==Boots 17 Lasting Fix Lipstick==
I am not a big lipstick fan although to be fair this has never really stopped me buying a whole ton of different types and brands with the hope that they may actually suit me. The reason I am not a big fan is that I find my lips look much better with just a simple clear gloss or a very tan coloured product that looks very natural.
This particular lipstick I have however is far from natural and is the most vibrant colour I have ever bought for myself or worn. I remember thinking I have never had a bright red lipstick and because of the cheap price of this particular lipstick I decided I might give it a go.
The 17 range is a Boots one and therefore can only be purchased from high street Boots stores or from their online store. The standard price of the lipstick is £4.29 pence although I bought it on some sort of 3 for 2 offer no doubt as there is always an offer such as this running. Th
The range offers a vast selection of colours and all of them seem to be in the pinky red type of tones. My colour is called "Showbiz" which is the deepest red that the range offers. The packaging that the product comes in is a simple matte black casing that is standard to most lipsticks in that half of the tube comes away as this is the lid then the bottom can be twisted in order to make the lipstick inside increase in size. It came with a slated edge to it and the product was roughly about an inch in length in side.
Other than stating the name of the shade and the brand on a matching swatch coloured sticker on the bottom of the tube there is little else on the packaging to mention. The 17 number logo is printed on the top of the lid in a silver colour and using the lipstick is no different to others I have used and I have had no issues with it.
The product inside smells just like other lipsticks which is a very mild aroma although the Boots website does state that it is fragrance free I can definitely still smell a little aroma although at the moment what with being pregnant I have the heightened sense of smell like a bloodhound! The products name would suggest exactly what the makers of the product claim it to do in the fact that it is a lipstick that gives you a "lasting fix".
I have used this lipstick a lot more than I thought I would and the colour doesn't look too bad on me when going out for a night out and trying to make somewhat of a statement. It is a lot better at staying put on my lips than other brands of lipsticks that I have tried and the bold red colour seems to stay where applied and not "bleed" into the edges of my lips. Of course with drinking and eating I find that the lipstick does wear off slightly but this is just to be expected with any lip product and it does hold up much better than most when doing these activities.
The softness of the lipstick makes it easy to apply as it will glide effortlessly across my lips and not pull or drag on the skin in the slightest. The product feels very nourishing when applied and as the Boots website states it is meant to be a "non-drying" product and I can vouch that yes this is the case and even after it being on the lips for a good while it still feels fresh and creamy.
Overall I have to say that I am really very pleased with the purchase of this lipstick. It was a very affordable price and does actually live up to the claims that the 17 brand state. It lasts for a good period of time whilst keeping the colour rich and making my lips feel nourished. I can't find a single fault with the product and although not a colour I wear all the time the deep red is a good one for wearing on occasions and it does make a statement and look good.
I think this lipstick is well worth awarding a top score of 5 out of 5 stars and I think should another shade in the range catch my eye that I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up and add it to my shopping basket with the knowledge that it is a great product. As you can guess I would highly recommend this brand, this range and also this shade.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
Its only recently that I discovered the amazing Boots No17 range of long lasting lipsticks. I was given one as a present by a colleague at work, and have fallen in love with the range. My current favourites are the shades ' showbiz ' a deep red shade, and ' power' a neon pink!!
I find the lipstick stays on for about 3/4 hours. The colour dries onto your lips (so doesn't continue to rub onto your teeth an hour later, something I have a lot of trouble with) and doesn't end up all over every glass / cup I drink from. I find the lipstick still stays quite moisturising on my lips and doesn't dry them out. For a very glam evening look, I often wear the lipstick, allow it to dry, and then add a layer of clear gloss over the top!
The lipsticks I have are of standard size, in a black case with a metallic bright pink trim, which looks really modern and attractive, and makes it look much more expensive than it actually is! In summary - this is one of my favourite high street brands for lipsticks!
I would recommend this to a friend, especially to:
Those loving bright bold colours
Those looking for bargain buy (£3.49!)
