Advantages: Easy to apply, looks great and a good variety of shades available.
Disadvantages: It can make other parts of your face a bit glittery too!
I bought this Boots 17 Glitter Eye Shadow at the same time that I bought the glitter eyeliner (see previous review) as I wanted sparkly eyes for the Christmas season. The shade I'm reviewing is called 'Spirit' and it's a silver/grey colour. It's also available in the following shades:
'Style Queen' (white/silver)
'Heart Breaker' (pink)
'Chalice' (brown)
'Gold Digger' (gold)
'Superstar' (green)
'Night Sky' (black)
'Socialite' (blue)
The two featured in the picture on Dooyoo I would say are 'Socialite' and 'Style Queen'.
I would've actually preferred the 'Night Sky' shade but it wasn't available so I just chose 'Spirit' instead. It's a grey-sort-of-dark-silver shade so it's great for smoky looking eyes.
They are currently selling for £3.49 each and all Boots 17 products are on 3 for 2 at the moment. If you have a Boots Advantage Card you'll earn yourself 12 points by purchasing one of these.
The packaging says that it's fragrance-free and dermatologically tested too.
I found it very easy to apply. It doesn't come with an applicator so you have to use your own; I just used a normal sponge eye shadow applicator. It glided onto my eyelids very easily and only needed to be applied once for an even cover.
It really makes your eyes stand out as the glitter catches the light all the time! It's not like the eyeliner; the glitter pieces are very small and silky so if they get into your eye it doesn't cause any irritation.
I normally have an issue with my eye shadow forming into a line across the middle of my eyelid if I've been wearing if for a few hours but this wonderful eye shadow stayed smoothed all day.
My one criticism of this eye shadow is that the glitter does seem to travel around your face a bit! Even though this was the only glitter make-up I was wearing I still ended up with sparkly bits on my cheeks, forehead and one person commented "you have glitter on your nose!"
As the 'Spirit' shade isn't very dark on its own, I like to put my normal eye shadow on first then put a thin layer of this across the top to give my eyes that added sparkle.
Overall I really like this so I intend to go back and buy the 'Night Sky' shade to add to my make-up collection too!
Summary: Perfect for party eyes!
