---Why I bought it---
I received this tube of Boots photo flawless primer as part of a gift box for Christmas last year. The Gift box was called "Seventeen Complete Collection" and I have no idea what it cost as it was a gift.
To be honest, I hardly ever wear foundation, and can't even remember the last time, and I have never purchased a primer. So the fact that this tiny tube was in my gift pack was overlooked for quite some period of time.
But I was recently mother-of-the-Groom at my son's wedding, so this required making some extra effort!
---What is it like---
The primer comes in a small 15 ml tube, which is black with gold writing, so looks like classy. The long thin nozzle only allows a tine squeeze of the product out at a time, so this would help it to last longer, and indeed I found that a little goes a long way.
The primer is a milky white cream that is firm enough to hold its own shape as you squeeze it onto your finger. As you smooth it onto your face, it has a talcy feel and is very light. It almost feels like it has instantly disappeared, but in fact it is still there and you can spread a little a long way. The texture it gives to your skin is similar to the texture after you have used talcum powder (though of course with none of the whiteness). your skin feels smooth and soft. It doesn't seem to need time to soak in or anything, in fact it doesn't seem to soak in, and you can apply foundation straight away.
---Does it work---
When I used this for the wedding, I applied this followed by my foundation at around 11am, and I was happy with my face each time I went to the ladies during the day and evening, though I did begin to look quite ragged around the edges after being whirled around during the Scottish Celidh! But then I'm probably too old to be dancing all night"
The one benefit I have found from this experiment though is that it helps your eye shadow to go on smooth and last longer. And I have been using this little product quite regularly since. I just smooth the tiniest amount onto each lid before I apply my eye shadow. The eye shadow seems to apply more smoothly and blend better, and, though I'm not and expert, I think it lasts longer.
When this current tube runs out, though I think it will last a long while as you use such a tiny amount, I will probably buy another one, because I like the way it helps my eye shadow to blends and last longer. I don't ever think I will become a foundation convert though, but if it works this well for eye shadow, I think it would also work for foundation.
Now on my fourth round of this product, it is one of my favourite items from a recently adopted favourite brand of makeup 17 (not to be confused with number 17!) mainly for its good quality products and affordable prices- all represented in this product!!
This photo flawless primer is designed to be used before the application of foundation or concealers- it is a base. It is made to minimise pores and prolong the wear of your foundations by giving it a smooth base allowing for easier and smoother application of foundation.
In a stylish black and gold tube this product looks good, and at only £4.99 for 15ml it is one of the best value for money primers (in my opinion!). I purchased the item from Boots, and it is worth mentioning they very often have 3for2 offers on makeup and i have bought this in offers before my other has run out, just so that i do not go without!
Ultimately i think it does what it says on the tin and i use it everyday. After my face routine i.e washing and moisturising i apply a generous amount of this primer, i can only describe the constituency as a soft white thick paste. I think it is the thickness of the product that means you can really rub it in (especially in the t-zone area) and fill those pores. I find the pores on my nose a particular issue but after using this and then my foundation i feel a lot better about them.
I often apply a generous amount all over my face, rubbing firming so the product fills the pores, then i gently run a makeup sponge over my face to remove any excess before applying my foundation.
It will give your foundation a nice smooth and more even base to stick to and really make it last longer. At only a fiver i would really recommend this product even if you just want your foundation to last a little longer and particular if you have noticeable pores.
Until recently, I had never really used primers. I honestly thought that they were quite a gimmicky product and would not give great benefits. I had heard great things about many primers but they were all upwards of £20. In the last year or so, many drugstore brands have started releasing primers, so I was quick to snap up this Photo Flawless primer from the Boots brand 17.
17 is a brand from the well known store Boots, therefore you can only buy this from their stores or online on their website. It retails for £4.99 which is a real bargain compared to some of the high end brands, so I was more than happy to pay this. The only thing which I was a bit disappointed with is that you don't really get much for your money. The tube is only very small, and I tend to use mine up quite quickly.