Those looking for long lasting coverage
I bought this on a whim whilst in Boots looking at their 3 for 2. I picked up the shade 'Showbiz' which is a classic pillar box red shade.
The lipstick is fab, it really does live up to its name of lasting fix! I'm a bit useless when it comes to wearing makeup (or rather the upkeep once I'm out!).
I wore this on Saturday night to the pub. I'd put it on just before I left and then didn't re-apply (or even nip to the loos and take a look). It was still in place by the time I got home (after a few pints!) and looked as good as it did when I left!
No smudges, no budges, no bits on my teeth and no looking like Courtney Love ;)
I love the colour, it's not too shiney but not too matte and doesn't dry your lips out. It suits my skin tone too (I have freckles and I think that makes some colours look a bit urgh on me!)
I think it has blue tones to it too as lots of people have commented how white my teeth look when I wear it.
I've also had lots of compliments from people and people asking which lipstick I'm wearing.
I wear it with a bit of mascara and a flick of black eyeliner for a classic look :)
I have actually bought a back up of this as I love it so much!
My lovely hubby bought me some makeup as part of my christmas present and bless him he admitted that he went into boots and didn't have a clue! so he just grabbed some things that he thought I might like and popped them in his basket.
This lipstick was one of the products he grabbed.
===== The Lipstick =====
The No17 lipstick that I have is the Lasting Fix however it looks different to the above picture.
The lipstick comes in a matte Black case with a bright pink centre showing and this is also the colour of the centre that twists up.
There are many colours in the range from pale natural to vibrant reds and hot pinks.
It is designed to be applied and give lasting colour for 4 hours without drying out your lips.
====== Application ======
I always apply my lipstick with a lip brush and never straight from the applicator as I find that you can apply a more professional finish and this also gives it more staying power.
I found that the lipstick looked very thick and creamy in the application and the was matte.
I loaded up my brush and started to apply. the lipstick went on very smoothly and was thick so I definately recommend using a brush so you do not overload you lips and can also add to it if needed.
The lipstick is designed to be matte although when I applied it I found that it was not a complete matte and had a slightly creamy look which I think gives it a softer look as completely matte lips can be a hard look to pull off.
====== Staying Power =====
As I said earlier due to applying with a brush I find that my lipsticks last a while anyway however I noticed that I did not need to re apply the lipstick for at least 4 hours although it is worth noting that if going for a strong colour as mine is you may find that the colour is not as vibrant.
It is also worth noting that due to the vibrant colour and high pigmentation only a little came off on my coffee cup and hardly any on my husband (pink is not his colour)
I think with a more subtle or pale colour you wouldn't even notice.
====== Effect On Lips ======
You can sometimes find with matte or long lasting colour that the price you pay for that is that you lips can become dry as there is not a great deal of moisture in the lipstick.
I found that after wearing it my lips were slightly dryer than usual but I have to be fair and say that I spend a lot of time out doors and can suffer from dryness at the best of times.
The lipstick felt comfortable all day and it was only after wearing that I noticed the slight drying.
====== My Conclusion ======
Overall I would recommend this lipstick to others.
When applied the colour was true to the lipstick itself and went on very smoothly and was comfortable to wear all day long.
The choice of colours in the range are great and at a price of only £ 3.49 from boots you can experiment with other colours.
The only drawback is the slight dryness but if you keep you lips moisturizer then this should not be a problem.
Available at Boots and also online.
====== Making Your Lipstick Last Longer ======
Always apply to clean dry lips, If your lips are dry try rubbing them with a clean toothbrush ( that you are not going to use) in small circular movements as this will stimulate the blood flow and remove and dry flakes, apply a lip balm and leave overnight.
Use a lip brush to apply as this allows you to build up the colour and then with a clean tissue place between your lips and press. then with a loose powder gently apply over the lips and then re apply your lipstick.
I'm a firm believer in buying products that have been recommended to me buy a friend, so when my best friend told me she'd found a lipstick that was comparable to MAC quality, I had to try it. The lipstick she was talking about was the Boots 17 Lasting Fix Lipstick.
