Advantages: Great even coverage, very moisturising, lives up to its claims.
Disadvantages: It's a cheap lookin brand.
On yet another trip to Boots just before Christmas I found myself looking for make up for the New Year. I was going out New Years Eve and wanted all new cosmetics to go with all the new clothes I'd purchased for the big night lol.
I usually purchase No7 or Max Factor and in the past have tried No17 and not been very impressed and I'm really not keen on the packaging as that's something that really is important to me cos my friends are all fashionesta snobs! So like many of us gals I do own some stuff of the less expensive brands but they are my secret and I don't go out with my pals and then get in the pub toilet and whip my cheapies out and stand next to them with their latest Dior Lippys!
However I wanted to try something new and I came across a lovely colour that was me to a T. So I stood in front of the No17 counter and thought do I purchase this at this price or do I go and get a similar one the No7 counter for almost triple the price? So I decided to try it as I had a 100 point reward to go on my advantage card if buying No17.
Packaging Of My No17 'Lasting Fix' Lipstick.
dark grey , slightly shimmery tube with silver 17 written on it and I'm clearly told what it is. On the base of the lipstick I'm told my colour (New Black) and that's about it. Lid slides off and product twists out for usage.

Verdict....
Well I really thought when I came to writing this review I would give it a much less of a good write up than I'm going to. I really thought it was going to be cheap and nasty, however....
Its very good. Its easy to apply and goes on quite thick but is very moisturising and hydrating. I hate the feeling of lipstick on my lips and that's why on the whole I use Max Factor Lipfinity. However this, I can put on a coat and I don't even feel the need to blot it all off to leave me with a stain on my lips. However you do need to blot if you want to drink, eat etc but if you just want to stand and do a Victoria Beckham pout this is great lol
To apply it though I've found the best way is to apply, blot, reapply and blot. It really stains the lips and then if you like a glossy finish as your lipstick is dried as you've blotted it, apply some of your favourite gloss and voila, job done.
My lips do feel very soft using this lipstick and I've found using it this way means I get no little 'bleeds' in to my fine lines around my lips and it doesn't cake on. '
I agree with Boots as well that this lipstick does last 4 hours, but again in the way I've described using it. Just applying it and wearing it straight out the tube isn't the way and you lose if almost immediately and anything you come into contact with, including clothes does get it on so there claim of not transferring doesn't hold water with me.
It wears off just after 4 hours and can be reapplied. This is a bonus as with some lipsticks I've found that reapplying over remnants of old lipstick can look really congealed. Not with this it blends in and over the top well.
Getting it off requires a bit of work, particularly with the darker colours like the one I chose. I couldn't take it off out and about without getting a dark stain around my mouth and chin! It takes cleanser and toner to fully remove it properly.
This will never replace my beloved Lipfinity in the lasting ability department however we're looking at far less than half price and this is a lipstick not a lip paint. It delivers what it promises with ease and I certainly will be purchasing more of them. I appreciate it saying it lasts 4 hours and it does last a little over that time. It isn't making huge claims to be something that it isn't. It's just a very nice hydrating, rich, thick lipstick that doesn't irritate me and is easy to wear!
£3.49 Per lipstick, Boots only. (please note my colour is no longer available and colours change quite often). Other types of lipsticks are also available in the same range.
Summary: A decent lippy that delivers what it promises, nothing more and nothing less.
