Advantages: Very moisturising, lots of shades, good for those who prefer a lipgloss but want a more intense lip
Disadvantages: Smaller in comparison to other lipsticks, applies sheer with just one coat
I've always preferred lip gloss to lip stick, just for the fact that I'm not brave enough for a full matte lip colour and I like my lips to look glossy for an everyday look.
However, when I was in Boots, the Mirror Shine Lipstick was just above the lip glosses and the packaging caught my eye straight away; a lovely metallic blue with girly pink lettering. I read the description on the shelving and had a look at a tester. The stick looked glossy and the majority of the colours looked very wearable. As there was a three for two promotion on the 17 brand, I thought why not give it a go. I chose the colour Belle, which is a very pretty rosy pink.
When I applied the lipstick later on, I found it to be very sheer on the lips and not very pigmented, although my lips did look shiny. I applied another layer and found this did the trick and you could really see the colour. I found that the Mirror Shine really moisturised my lips as well, and they even felt soft the next day after wearing it. The lipstick comes in 10 shades, and comes in a range of shades from pinks to browns so there will be a colour for everyone.
There are only 2 issues I have with the lipstick. Firstly, the colour lasted a fair few hours, but after a drink, the colour came off and it definitely needed to be reapplied again, which I don't usually find with other popular brand lipsticks. The second issue is that the stick is not as big as usual lipsticks, and as it does require a lot of reapplication, it will run out quite quickly.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this lipstick for those that prefer a more glossy lip, but want the intensity of a lip stick. The product retails at £4.59, which I believe is reasonable and cheaper than a lot of other popular brands.
Summary: Recommend this product, but not for those who like a bright stand out lip