Boots currently have an offer on their lipstick, so you can buy 2 for £6 instead of the usual £3.49, you aren't saving a huge deal, but I'm one for snapping an offer when there is one available, so I chose my two colours and left.
I bought Cashmere Blush and Showbiz.
Cashmere Blush is part of their Sheer Moisture collection, and therefore won't be reviewed in this review.
Showbiz is a very pigmented red colour with purple/blue undertones. This means that it will give the appearance of whiter teeth instead of yellow undertones which will make your teeth appear more yellow.
The lipstick comes in very simple packaging, just a plain black plastic tube with a red band around the middle. There is very minimal information on the tube, with the brand (17) being printed on the top of the tube and the colour being printed on the bottom. Once you open the lipstick, you'll find that you very a decent amount of product for the price you've paid, especially when you find out how pigmented it is. It isn't the typical shape of a lipstick which slightly irks me, but it's nothing too problematic. It's tapered from both sides of the lipstick, giving you a choice of which side you'd like to use, but sometimes it's a little too rounded and makes a bit of a mess.
The lipstick itself applies very easily due to the creamy formula and you only need one layer to achieve a perfect red lip. If you want to tone down the colour a bit for everyday wear, then apply it on top of a chapstick to reduce the colour payoff. I prefer to just wear it as it is with a clear gloss on top.
I've received no drying effects with this lipstick which is always a plus for me as no one wants dry, chapped lips!
I haven't found any claims as far as colour payoff and the lasting time, but this lipstick lasted all night last night at a party (lots of cheek kissing, eating and drinking, although I do drink through straws, so that may have helped preserve the colour). I've worn it during the day a few times too, and it seems to last the whole day without smudging.
- non drying
- high pigmentation
- non smudging
- cheap as chips
- the shape of the lipstick, but don't let that you put you off as i'm just being nitpicky
As mentioned at the start, this lipstick is available in Boots at the 17 counter and there are 20 colours and shades to choose from.
Overall, I completely love this lipstick and will definitely be buying more of them in the future.
Thanks for reading!
I was recently feeling that my make up bag needed a bit of a revamp and was lacking some of the girlie pinks I used to wear a few years ago. I like to use make-up by Benefit and Clinique, but my bank account isn't stretching too far these days, so decided to revisit the make up from my teens and try out Boots 17.
One of the lipsticks I chose was 17 Lasting Fix in "Shell". This shade is a very pale, icy metallic pink. When applied, it gives quite a translucent colour rather than a solid colour. Applied over lipliner, it looks more solid. My lips are quite dry and I found that it highlighted the chapped skin a little. It feels a little bit heavy on the lips, but feels like it has stuck well and wont slide off. I didn't find that it made my lips feel dry.
The lipstick is called Lasting Fix, so some lasting power is expected. I found that it lasts quite well considering this is a cheap brand of make up. It stays well if you don't eat or drink, but even after a cup of tea, some of the colour still remains (some of it is rubbed off on the cup however).
The packaging is quite nice - it doesn't look expensive but looks a bit sassy. The tube is a regular lipstick size and feels solid. It is made from matt-black plastic, with the bit that twists in bright crimson pink metallic plastic. The 17 logo appears on the top of the lid, in silver.
The price is the winner in this product. It is very cheap, costing £3.49 as at 15 Feb 2010. But even better, 17 products are often on offer so even more of a bargain can be had. For instance, when I purchased this, 17 was on 3 for 2, and with a free eye-make up set when over £6 was spent. As I was purchasing more than one product anyway, I made a saving! Advantage Card holders can also pick up points!
17 is a bargain brand, but is it value for money? In my eyes, yes it is. The products aren't as good quality as some of the more expensive brands, but is miles better than comparible brands such as Rimmel. I tend to have reactions to brands like Rimmel, but I've had no such problem with 17.
17 Lasting Fix lipstick is fragrance-free and dermatologically tested. As at 15 Feb 2010, it is available in 20 different shades. It is only available from Boots and can be purchased in store or on line.
