wear this every day and I can honestly say this is the best value eye liner I have ever bought. You can wear this any way you want, for wearing to work I usually just "join the dots". If you want to wear this like they did in the 60s you can top this up as heavy as you like. Sometimes I smudge this on my eyelid for a smokey effect. Best of all for me, because this is applied with an eye liner brush there is no risk of any sharp pieces of wood scratching your eye.

The great thing about this product is that if you make a mistake it can come of very easily without pulling or rubbing at your eyes for some time.

This cost me about £13 about three years ago and I use this every day. If I had still been using the wooden eye scratchers before I found Bobbi Brown, I would probably have spent a lot more than that. Bobbi Brown also sell an eye liner pencil which can be used with this eye liner, but an eye liner pencil from any brand can be used.

Since my first Bobbi Brown purchase I have also purchased the green eye liner gel from them which I sometimes use during the day.

On me the colour starts to smudge around the middle of they day, but my skin is quite oily so I'm used to having to touch up my make up at that time.

I would definitely recommend this and I will buy another one when this one runs out - my estimate is that this will last me to the end of this year or more.

A wee tip is try the colours on the back of your hand before you buy because this is a product that will last you years.