The primer comes in a black tube which easily dispenses the primer with a small squeeze. You don't need too much of this to cover your whole face. The primer comes out in a white gel consistency. I like to squeeze it on to the tip of my finger and then massage into the face. It is quite smoothing and definitely makes my blemishes and redness stand out less. It is not a miracle product for the skin, but there is slight benefits. It does not feel cakey on the skin, and it dries within a matter of seconds. I wouldn't recommend this product to be used just on its own as a skin smoother, but only for those who wish to apply make up to the face after.
I like to wear concealer, foundation and a little bit of powder. I have noticed that when applying my foundation after using this primer, it applies much more evenly. I can definitely see a greater difference during the application process.
Prior to using a primer, I would find that my make up would slide off my face towards the end of the day - particularly in the summer. After using this primer, I have definitely noticed my make up stays in place much better. As I have oily/combination skin, I find that my make up wears off much quicker than other people, but this primer really helps to hold it in place which I was happy with. It is a good primer for using on nights out too.
Overall, a good primer for those who don't want to spend too much on one. It works for me, and I have recently repurchased this as I find it holds my make up on for a good 3-4 hours longer than before, and it also gives me the peace of mind on hot and busy days so that I don't have to keep reapplying my make up. I can not give the product five stars but this is simply because I think it is a little expensive for the amount of product you get. Thanks for reading.
I can't remember why I purchased the 17 Photo Flawless Skin Primer now, but I believe that I probably got it as part of one of the regular three for two offers Boots have on the 17 brand.
I don't wear foundation every single day of the week but when I do I like to wear a primer to help it stay on for as long as possible. I don't like having to re-apply foundation throughout the day as I find adding a bit more on top of whatever I'm already wearing can cause my dry skin to look caked, therefore I usually end up removing my make-up altogether and reapplying it which is obviously time consuming. A primer, which is a product designed to prep the skin and keep foundation on longer, is therefore a good investment for me.
The 17 Photo Flawless Primer comes in a black tube with gold writing. It has a line of golden squares along both the top and bottom of the tube which I think is supposed to make it look like an old fashioned roll of film. I don't find the packaging particularly special, but I do like it, and it doesn't look too cheap.
The only instructions for use are to 'wear alone or under foundation'. There is no indication how much should be used at once, or how long you should leave it between applying the primer and applying the foundation, so it has been a case of trial and error. I only ever wear this under foundation as I feel it is a waste to apply it on its own. Usually I will apply this primer after applying my moisturiser, but sometimes I will put it directly onto bare skin, depending on how my skin is looking and feeling on the day. I haven't really noticed a difference in the results either way.
The primer comes in the form of a cloudy gel and has no noticeable scent. It feels incredibly silky and smooth when rubbing it into my skin and it instantly reminded me of another skin primer I have used in the past, the Smashbox Photo Finish primer. It's been a while since I used the Smashbox product but I would go as far as saying the 17 version is near identical in terms of texture and application.
The primer smoothes on very easily and a little goes a long way. I tend to apply it in small dots to my forehead, chin and cheeks and blend until my face is covered. It doesn't feel greasy or oily at all on application, but if I touch my face I can feel that it is there. It doesn't seem to sink in as such, rather it just sits as a layer on top of the skin. That said, it is not a product that feels thick or heavy once it's on.
Unlike some other primers this one doesn't claim to moisturise and having dry skin I can vouch for the fact that it doesn't add moisture. One thing it does claim to do is minimise the appearance of enlarged pores. I don't really suffer too badly from enlarged pores except one or two around my nose and to be completely truthful I don't think this gel did anything to help them look smaller.
I find that my foundation seems to go on much more smoothly when I have applied this primer first. I don't particularly notice any difference to how my skin looks when I have applied this, but it definitely helps with longevity. I'd say I probably get up to three or four hours extra wear from my foundation having applied this, which may not sound like a lot but can mean the difference between having to reapply my makeup or not.