Lasting Fix isn't the greatest lipstick I've ever used, but it certainly does an acceptable job and for the bargain price, is definitely worth it. It's a good option if you want to try out some different shades without paying out a lot on a more expensive brand.
I would give the packaging a 4/5 as it is quite attractive and feels durable. As for the feel, I would give it 3/5 - it does feel a bit heavy but doesn't dry the lips like some long-lasting lipsticks. For the colour result, I would give 3/5, as the coverage isn't brilliant but it still looks attractive. I also only have the "Shell" shade to base this on. For lasting power, 3/5 - it lasts reasonably well for the price. For price - 5/5. For £3.49, I couldn't really ask for more.
17 is a make up brand made by boots and sold in boots. In relative terms it is a cheap make up brand, yet manages to have simple but cool packaging and it is marketed as really funky, with cool shades and colours.
If I wish to buy a lipstick or nail varnish that is really funky and quite risky I never know how much wear I am going to get out of it, and therefore do not want to invest a lot of money into it, and so I normally purchase one of the number 17 lipsticks.
The lipsticks come in a cool matt black casing with some silver coloured detail round the middle. They have a silver 17 logo on one end and the colour and name of colour on the other end. The packaging is very simple but effective.
The lid on the lipstick is easy to pull off and you can twist the lipstick itself out easily. As far as you need it. The lipstick itself is smooth and easy to apply. It glides on the lips easily as long as they are not dry and flakey, in which case it clumps up and looks incredibly unflattering. The lipstick has a nice glossy finish, but not too glossy that it looks like lip gloss. It is also not sticky like lipgloss so you don't have the problems with your hair sticking to it when you go out in the wind.
When it comes to lasting, the lipstick lasts at top colour for about an hour, and it does last over that but not at optimum strength. It is easy to keep in your handbag and top up though, and it is definitely worth the price you pay for it, I will keep on buying 17 lipsticks, without looking elsewhere.
I first bought this lipstick (in this exact shade) about 7 or 8 years ago, and have been buying it regularly ever since. I think it looks good for a night out when combined with strong eye make up. The lipstick feels light and natural on your lips, but comes off fairly easily.
About Boots 17 Range: The Boots 17 Range has been developed and marketed towards the teenage or early twenties market. It is affordable and trendy and there are often offers such as ' a free gift when you spend £5'.
Packaging: The packaging is a trendy and modern navy case trimmed in silver with silver writing on.
Shade: The shade I have based my review on is 'Sweet Sizzle'. This is a light frosted pink girly shade. The lipstick looks like it has glittery/ shimmery particles in it, which give a lovely shiny effect when on the lips.
Would I recommend: I think this would be a great lipstick to buy for any teenage friends or relatives who are just starting to use make up. I would definitely recommend this based on the price, but for a few pounds extra there are better quality lipsticks out there (such as Maybelline).
Where to buy and price: The 17 range is only available in Boots, with prices starting from just a few pounds. This lipstick costs around £3.99.
I like to treat myself every once and a while and buy a new lipstick which is when I noticed this product. The colour I decided on is called Blondie which is quite a subtle pale peach colour, I thought it would be ok for work.
The No 17 Lasting Fix Lipstick is available in around 19 different shades so definitely plenty of options colour wise. With pale colours to choose from such as pinks, peaches and nudes. Also there are darker shades like chocolate and dark berry colours. The lipsticks are priced at £3.71 which I think is a fairly reasonable price.
It states that it will last up to four hours and that it will not dry out your lips. I definitely agree with the latter, even though it isn't really a glossy lipstick my lips still feel moisturised and soft without any stickyness or any gloopy feeling. However i'm not quite sure I would agree with the colour lasting four hours. Most of the lipstick does remain in place when drinking but for your lips to look their best I would recommend reapplying the lipstick.
In the end you get what you pay for and I am quite happy to buy this lipstick again. I do have to say that it is one of the best lower end priced lipsticks for staying power. For work it is perfect for me, maybe not for a night out though unless you want to be reapplying after every drink.
I would have to give the product 3 stars out of 5!
