Advantages: Great coverage and moisterising
Disadvantages: Price tag
I recently got stuck in a bit of a makeup rutt, I'd been buying the same brand of foundation over and over for a few years, and although it was a good quality brand, I just got a bit bored of the product and wasn't all that sure that it still suited my skin tone. I know it sounds daft but when I am shopping and nearly always accompanied my two little angels, aged 3 1/2 and 20 months and they do make shopping for new makeup a little tricky and not at all enjoyable so most of the time I just stick to what I know.
Anyway recently I got a whole day off and arranged a proper grownup child-free day's shopping with a friend. We were planning on really spoiling ourselves with some new clothes and a nice lunch....mmmmm bliss. I mentioned to my friend that I was after a new foundation and she suggested I try Bobbi Brown as she used their products and loved them and she also thought that they would really suit my skin tone.
She dragged me along to House of Fraser, who had a Bobbi Brown counter and I explained to the girl on the counter that I was after a new foundation. She asked my a few questions about my skin and then suggested I try the Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation as this would continue to moisterise my skin throughout the day and was also quite light on the skin. It also contained SPF 15 which was something else I was looking for.
She tried a few different shades before we settled upon one that we all agreed upon when I looked in the mirror, I was really happy with the way it appeared on my skin. I was happy with my choice and decided to purchase a bottle, however i did flinch a little at the heft £26 price tag for a 30ml bottle. Foundation is one of the product I am willing to spend a little more on though as I have tried cheaper brands and never got on with them all that well. I also don't wear foundation every day these days so a bottle does last me quite a long time. When I worked full time and wore make up every day I used to get through it quite quickly and I'm not sure I would have been prepared to splash out that much money on a bottle that would only last a couple of months.
Bobbi Brown get full marks from me for their packaging, it is all very classical and elegant and a bottle of this foundation looks rather gorgeous in your makeup bag. The foundation comes in a thick glass oval shaped bottle. There is no pump dispenser, you simply tip the bottle and let the foundation run onto your fingers or a brush. I have to say I would prefer a pump as I imagine it would be quite tricky to get the last bits out, and you really would want to waste any of this pricey stuff.
So is it worth it.....oooh yes definately in my mind! It's lovely stuff, it slides ontto your skin, and a little really does go a long way. It really does feel moisterising and I loved the finish, it transformed my skin, evened out my skin tone and still felt really light. I have been blown away by this product, it is the best foundation I have every used. I now really want to try some of the other Bobbi Brown products, the eye shadows look gorgeous
Summary: Luxury foundation