A 15ml tube of this primer costs £4.99 and is only available from Boots. 15ml may not seem like a huge amount but only a little bit is needed per use, so it does last. I think £4.99 is a really good price as the Smashbox one - which I feel this is similar to - costs closer to £25 for 30ml which obviously works out much more expensive.
Overall I'm pleased with this primer and I think I would buy it again. I don't think it is perfect - it doesn't seem to make much difference to the appearance of my skin - but it does help it feel much better to the touch and more importantly keeps my foundation on longer which is what I wanted it for.
I've seen quite a few good reviews of this on dooyoo and having tried almost every primer out there I knew I had to give it a try - especially given the price tag!
I only really got into wearing primers a year or so ago after trying a l'oreal one which is still a firm favourite (see review for more info). I have since tried quite a few different ones and formed a strong idea of what I like and don't like. Nowadays I use a primer every time I wear make up because I think it makes such a massive difference to the appearance of your skin. I tend to opt for cheaper ones in the day and if I am going somewhere special always opt for a really great one. Most of them tend to be quite expensive so I was thrilled when I heard great things about this one, because it is only £4.99 per tube. I knew if I liked it then I'd be onto a winner as it would be cheap to replace.
What struck me first when I bought it was how small the tube is. This was really disappointing for me because I work a lot and have uni and so find it a struggle to replace my make up regularly. I prefer things that contain more product and then I can leave it longer in between buying everything I need for daily use. At 15ml the tube is a similar size to concealers that come in a tube.
The tube is made from a flexible black plastic and the lid from a hard black plastic. The look of the tube is actually really nice. The colours used are black and gold which looks very stylish together and give the impression of an expensive product despite the cheap price tag. The tube is totally functional too, it does everything you would expect it to and the tube is easy to squeeze. I like everything about the design except the small size of the tube and therefore small amount of product.
The primer itself is like a clear coloured gel - similar to smashbox or lancome primers if you've ever used them. There is a slightly cloudy colour to this primer but it has a very light feeling to it. It melts slightly on contact with skin so when it rubs in it becomes very silky and thins out a little bit. For an everyday primer this is quite nice, though personally I prefer something a little thicker as I think it feels more effective. I haven't found that it flakes at all when rubbed into skin, and it does leave it feeling smooth.
My biggest disappointment has to be with the final effect. I think once make up is applied over the top there is little visible difference. I have found with other primers that a bigger difference can be seen in the smoothness of skin and the overall look of the make up, giving a flawless coverage. This really is annoying for me as this is the primary reason I use products like this. I do think though for £5 you probably can't expect much more than what you get here.
When I go to apply make up this is never my primer of choice, and often more of an after thought. I often force myself to use it because I know I should now I've paid for it. Part of this is because I have a number of other primers I much prefer, that are admittedly more expensive. Perhaps if I didn't have these then I would go for this primer more often, but as it is it really isn't a favourite.
Personally I would rather pay double and get something that is more effective. I do think though if I were on a budget that this would make a perfectly okay primer to day use - who knows, maybe I'll come back to it, but for now I have others I prefer.
Although I use an eye primer to help my eyeshadow stay put, a primer for my face is not something I had ever tried until I bought this. I made the purchase on a whim really as, at a reasonable £4.99, it seemed a good price at which to try something new.
According to the Boots website, this primer is designed to minimise pores. You apply it before foundation "to smooth your skin and assist the application of your base, leaving skin even and fresh all day long".
As mentioned this costs £4.99 for a 15ml tube, plus you get 16 Boots Advantage Card points with your purchase. As this is a 17 product, this is only available to purchase in Boots stores.
As you can see from the picture, this comes in a very simple black tube with metallic writing and a screwtop lid. It is quite nice packaging and the tube is small enough to fit in any makeup bag or, in my case, in the perspex make-up organiser I have on my dressing table.