Im not much of a make up wearer but when I had got alot of points on my boots card I decided to treat myself to some make up for those special days out. I had purchased a wide range of eyeshaddows and required a lipstick to complement them. I have naturally pale skin so choosing a lipstick is hard for me because they always look dark and stand out alot.
I bought Cranberry Crush which is a very deep and bright pink which is not my usual choice. I bought this colour because of the pink eye shaddows that I had bought. This is actually a lovely shade once it is applied and with a darker lip liner it lookes very proffessional, because it is a dark colour it does stand out but not that it makes your lips look silly.
The lipstick itself is smooth to apply and I tend to apply it with a lip brush for a more even application, this also makes it come out a little lighter on the lip. The lipstick is good at the staying power once it is applied it takes about 4 hours before it has rubbed off if you are drinking, if it is worn out and about without much touching of the lips it lasts much longer. I have noticed that I do not need to apply this lipstick very often when I have got it on which is great. They do a wide range of colours but for the money I do not tend to purchase so much of it.
It cost almost £4 when I bought mine a year ago and am due for another one now. This is good value since it has lasted me 12 months but if I wore it on a daily basis this would dent my bank balance a little bit and I think that you should have a choice of different colours so it can work out a little expensive.
I would advise for a wearer of lipstick to give this a try, if you can find a colour that suits you it has real staying power on the lips and is worth the money. I have lots of children so this price is a treat to me.
***ABOUT THE 17 RANGE***
The 17 range is only avaaliable from Boots as it is Boots own brand of cosmetics. The 17 cosmetics range has a great range of items including liquid foundation for all skin types, tinted moisturiser, loose powder, pressed powder, bronzing pearls, Nail varnish, Lipstick's, Lip Liner, Eye-Liner, Eye-shadow, Glitter Pots, Lip Gloss, Mascara and more. This range is great value with a wide range of colours to choose from.
***LASTING FIX LIPSTICK***
I am a big fan of the 17 range and use their liquid foundation and their loose powder as well. I have been trying to look for the perfect colour lipstick and I spent ages looking at different brands and colours and I thought I should try the 17 range in boots.
This lipstick comes in 18 different shades including pinks, red's and neutral colours as well. The perfect shade I found was called Shell which is a nice light pink colour. The lipstick cost me £3.71 and it is currently on a 3 for 2 offer on selected cosmetics.
The lipstick comes in a nice black packaging and when you take the lid off you will see a nice pink metallic colour. Just simply twist the bottom of the lipstick to push it up and apply to your lips. The lipstick is long lasting and non-drying and also gives great coverage for your lips.
***USING THE LIPSTICK***
I decided to use this lipstick on a night out on the town. The lipstick applies very easily and glides on quite well. I was happy with the look of the lipstick but felt as though my lips needed some extra moisture so I simply dabbed some vaseline on top of the lipstick and rubbed my lips together. I then tidied it up a bit and was happy with the result. I have lovely moisturised lips with a nice pink colour to them.
I only needed to apply the lipstick once or twice throughout the night as the staying power of the lipstick was quite good. Every-time I put some lipstick on I quickly put some vaseline on the top to make my lips more moisturised and to stop them drying out.
I love the colour of this lipstick and love the staying power of it as well. It's definately long lasting and it's a great price as well. Personally I feel as though the lipstick is slightly too dry for my lips which is why I slick some vaseline on top of the lipstick to keep my lips moisturised and the make the lipstick look lovely and glossy. This is a great lipstick which I will continue to use and I will also look at this range first should I decide I want a lipstick in another colour.
I got this lipstick as part of a 3 for 2 offer at boots. I got the 'dare to bare' shade, which is basically a rich nude colour. I have to say that I wan't very impressed. When I out the lipstick on, it bled quite a lot even though it isn't a glossy lipstick. This made my lips look really messy. It isn't a very glossy lipstick and it isn't supposed to be a gloss, but i thought it made my lips look quite dry and didn't give a really full lip affect like some other lipsticks do.
