“ Brand: Boots 17 / Type: Mascara / Suitable for: Eye „
I don't know how much this mascara currently is as I received this as a gift from a friend. She made me a little make-up gift set as a thank you present.
The mascara comes presented in a black tube with the "17" logo written on it in silver writing. The packaging looks really nice, sometimes simple is the best. The brush is of a decent shape and size and it's really comfortable to use. The mascara has no nasty smell, it just has a faint subtle scent that you can't really detect, unless you place your nose right up to it.
The mascara is easy to use. You don't need to apply too much of it for impact, although I suggest the old Zig Zag motion to cover those corner lashes. The mascara is available in various different shades but I opted for the black shade and it defines my eyes VERY well, considering that my lashes are naturally light and fair. This mascara (the black shade) covers up my light lashes, making them fit in with my dark brown/ black hair. The mascara doesn't clump either, so no more spider eyes.
Some mascaras (usually cheap ones) irritate my eyes, leaving them red and sore. This mascara doesn't irritate my eyes in any way, it's just a great mascara. It defines the eyes whilst creating volume and impact. It's cheap (the 17 brand is always cheaply priced) and they usually have some sort of offer on 17 products. I would recommend this mascara to everyone. It's a simple mascara without the fancy packaging.
I cannot tell you how much I love this mascara!!!!
I have tried soooo many mascaras over the years, and although not overly sensitive I find many mascaras flaky and this does irritate my eyes. Moreover, I have never found any of the wild claims of max factor and maybelline etc to be anywhere near reality. Usually I find satisfactory results, but certainly not the huge curl, no clump definition promised.
This little beauty however, makes the much more expensive mascaras look foolish. It dosn't flake or peel, and provides actual definition without being spidery-the holy grail of mascara effects. Although not marketed as a waterproof mascara, if you need any proof that it doesn't smudge or run-it survived my boyfriend's proposal!
For around a fiver this is a real bargain and I would recommend trying it before splashing out on some of its competitors' flashier attempts, even big brother Boots No7 does not match up.
Since there's usually a boots promotion on this range with a free gift, give it a try.
A friend recently bought this and after finding she didnt like it she handed it over to me. I never say no to freebies.
It is mascara from Boots own range 17 which means its quite cheap however it doesnt necessarily mean the quality will be bad as I have used 17 products before and have found them to be quite good.
The mascra tube looks quite sophiticated and more expensive then the few pounds she probley spent on it. The tube is black yet there is a silver lid and the writing is also silver this gives it quite a contemprary feel and I love the fact it is quite understated as there isnt loads of writing on it with claims about what this mascara does.
The lid screws off and the brush is attached. Its quite a strudy one which is good as sometimes they can be flimsy and I find it hard to apply these.
The brush seems to hold onto the perfect amount of mascara and so you neededn't keep redipping it or scrapping any off, which is good as it measn it should last a while.
It applys well and gives a good even coverage, I find that this mascara is more for the day as it is quite understated and gives you a very natual look which I like. The drawback is that on the night if im going out I sometimes want a more dramtic look for my eyes. So I applied to coats of this mascara unfortunaley this then went a bit clumpy.
However I will still use this as it works well for the day and lasts ages.
I bought the Boots 17 Infinite Lash Defining Mascara before Christmas, having had a crisis on the way to work when I realised I'd forgotten to put any make-up on apart from my usual foundation, having been distracted in the middle of getting ready by a tantrum from my two year old. As I never go to work without a full face of make-up, this caused me to go running to the nearest branch of Boots as soon as I got off the tube.
On browsing the slightly limited range of make-up (it's a small Boots), I decided that I should stick to a small budget and just buy something basic and relatively cheap. This goes against my usual policy that you get what you pay for when buying make-up but, in these times of financial turmoil, I think a lot of people are probably having to make the same decision. So, at a cost of £4.99, I decided that this would be the mascara that I would try.
The mascara comes in a plain black tube with a silver lid - fairly standard packaging really. Inside, the brush part of the wand is fairly short and a bit chunkier than I would expect from a lash defining product. There is no shape to the wand to encourage curling - if you want truly fabulous lashes from this you would need to use an eyeIash curler as well. I wasn't convinced that it would give me the definition I promised, but having bought it, I had to give it a try.
The texture of the mascara is ok - it doesn't appear to be clumpy at all which is good as I've bought mascaras at three times the price that get clumps after a few applications. It is relatively thick and easily applied to your lashes to leave them looking relatively well defined. You need to apply a couple of coats to get decent coverage though and I feel that it would be difficult to get dramatic eyes that really stand out from it, as it starts to flake a bit after the second coat.
In terms of durability, I don't think this is a great product. It doesn't appear to last that well and after applying in the morning, I often feel like I need to freshen it up after lunch, which I don't need to do with more expensive products. It is ok for work but for evenings out I would choose a more effective mascara that gives a lot more volume and really gives a dramatic look to your eyes.
It claims that "Flexible brush evenly coats and seperates lashes for superb length and definition. No clumps, just fabulous lashes!" - I would say that these claims are over-optimistic. It definitely doesn't lengthen my lashes. They are fairly well separated and well defined, and it is not a clumpy mascara. It doesn't make me feel fabulous though, I just feel like I've made a basic effort with my make-up and no more than that.
Overall, this product is ok but no more than that. It's not a bad budget buy but I really don't think I'd be buying it again. I think I will continue to see a good mascara as an investment buy and stick to the higher-end brands that I've come to trust.
I needed a new mascara, and being on a budget decided to avoid the likes of Max Factor and Maybelline and headed to Boots own 17 range to try out one of theirs. I settled on the Infinite Lash mascara at a reasonable £4.99 and even better the whole range was on 3 for 2 so I stocked up on a few other essentials.
The mascara is the new one of the 17 range and the claims on the back are as follows -
"Flexible brush evenly coats and seperates lashes for superb length and definition. No clumps, just fabulous lashes!"
I don't think I've ever used a mascara that does everything it claims (admittedly I refuse to cross the £15 mark) but this isn't too bad for the price. The lashes do appear longer with a few coats, though they do clump a little. There is no curling effect here either. They definately improve the look of the lashes but not to any amazing effect. The brush is short and stubby and could have been better designed, plus the mascara is a little thick, this results too much mascara being on the brush as it's applied so you have to be careful not to get that spidery effect you get when applying too much.
The look of the mascara itself is plain. The tube is black with a silver lid and screams 'ordinary'. I'd use this for day to day use and for work, but for a night out I'd want to something with a much more dramatic effect. For the price though, it's not too bad for a make up basic.