Skin like silk
I really had no idea at all what to expect with this product, so I was quite surprised the first time I used this to discover the primer was sort of like a milky coloured gel. It is quite thick in texture and on my fingertip almost felt slightly gritty. However, applying this to clean, dry skin, I couldn't believe how quickly this sunk into my skin. It disappeared pretty much instantly, and straight away I could feel that my skin felt smoother. I actually found that I needed a little more of this product than I thought as it did disappear so quickly I couldn't spread it over my face as I would with a cream.
Once applied all over, my skin feels incredibly silky smooth, but completely non-greasy - my face has an almost 'matte' feel to it. It feels like the perfect surface on to which to apply make-up.
An even outlook
And when I do apply foundation or tinted moisturiser, it certainly glides on smoothly and easily, and although the surface of the skin feels smoother there are no traces of primer left to interfere with any other products. Once make-up is applied, my skin definitely feels nice and smooth and looks very even. But if I am completely honest I don't think there is a massive difference compared to when I apply make-up without using a primer. I would say that it helps give an even finish but it certainly doesn't make a very drastic difference. I also don't really think it helps my make-up stay on any longer than it would otherwise.
Overall I really like this product and I absolutely love how it makes my skin feel when I first apply it. I also think it slightly improves the overall look of my skin after I've applied my make-up. But I don't think it makes a massive difference and isn't really a miracle product or anything for me. But for a fiver I do recommend it as it's pleasant to use and definitely leaves skin feeling silky smooth. As for me, I may buy it again but it isn't a 'must have'.
I only started using this primer a month ago, when I found it in my sisters make-up bag. Usually, I don't use a primer at all - I tend to see make-up products like that as just unnecessary 'extras' that are intended to dupe me out of my hard earned cash, but being the nosy (and slightly cheap!) sister that I am, I put some on, and was completely astounded with the results.
As soon as I squirted some out onto my hand and applyed it onto my face, I felt the difference. I always moisurise my skin first, but sometimes this leaves my skin a little bit 'sticky' and doesn't make applying foundation a particularly easy job. But this primer left my skin smooth and with a completely fresh and even complexion. Applying my foundation on top of it was the easiest thing in the world - it glided on, and stayed throughout the entire day! In the evening when I took off my make-up, there was still plenty of it left on my face to come off on the wipe, which never happens - usually my foundation has melted off my face by then! Using the primer even makes me feel more confident about going outdoor with no make-up on at all. My skin feels so smooth, looks less red and blemished - hard to believe it's all thanks to this tiny little tube of primer magic!
On top of it all, it's a steal at such a low price. I've seen other primers around that are doule the price, and I'm almost certain that they wouldn't work any better than this one. It's so brilliant, that I've stopped stealing it from my sister and started buying my own!
A primer was never included in my make up bag; I didn't really see the point in using them, until recently. I found that during the hot weather my make up felt as though it was sliding off and melting away - causing me to re-apply and use more and more of it up! I switched to using a tinted moisturiser but missed the protection and the coverage that foundation gives you. After doing some research and asking my friends I was introduced to the wonderful world of primers!
A primer is very useful as it evens out your skin tone, smoothes away any impurities and banishes those pesky pores, leaving your skin prepped and primed for foundation. It also helps your make up stay on for longer and look more 'flawless.'
All you have to do is find the one for you - but there are SO many to choose from, I did not know where to start! As I had never used a primer before, I wanted to start off with a cheap one to see how it worked for me, that way if I found I did not like it; my bank balance wouldn't be too shocked! That is where I found Boots 17 Photo Flawless Primer and at £4.99 I could not say no!
Packaged in a black plastic tube, (a little like a lip gloss) with gold writing presented on the front informing you of the name and the aim. I like the way it looks as I feel it's quite sleek and sophisticated without being too simple or too over the top, all of the Boots 17 range are packaged in a similar way. To access the product, you simply unscrew the lid and squeeze the tube. One disappointment would be the size of the primer - the contents is only 15ml which makes me feel like I can't use a generous amount each time, so it does not last long meaning I end up going through quite a few! But for a cheap price, can you complain?