The weirdest thing about this lipstick is although it is supposed to be a pale nude colour, it left a really bright pink residue on my lips when I took it off (which wasn't very long after I had put it on). This residue was like the consitency of a lipstick in itself, almost as if i had put on a spearate pink lipstick underneath. I thought this was very weird and it kept happening on subsequent days when I tried the lipstick again.
I quite like the look of the stick itself as it looks quite elegant and modern, which is one of the reasons I picked it as part of the buy one get one free offer - it looked like it was going to be a good lipstick.
The other good thing about this lipstick is that it comes in quite a lot of different colours, ranging from browns to pinks to reds - basically the range has all the staple colours you would want and more.
Overall I would not buy this lipstick again as it bled over the edge of my lips, making it look more like I had a dirty mouth rather than had new lippie on. I spent quite a while applying it properly and it still did this. Worse was the strange pink residue it left underneath. I also noticed the the end of the lipstick itself was tinged with pink the next time I went to use it - as if there was residue of another lipstick on the end. Very strange.
I was dissapointed with this lipstick a I had been looking for a really nice nude shade for ages and I could've used the 3 for 2 offer for something else.
Ever since the X Factor started this year I have been searching for a bright pink lipstick like the one that I have seen Cheryl Cole wearing so often. It's extremely frustrating when you spot the shade that you want on someone else and I had two trips to Boots before I finally discovered a shade that isn't perfect but is close enough!
I first bought a lipstick from the 'shine on' collection in the 17 range which was completely the wrong colour when I got home. (I will review this one later). On my second trip, after testing every pink lipstick on the back of my hand I finally chose a 'lasting finish' lipstick in 'Pink Power' in the hope that it would be the colour I wanted. I wasn't expecting miracles when I first used the product as I know how hard it is to find a good lipstick shade but I was pleasantly surprised at not just the colour, but also the other benefits of this lipstick.
The main thing that attracted me to choosing my lipstick from the 17 range was the price. I love No7 products but they can often be very expensive and for makeup products that don't really have to be of the highest quality I often choose No17. The lasting finish lipsticks cost £3.71 which is a great price if you just want to try out a new shade. The 17 range is also good if you need a specific shade for a fancy dress party and you can always rely on them to have the colours that are currently in fashion.
Another benefit of the 17 range is that you can use your Boots Advantage card points to buy things and as the prices are quite cheap, you don't need many points to afford them. I used my points to pay for my lipstick so effectively got a free one!
So as always when I buy new makeup, after purchasing my bargain lipstick I had to try it as soon as I got home. I applied the lipstick to my lips, building up the shade as the more lipstick you apply the more vibrant the colour, then blotted on a tissue and applied another layer. When looking in the mirror I noticed that the lipstick was sitting on the top of my lips and didn't look great. To solve this I used a lip brush to blend the colour into my lips giving a much more even colour.
This product felt lovely on my lips and although I usually don't like the feel of heavy lipstick, this one felt very light and lived up to it's moisturising properties by making my lips feel really soft. I really liked the colour as it was very bright and isn't for anyone who wants a subtle look, however I did feel that it was a bit too matte and would have looked better with a bit of a shine. To get over this, I applied a bit of clear lip gloss over the top, again blending it in with my lipstick and the finish was much more glossy and made the colour look even better.
As the product is named 'lasting finish' it is important to comment on how long it lasts and I'm pleased to say that it definitely stays in place for at least 4 hours (as it claims to) even when eating and drinking. In fact, I can apply the lipstick in the morning and still have a pink tint to my lips at the end of the day. Obviously if you apply gloss over the top this wears off quicker but the colour still remains.
The only disadvantage of this long lasting consistency is that it is very hard to remove. It really stains your lips and takes a bit of time rubbing with a makeup wipe to properly get it all off.
This range of lipstick comes in a large variety of colours including other popular shades such as Poncho Pink and Hot Chilli. It is recommended to try them on your lips before purchasing however, as the colour on the stick on the top of the tube always looks different to how it does on your lips.
Overall, if you find a shade you like this lipstick is great value and has really good lasting power. If you're sick of your lipstick wearing off after an hour or so then this is the product for you!
What the Product Says about Itself....
