Advantages: Good quality, reasonably priced, lots of shades
Disadvantages: Doesn't last too long
I'm not a big fan of lipsticks as they often feel heavy and quite drying on the lips, plus I always associate them with old people! I prefer lip glosses because you can apply them without a mirror, they are usually moisturising and there's such a huge range out there to try (you can never have too many!). The one I keep going back to is Boots 17 Plump Up The Volume Lip Gloss. The Boots 17 range has been around for as long as I can remember - I've tried quite a few of their products and they're definitely good quality! I use their foundation, eyeshadows, pressed powder and of course, their lip gloss, and I've never been disappointed with any of them. The lip gloss comes in a wide range of colours - there are only a few listed on the website but I saw about ten in Boots. There are clear, sheer and ones with lots of pigment, so you'll find one to suit you! My favourite at the moment is Peachy, which is a pale pink colour with gold shimmery bits, which makes me look nice and tanned, but I also use Crystal and Barely Rose. Unlike a lot of cheaper cosmetics, the lip gloss doesn't look cheap and tacky at all! It has a matte silver lid and the colour of the tube matches the colour of the lip gloss. It's clear as well so you can see how much gloss you have left! It's nice and sleek - you won't be embarrassed about whipping it out in the ladies, and you can pop it into your bag or pocket without any trouble. The gloss itself is quite thick and slightly gloopy, and has no smell, but spreads easily and smoothly over your lips. It does highlight dry, flaky patches though so use a lip balm beforehand! You only need a small amount because it is quite thick but it doesn't feel disgustingly heavy and sticky on your lips! Although the shade looks fairly natural it has a lot of colour - thankfully the colour doesn't bleed over the lip line like Revlon Lip Glide does (never, ever buy it, you h
ear me?!)! The look is fairly natural but of course this will depend on the shade you try! It has subtle shimmer and is quite glossy, but not as much as it could be - which I'm happy with as I don't like lips that could double up as a mirror! If your hair blows in the mind, it will stick to your lips but ALL lip glosses do that, trust me! It lasts for around 3-4 hours without eating before it fades away completely but the shimmer stays so you still have something on your lips! It's easy to reapply as well because you don't need a mirror. I tend to emphasise my eyes, so if I had red lips or something, I would look like Jodie Marsh (who always seems to throw all the contents of her make up bag onto her face - in the dark!), so this is perfect for me. The lip gloss isn't perfect - it could last longer and be less sticky - but it's the best I've used so far. I've always switching between products but I think I'll stick with this one! Even better, the prices of the whole 17 range have been lowered! The gloss used to cost 4.50 GBP but has been dropped to 2.99 which I think is great value for money! The prices are now around the same as Collection 2000, but the packaging with Boots 17 isn't cheap and tacky, and you know you're getting quality! Recommended? Yes - I could cry if this product were discontinued!