The product itself feels very creamy and is clear in colour, it does not have a scent which I find more appealing as some beauty products have a smell that is so overpowering it would give your perfume a run for its money! The application is very easy and straightforward - I like to apply mine with my fingers, however you can use a foundation or stippling brush if you wish. As soon as I have applied it, I can see that my skin feels noticeably softer and sometimes if I am not going to be wearing make up on a 'lazy day' I will just pop a bit of this on and it really does make all the difference!
However when I am wearing foundation, I apply it straight after the primer and find that it helps it to stay on and make my face feel and look smoother! My foundation no longer disappears during the day and I feel I can once more, wear it with confidence!
This primer claims to minimise pores, however I have not seen any evidence of this - so if you are concerned or have a problem with pores I would not recommend this product as I personally have not seen a dramatic difference. Also there is no oil control, I have combination skin and in the oil patches I sometimes find I have to apply a little bit more powder! So if you have oil prone skin perhaps that is something to think about! Everybody's skin is different, so I think if you are interested in this product the best thing to do is purchase it for the cheap price of £4.99 and see how you get along with it!
Personally, I use this as my everyday staple for my prep before foundation, however when I am going out or on a special occasion I like to use a slightly more high end product. I would recommend this to a friend as I love the way it makes my foundation look and more importantly feel. If you're looking for a primer that does the job - look no further!
Available at Boots or Boots.com
I had recently come to the end of my beloved Benefit Porefessional and I couldn't afford to replace it as it costs £22 a tube!
I was looking for a new cheaper primer and I saw this in Boots for a bargain price of just £4.99. The primer comes presented in a small black tube with a lid. You just unscrew the lid and squeeze out a SMALL amount of the primer. The primer is white in colour and it has a thin consistency, making it much easier to use. I use it by spreading it across my face paying more attention to areas where I am prone to shine and larger pores. The primer spreads well onto the face and it doesn't have a nasty smell to it, in fact it smells quite pleasant.
After rubbing the primer into my face I then apply my foundation. I use mineral foundation and I find that this primer "holds on" to the mineral foundation without me having to re apply my foundation later on in the day. It is an excellent base for make-up (any form of make-up) and it helps to minimise pores and shine. Usually my skin starts to show some shine around midday but this primer helps to stop that - leaving me with matte skin all day long.
You can also mix the primer with your moisturiser, if you prefer to moisturise before applying foundation. Simply mix a little primer with your moisturiser and apply to the face as you usually would with standard moisturiser. Simple! Your skin will still be shine free all day and your make-up will last considerably longer.
A bargain primer that's just as good as premium branded primer.
When I heard about people using things called 'primers' on their faces all I could think of was my dear old Dad, doing something called 'priming' to bits of woodwork before he put on the top coat. I suppose that's not a bad analogy. Sometimes even the best foundation or tinted moisturiser can't cover up uneven patches of skin.
My skin isn't bad for my age but I do suffer from areas of enlarged pores in my t-zone, mainly the after-effects of a teenage acne problem. As I've got older the pores have grown larger, despite regular maintenance on the affected zone. Recently I had to have some photos taken for business purposes and I really didn't want to look as though I had really bumpy skin.
I was shocked at how expensive some of the best-reviewed primers were--well above £20. Not justifiable for me. Our only make-up store in the nearest town is a Boots, so when there was a special offer on for the 17 Primer plus a few other bits and pieces I decided this was the time.
I read the instructions and discovered that I was to put the primer on just before the make-up went on. I discovered that if you leave it too long, it can go slightly crumbly as foundation is applied. In consistency the primer is not unlike the glue you get from a gluestick pen (remember those?). I was a bit dubious but as soon as the primer went on the enlarged pores on my nose, they did seem to look smoother, less noticeable. I topped up with foundation, which I don't usually wear and was pleased with the smooth effect.
For day-to-day, I only wear tinted moisturiser and the Vichy one I use isn't that 'covering'. The primer still works well with it, just giving the skin that smoother, more even appearance. The Vichy goes on really well as well.