It's creamy, long-lasting, moisturising and best of all - transfer resistant
17 Lasting Fix Lipstick provides long lasting, non-drying coverage for your lips that lasts up to 4 hours.
I've always been fussy when it comes to buying make-up I prefer make-up by brands such as: Chanel, MAC, Dior and Estee Lauder so when I purchased this product I didn't think I'd like it, I was just buying it because after browsing through all the other make-up counters in Boots "Hot Chilli" by 17 was one of my favourite shades that I'd seen all day.
Lasting Fix lipstick goes on very easily, it feels like you're just putting on lip balm because it's so moisturizing and soft. What I've found with this product is the darker colours stay on no matter what, they can even last longer than four hours as the company claims, they could last all day despite eating and drinking, however the lighter colours don't seem to last as long. For instance after buying "Hot chilli" I purchased "Heather Pink" this is a medium pink, not too light not too dark, this will stay on my lips for only an hour or so and definitely won't stay on after eating or drinking, it will just slip off the formulae in this lipstick seems to be less thick than the one in "Hot chilli" it feels even more softer then "Hot Chilli" and it would easily slide off.
With "Hot Chilli" I apply the product in the centre of my top and bottom lips then I smudge it on, it's a very bizarre way of applying a lipstick but the more lipstick you put on with this product the darker it becomes, and I prefer a nice subtle red so that's why I apply it in such a bizarre manner.
With my pink shade I apply it just how you would normally apply a lipstick, around the whole of the lips, press lips together and then do the bottom lips.
With "Hot chilli" I sometimes add a lip-gloss on top because it's matte, were as "Heather pink" although its matte it has a shine to it so I don't always add a lip-gloss to it.
The problem with "Hot chilli" is the fact it takes so long to come off, my other make-up such as my foundation and mascara will come off straight away when I've used my facial wipes, but this lipstick takes ages to come off and when you eventually feel like it's come off if you look in the mirror in another light you can see stains from the lipstick so I then get another wipe and just rub it off until it completely goes..
There are various shades available in the 17 collection, I've noticed most of them are pinks a few beiges and one or two reds, I recommend "Hot chilli" for people who want a red lipstick because I've used to many red lipsticks from different brands and I really love this one, its great it stays on for ages and the colour is not too red it has a really small tint of orange (you can't tell when it's on your lips but it does look less red then some lipsticks) unfortunately there's no point in me even recommending heather pink as I've looked on the site and it's no longer available, It is a good colour but like I said before the pinks don't seem to last as long as the darker colours, that's why I've come to the conclusion this range of lipsticks is more beneficial for people who wear darker colours.
I really do like this range and at £3.71 you really can't go wrong, I would love 17 to improve the durability for the pink lipsticks but the darker colours durability's are exceptional. Great product and great price!
I needed a new lipstick but couldn't afford an expensive one and this Lasting Fix Lipstick by 17 at Boots caught my eye. It's only £3.71.
The packaging is very simple. It's a normal matte black lipstick tube. There is a shiny metal pink bit in the middle. On one end it says 17 in a silver font and on the other end it tells us the shade. The sticker is the shade of the lipstick.
*Using The Product*
You just apply it like any other lipstick. It went on pretty well but may take a couple of layers to build up to a desired coverage or a deeper shade. I found that my lips seemed a little bitty during application but that was because my lips were quite dry.
It was an average lipstick. There are brands out there that do a better lipstick for around the same price, and there a some worse lipsticks too. The only problem is the shades seem to come out brighter than they appear to be on the stickers. So use the tester in the shop first. I bought the shade 'dreamy' which on the sticker, appears to be a mid-pink blushing colour, but came out bright pink on my lips. If you buy it, make sure that your lips are well moisturised before application because if they aren't this lipstick looks awful! It is very long lasting. I think it works by staining the lips because it is VERY hard to remove.
I like this lipstick, mainly because of the price. If I had payed over £5.00 for it I don't thing I would be impressed. With this lipstick I think it depends on the shade you buy and the condition of your lips to tell whether you like it or not. Try it. =]
