Advantages: Cheap, good quality

Disadvantages: Not many I can think of

I have naturally pale skin even though I'm a brunette and without a little help from make-up I can look washed out, tired and even ill. I find using a little blusher on my cheeks and across the rest of my face "wakes" me up and makes me look more human, even more so after a late night or heavy night out!

Now I like to look good but not pay over the odds for it so I'm a big fan in general of Boots 17 range of make-up, a couple of months ago I decided to give their blush powder a try when I was struggling to find anything else that I could afford at the time and that wouldn't seem as it it would make me look like a clown or stripper.

I paid around £4 for a tub of this blusher which is the most really I'm prepared to pay, any more than that and I think you're just paying over the odds for marketing, packaging etc... I bought a shade called Nude which is what I'd call a brick colour, a reddish tan with a subtle hint of shimmer. The blusher doesn't come with an applicator but I was fine with that as I have a large blusher brush in my make bag already.

I always apply the rest of my make up before using blusher, preparing my skin with foundation and powder gives the blusher something to stick to and also makes it easier to sweep across my skin. Also having the rest of my face done lets me see how much blusher I actually need to apply, there's nothing worse than ending up looking like a clown or Paris Hilton because you overestimated the amount of colour your skin needed, this is the UK not Vegas!

The blush powder seems to be almost a cross between pressed and loose powder as it's packaged in a little compact but is quite loose in texture and comes away easily when disturbed by a brush. To use the blush just the slightest touch with a brush on the surface is enough to pick up enough colour, I tap the brush on the edge of the pot to ensure I haven't got too much on the bristles. I sweep the brush across my face and down my neck and it instantly brightens my skin up.

Because I only need a tiny amount each time I apply this blush it's lasting me a long time. I bought this a couple of months ago and I've barely scratched the surface of it. The pot has been bashed about a bit in my make up bag and therefore the inner pot is ratting around a little but that doesn't prevent me using it.

I'm really pleased with this product and would definitely buy it again, it would be nice to have a flip top lid instead of the screw top it currently has but at this price I can't really complain.

Summary: A good buy