All-in-all, given the good price I found on the 17 Primer I would give it a four out of five. It performed better than I would expect but doesn't seem to quite last the day.
I have tried so many different primers - from Benefit 'That Gal' to No7 and Esteé Lauder - but I can honestly say that none of the other ones have been anywhere near as good as this one. I was always slightly weary of boots 17, I tend to think that with make up and skin care, the more you pay the better the quality, and because boots 17 is all very cheap (or well priced) I always assumed (naively) that it must be poor quality.
How wrong was I? This product is AMAZING it smoothed out my face with the tiniest amount of product and it kept my foundation in place all day and I normally top up my powder and blusher half way through the day - but with Photo Flawless primer, I don't have to take my powder and blusher with me when I am going out because it stays put without fail, every time. So girls, get ready to only take your lipgloss out with you in your handbag, it is all that you will need to top up throughout the day!
Having previously been a primer 'virgin' I was on the look out for a cheaper primer so that I could have a go and see what all the fuss was about. Having previously been looking at primers costing upwards of £15 I was feeling a little daunted, it was a lot to pay for something I might only use once.
Then I was browsing the make up section in boots and saw this, brand new out, selling at £4.99 but was on offer (free if I bought the matching foundation from 17) so I snapped it up and took it home.
Now I had heard Primers make your pores appear smaller, even out skin tone, provide a long lasting base for foundation or can be worn alone to make your complection appear more flawless...
I admit I was sceptical at first about how much of this my cheap number 17 primer would achieve, but as it turns out - all of them!
To look at it it looks very small, I was thinking it wouldn't go very far but you actually only need a tiny bit as it spreads and blends really well, I use it on the apples of my cheeks (red blotches) nose (again with the red and the pores) and some on my eye sockets to help my eye make up stay.
I fell in love, it comes out and looks a bit odd, its a colour that looks like you have added a little bit of milk to water and is thick, as you rub it in (i use my fingers for blending) it immediately soaks in and leaves a moisturised 'powdery' feel, I actually find this very nice.
I have worn it alone to test it first and when my other half got in from work he commented that I looked nice and wanted to know if I was wearing make up... :)
Then I tried it under foundation (I don't wear too much, again only on problem areas) for work, I was doing a 9 hour shift so I thought this really would be a good test of this product. Starting the day all seemed well, my foundation did indeed apply easier and seemed to have a nicer finish, it didn't feel heavy at all and I couldn't feel I had anything on as I pottered off to work... 9 hours later I looked in the mirror and was impressed, make up still there, no greasy residue and I looked as fresh as when I had gone in, thumbs up.
I have since started wearing this all the time under eye make up and around the dark circles under my eyes before I apply my concealor. It maximises my eye make up wear and again provides a good base, less eye shadow needed, less money spent on cosmetics :) It's all win win.
I used mine up in about 2 months and rather swiftly have bought another. Try this it is really good and for the price you'd be mad to miss it.
My skin is quite patchy as i have a skin pigmentation which is something that i do mention quite a lot i find that it doesn's always cover with foundation and that my foundation wears off wuickly which also leaves my skin patchy.
----- Price -----
My boyfriend went and bought me the 17 photo flawless primer from boots for my birthday, this is something that I'd never had before as I thought that they were too expensive but this one was a very good price as it was only £4.99.
When I opened it I thought oh this looks small as it is only 15ml I thought that it wouldn't last long but it has as you only need a small amount on the end of your finger and it spreads quite a bit. I only apply it to my nose as I find this wears off, a little on my chin and above my upper lip as this is the area that seems the most patchy and where my foundation wears off the most.
----- The Product-----
It has a nice soft texture which feels nice on my skins it's not wet as it has quite a dry feel to it which is one of the things that I like about as once applied you can put foundation on straight away if you wish as you don't have to wait for it to dry.
