I've never been a girl who is into painting her nails, but recently I have decided its about time that I made an effort with things like that. Being summer (well, an English summer anyway!) I've been wearing sandals a lot and because of this, I've made an attempt to look after my feet, and this means painting my toe nails with some of the weird and wonderful colours out there... no boring old red and pink for me! I went straight to Boots and their 17 collection for my first few polishes because of the colours, and the latest addition to my collection is 17 Fast Finish in Peacock.

The nail polish comes in a small glass bottle with a matt black lid and brish, and simple black text on the front (the picture on Dooyoo is an older style bottle), and looks quite stylish. 17 products used to look quite young but now they look suitable for a woman or man of any age. The colour I have chosen is called Peacock and is an irridescent bluey-green colour which is gorgeous. You can see in the light that it changes colour, and almost glittery but only just which makes it a very pretty colour.

The Fast Finish nail polishes are supposed to be 1 coat polishes which dry in just 60 seconds. I have found with other polishes that I have used that I always need more than 1 coat to get the desired colour and finish, so I wondered how these would fare against those other brands. I began to paint the polish onto my toenails and the bright colour was exactly the same as in the bottle which made me very pleased. However, I noticed that because the colour was so strong, it did look streaky especially on the bigger nails which was a shame.

I carried on until all 10 nails were done, and they did look gorgeous I must say, very summery! I found that they didn't take long to dry at all, with them being touch dry at just over a minute after application so it definitely delivers on this side. However, I just wasn't satisfied enough with the colour and finish for 1 coat that I knew it would definitely need a second coat at least to make them perfect. I waited a while and then reapplied another coat, and this time I was far more happy with the result. The colour intensity was far better, the irridecence was more noticeable and wasn't at all streaky. So 2 coats and done, not bad. Again drying time was quick for 2 coats, so I think it fared quite well.

My main gripe with this polish is the consistency of it. I have found with another 17 brand that the polish was very liquidy and easy to spread with the brush which is important, especially for a second coat. However, this polish seemed almost a bit goopy and I needed a fair bit on the brush to move it around as it seemed very thick. I don't know if this is because of something in it to make it faster drying, but it was a pain on the second coat as it seemed resistent to be moved smoothly on the existing coat but I got there by just using more on the brush that normal.

Overall though, I am pleased with this nail polish. It cost me £2.85 for an 8ml bottle, and I think this is very reasonable for the quality of the product that I've got. I love the colour on my nails, it is very bold and striking, exactly what I wanted from a colour like this. It exactly represents the colour in the bottle which is great, and the colour is nice and shiny too, especially in the sunlight where the slight glitter effect looks very pretty. I will try more in this range, but I'll be more careful to put plenty of polish on the brush before I apply in the future! The drying time was very fast, but it didn't quite live up to the 1 coat claim, but I wasn't that bothered by that to be honest! Recommended.

The range of colours in the 17 Fast Finish range is excellent, with lots of shades perfect for the summer too. There are also lots of colours in the 17 High Gloss and 17 Lasting Fix range, so bear that in mind too when choosing.
