17 Fast Finish Nail Varnish
Advantages: cheap, go on well, look good on, variety of colours
I think it is fair to say I am nail polish obsessed. I have never counted my nail polishes because I know I would be disgusted with myself at the final amount! I do have my favourite brands, but I am willing to try any brand of nail polish if the colour is right. I own three 17 Fast Finish nail polishes - one of which I purchased, the other two were received as part of a gift set I got free when buying other 17 products.
The Boots website lists nineteen colours, although there may be more as of my three only one is listed. With so much choice you are bound to find something to your taste. They cater for those who like pale pastels, to those who prefer a stronger, brighter colour. The three I have are Knockout Red, Pink Grapefruit and Catwalk Couture (turquoise).
Boots who manufacture the product say that this will give your nails one coat of colour in 60 seconds. I have found that this is true as all of them go on really well with just the one coat and the colour looks strong with no gaps. I will admit however, that I do often add a second coat, just for longevity.
I paint this onto my nails in three strokes - one down each side and one in the middle. The polish gives great coverage and doesn't leave my nails with a streaky effect. The brush is wide, so application is, as promised, fast. I'd describe the polish as being quite thick, but it doesn't tend to drip.
I would not agree that this dries in sixty seconds. I'd say around five minutes is more accurate for it to become completely dry. A lot of the time I think it is fully dry only to smudge it, as it hasn't had a chance to harden. You can buy nail drying sprays which speed the process up and I do use these regularly with this brand of polish.
All of these polishes give a fantastic finish and are just as good as other, more expensive brands I have used. They dry to look very shiny and the finish looks professional.
The bottle advises that these colours should last for five days without chipping. To be honest I'd say 2-3 days would be a fairer estimate, especially if applying to the fingers. After this time I do find that it will begin to chip and look a bit rough around the edges. On toes I find they last longer - although this is always the case with nail polishes (for me at least). The pink colour I have is one I wear on my toes frequently and I find it can easily last for a week without chipping.
These 8ml nail varnishes retail at just £2.99 from Boots or www.boots.com but they are currently on special offer at just £1.99 making them even more of a bargain than usual.
If you are looking for a cheap and effective nail polish, that will (in most cases) only need one coat and give an even, streak free, professional looking finish, I'd suggest you can't go far wrong with these. Cheap as chips and a wide range of colours, these are definitely recommended by me.
Summary: good quality polish