The primer can be worn on its own or you can apply it before you put foundation on as it smoothes your skin out it's up to you really. I find that once I've applied this I only need a small bit of foundation and I mean a small amount. I also find that it makes it stay on longer which is what I wanted. It helps to get rid of shine which is brilliant on hot days or on a night out as I do find my skin does get shiny which does not look good on photos.
------ My Opinion------
It is a really good product that lasts ages for the size, i find that i have to use less foundation which makes doing my make up a bit quicker. It leaves my skin feeling soft and silky and there are not patches definitely a product that I am going to continue to use!
I saw the promotional material for this in my local Boots when it was originally released and couldn't believe the price for a primer, I obviously had no idea how good it would be, but for that price it was certainly worth trying out! Even better, at the time it was also free with the matching foundation!
For those who aren't sure what a primer actually is or does, you apply it onto your bare skin (before foundation) to even out your skin and provide a good base for your make up, you can also use it alone if you prefer. A good primer can help to reduce pores, help your make up to last longer and even help to create a more "flawless" look. A lot of people don't use primers at all, but after I first tried one, I haven't ever applied my foundation without one.
Packaging: The 17 range in general has quite simple packaging, but it's not unappealing. This product in particular looks quite classic in it's design, the tube is a nice size too.
Price: At only £4.99, this item is a complete bargain, other primers I'm familliar with usually cost at least twice this, some even triple! The question is, is the product as good as it's price?
Product: The primer itself is clear, and does feel slightly oily in texture, a little goes a long way with this product too so as per usual, don't apply too much to an area. I have quite dry skin so the oilyness didn't really affect me, but it's worth keeping in mind if you have very oily skin, I'm not sure how good it will apply in that case. Once applied to my skin the primer felt more "velvet" like on my skin, it felt very smooth and soft which was a relief, I like a matte look to my make up and was worried the oilyness may still be apparent on the skin. I left it to dry for a few moments just in case and then applied a foundation over the top. Just as I hoped it would the foundation glided over the primer nicely and there was no patchyness, nor did it look oily, the foundation I used was a matte foundation also by the way. I don't think I would be happy to use this primer alone with no foundation, but as a base beneath one I think it works very well, especially for those on a budget, my skin looked smooth and even, I also do think my foundation lasts longer with it too. :)
Summary: This is a great product for those who do want to use a primer but can't afford those by premium brands, it provides a good base and helps to prolong your make up. Definitely worth a try, especially if you have never used a primer! :D
My skin has always been very oily and having tried loads of different products that are supposed to help stop the shine form breaking through I went to my sister (who's a beauty therapist) for advice and she suggested I try a skin primer. The ones she uses and recommends are way out of my price range so I looked around for a cheaper one and eventually stumbled on this one on the Boots website. It only costs £4.99 and has received good reviews on the site so I thought I'd give it a go.
The tube it comes in is quite plain but looks quite professional which fits with the image they want for the Photo Flawless range. The tube is quite small so it's easy to carry around with you if you found you needed to and it has a screw on lid which is easy to open. It has a nozzle type applicator which makes it easy to squeeze out just the amount you need which makes for less waste.
The texture of this primer literally feels amazing, it's not like anything I've ever felt before. It's like a gel texture which is really silky and smooth but has quite a dry feel to it rather than feeling moist or wet. Sounds strange but feels lovely! It goes on so smoothly and easily and I don't need to use much at all to cover the whole of my face.
It can be used either alone or under foundation and it's supposed to smooth and even out the skin, minimise pores and remove shine to leave your skin even and fresh all day. As soon as I apply it all the dreaded shine disappears and my skin feels really smooth with a silky matt finish. I don't think it minimises pores when I use it on it's own but if I use it under foundation it seems like it's filled out the pores to stop the foundation from sinking into them, which does minimise their appearance with foundation on.
I've been really impressed with the results of this. It keeps my skin looking smooth and shine free literally all day both when used alone and under foundation, and when I use it under foundation it helps my foundation stay on and look flawless all day. I've used so many different products that claim to keep oil at bay and none before this have even come close to lasting all day but this one really does, it's amazing.
