I know there are probably much better products out there, but this does a fine job for me.

As someone who uses relatively little make up, and not often, I really need to get my mascara right, as it's the first thing that people notice when I'm wearing any. For me, in buying a mascara I have learned there is a tricky equation to be sorted out - cost versus quality. I don't want to spend a fortune on something I rarely use, but at the same time, if I'm not using it regularly it needs to be of good enough quality that it won't be unusable if I haven't opened it for a couple of months. Whilst this one wasn't the cheapest, it sat nicely in the "lower price" spectrum, and was Boots' 17 brand, so it was one I trusted. in the bottle there is 8ml mascara, and the retail is around £4.50. I wasn't exactly looking for "maximum volume" but I did like the wording on the back where it referred to "defined volume" - I don't like the look (on me) of thickly clumped eyelashes, I think a mascara should certainly define the lashes. I also have fairly fine eyelashes and it also states the look of "thicker" lashes might be expected. Finally, and possibly most importantly - "Non-clogging and easy to apply" !! If I'm being honest, those last two factors alone would probably be enough to have sold it to me! Of course, you can't try these claims out, so only time tells, but in the event I found this mascara to meet all of those statements. It comes in a fairly standard "straight-up, straight down" black tube/bottle, with the writing in bright pink and silver. It has a soft brush which is not thickly bristled but not thinly either. When you take it from the tube it is coated well with the mascara without being thick or clumpy. The brush always comes cleanly from the bottle, and you're ready to apply. I always found this mascara went on really well. I usually needed two strokes of each area of lashes to get a decent look. The brush is light and tapered at the end so it's easy to do all of the lashes without any rogue splodges to the nose or eyelid. I went for "black brown" shade rather than straight black, as I think the black is a bit heavy for me. This shade is a great colour for me, giving the colour and definition without being really black. I have probably had this mascara for 12 months now, and being so rarely used, it is starting to get a bit thick. When you take the brush out it's looking pretty dry, even though I know I haven't used it all. But I fully understand that I'm an exception rather than a rule in the make-up consumer field, and if you're someone who uses make up all the time I would guess this would make a perfectly decent inexpensive everyday mascara.

      A great mascara from Boots!

SEVENTEEN Maximum Volume Mascara While browsing in Boots recently I came across this mascara. I like to wear maximum volume mascara if I am going to bother wearing it at all, so decided to try this one. The price was £4.69, which is reasonable for mascara, and as I was buying a few other bits, I took advantage of the 3 for 2 on beauty offer, so it cost me even less. I chose the colour brown-black, but the mascara also comes in black. The brown black looks black to me when I'm wearing it, and I can only tell its not black when I see it on the brush, as the liquid is slightly brown. The mascara comes in a black tube with screw on lid, with pink and white text. There is a barcode on the lid, and label to show the colour on the end. There is a brush inside the lid, which has quite wide bristles and is about an inch long. In pink text it is labelled as 'Builds lashes for thicker, longer, more defined volume. Non-clogging and easy to apply. Dermatologically tested. Fragrance-Free'. And it certainly is!! The only complaint I have is that the end of the brush seems to collect a lot of mascara, making applying it to the inner corners of my eyes a little difficult. This mascara is not waterproof, but I have had no problems with it running. It lasts all day and my eyelashes look great. They are well defined, and it really doesnt clog and stick my eyelashes together which is what I often have problems with. I love this mascara and I will repurchase. Seventeen is a Boots brand, so it is only available to purchase in Boots stores or online at boots.co.uk. The mascara contains 8ml and should be used within 6 months of opening.
