“ Brand: Boots 17 / Type: Mascara / Suitable for: Eye „
I bought this mascara in brown because I wanted something subtle for my eyes that I could wear to school.
One of the first things I noticed about this mascara was the smell, it was extremely chemically and was a bit dubious about putting it near my eyes. The brush was very bristly and medium sized. It was easy to apply and coated my lashes but dried so quick it was hard to build up a really nice thick coat. It didn't give my lashes much length or curl ebcause of the quick drying formula, it just made them look a bit short and little clumpy. With more practice I managed to get them to just look bushy and thick but they still looked a bit stubby and short. I noticed it seemed to flake off through the day too which looked really weird and made me pick at the mascara a lot which irritated my eyes. The mascara dried up with only a few weeks use as well!!
The only good point about this mascara is that it was easy to remove and came off with just a store brand own baby wipe.
Don't recommend at all!
I don't usually buy Boots 17 Mascara but I was drawn into the free gift on offer at the time so ended up trying the Black Lasting Fix Mascara which claims to be All day wear, Smudge proof with incredible staying power that visibly lengthens & defines lashes.
I found this mascara very disappointing, on the first application I had to comb through my lashes as they were clumped up, the bush had far too much mascara on, I wiped some off on the top of the tube and tried again. I personally like to build up my mascara for the desired look but it was impossible with this mascara as my lashes were all stuck together and it dried so fast!
I have quite sensitive eyes especially in the summer when my hayfever is bad and this mascara did not help, it dried so fast and during the day little bits were coming off and going into my eyes causing irritation so I ended up having to take it all off which was not an easy task! It states on the tube smudge proof but its make up remover proof also!!
I was not at all happy with this mascara and it will be a long time before I buy another boots 17 mascara.
When it comes to buying mascara it's one of the things I truly hate to buy. Whether I spend a fortune or spend pennies on my purchase I usually end up buying rubbish! I've only found one recently I really like, however it tends to dry out really rather quickly and I found myself wanting to try something new which is when I came across this particular offering (in black, brown and black/brown colours) in Boots (only available in Boots as this brand is exclusive to them) for £5.37 a tube which to me seemed good buy!
Dark grey plastic tube and I'm simply told it's Lasting Fix Mascara (17), I'm told a little bit about the product on the back of the tube, contact details for Boots are given, size is stated which is 8ml (and the only size this is available in), the recycle symbol is displayed, there is a round colour label on the lid of the product which states the colour on it (in my case it's black) and finally there is a white sticky label which peels of which simply is a bar-code. Simple if not a bit cheap to look at this it is, but it's ok enough!
A Bit About The Product According To The Tube....
All day wear, smudge proof mascara with incredible staying power. Visibly lengthens & defines lashes. Dermatologically tested. Fragrance free.
Me Using It...
Well firstly lets talk about the brush. Course as usual the brush itself is at the end of a very long plastic 'wand'. It's very thin with no bristles as such just a spiral integrated line in which you brush through your eyelashes. To me this is a good quality brush and I do like the rigid 'wand' that does give total control to me but I find the liquid itself too dry. I have to wipe the brush a little every time I bring it out of the tube (from new) to remove any lumps and then I'm ready to go which is odd for such a dry mascara.
Because the liquid is rather dry I have to really concentrate on what I'm doing and work hard to transfer colour where I want it but having said that with time it is achievable.
The results however with this mascara are really disappointing I think. Yes it coats the eyelashes in a rather natural way (once you've removed any small clumps given to the eyelashes during application) and it is smudge proof etc and wearing it created me no problems at all and more importantly over a few hours it didn't interfere with my sensitive eyes at all or crumble and/or flake off.
However it didn't lengthen my eyelashes or uplift them or make them thicker by any stretch of the imagination. It added a bit of matte colour to them but that's about it really, for me it's a day time mascara that gives mediocre results and that's that and removal is hard!
It really isn't awful but personally even from a day-time mascara I expect more for it for the price especially and not only would I not recommend it I wouldn't buy it again even at half it's usual price!
