      Disadvantages

Average, it's probably worth investing in a better one..

I have seen alot of bad reviews for this product, but to be quite honest i was not dissappointed in this product (nor was i pleased..). It's not a good foundation as such, but i use it as a powder just to put on top. Some people have said it comes out orange? i do have to agree with that as it is slightly orange on application. But as it's not the best product it quickly fades. It doesn't last the whole day so i do find that i am constantly finding that i have to top up on some days.

It is quite cheap at just over £5 if i remember correctly but compared to other products of the 17 range it is slightly more dearer. But a couple of pounds isn't going to make a difference. I do think it is worth what i paid for as it wasn't exactly expensive. If it wears off, i do find that my face goes oily thanks to this product, which means i need to apply more which then leads to orange foundation. When I have used the majority of the pot, I did find that it started to stick together and i found it very hard to get onto the sponge. Plus alot of it did get stuck on the sponge meaning alot of it would be used on just one application.
If you are looking to buy this, I would recommend having a mousse foundation or concealer underneath it, then just to use this as a top powder. Don't put too much on as it will go orange and it probably won't last all day so you may need to take it around in your handbag if you looking for a top up.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A good, budget foundation

      Introduction to the product
I was surprised to see so many negative reviews on this foundation. I received mine as a birthday present about a year ago and it's been my favourite foundation since then. This was my first time using a No17 product so I had no idea what to expect. I'd also never used a 'mineral' foundation before. I'm always excited to try new make up products, particularly foundations so I was excited to give this a try!

      Content
The foundation comes in a pressed powder format which feels fine and smooth on the skin. Having owned several liquid foundations before , it was a nice change to try a different type of foundation. And after using this, I can definitely say that I prefer the pressed powder format to liquid foundation. I think it's a lot less messy, easier to apply and easier to blend into skin. The little sponge that comes with it makes it easier to control exactly where you're spreading the foundation. I was thankful of this because my skin is so pale that even pale foundations can be extremely noticeable against my skintone if not blended well.

      Packaging
To be honest, I found the packaging a bit ugly. It's a dull grey colour, though if you look closely you can see bits of glitter embedded onto the packaging. It has a button on the bottom which pops the lid open to reveal the foundation and compact. I was surprised to find that it came with a decent sized mirror on the underside of the lid and a small sponge for applying the foundation.
I've never had a foundation which comes with a mirror before so I was impressed!

      The look
I'm surprised by the reviews I've read saying it makes your face look orange? I actual feel it gives quite a subtle effect! But that's maybe because I don't use too much of this at a time, maybe one two thin coatings before I leave the house. I imagine if you put loads on then it could look orange but the same could be said for any foundation really. I mainly use foundation to give my very pale skin a bit of colour rather than using it to cover blemishes. For this purpose I feel it works fine.
I'd suggest maybe using this as a basecoat for another foundation to tone it down if you find it too orange.

      Does it last?
      No not really.
It does wear off easily, within only a few hours. But it's a small size that can easily slip into my handbag so I often take it out with me so I can reapply it. This is where the mirror comes in very handy!
I've had this for over a year now and I'm only just beginning to get to the bottom of the pot. So it does last, even with me having to reapply all the time.
As I've already said, for those who feel that it doesn't last very long/gives an orange colour, it could be useful as a base powder before you put your main make up and foundation on. I imagine it would last longer if used like this.

      Where to buy?
No17 is a Boots exclusive range so obviously it can be brought from there. After just looking on the Boots website, it can be purchased from there for £6.29 which isn't too bad.
But I see it's listed on Ebay for round about the £3.99 mark which I think is good value for money considering that you are getting the foundation, mirror and applicator sponge.

      Summary
I really like this foundation. Yes it doesn't give the best coverage and it isn't the longest lasting product in the world. But I like the subtle colouring that it gives to my skin. And I also think that it's good value for money, particularly with the free mirror.
The pressed powder format is much easier than applying liquid foundation in my opinion. It's less messy too!
If you're still unsure, I'd recommend buying one of the £3.99 ones for Ebay and maybe using it as a spare/secondary foundation to begin with.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A good value mineral foundation

I decided recently that I wanted to try mineral foundations because they're supposed to be so much better for your skin. My sister uses the Bare Escentuals one and she really loves it and her skin always looks amazing but I just can't afford it because it's so expensive, so I wanted a cheap alternative. I came across this one in Boots for £6.29 so I decided to give it a go.

The compact it comes in is very neat and looks nice and much more expensive than it actually is. It has a button on the front to open it with and inside the lid is a very good sized mirror. The compact has the foundation at one side and the sponge stored at the other. It's very handy if you want to take your foundation with you for touch-ups.

The foundation is in a pressed powder form and it feels very fine and smooth. The sponge that comes with it is quite rough and I don't really like using it so I bought a different sponge to use with it. It's very easy to apply it just by sweeping it on with the sponge and making sure you blend it. It blends really quickly and it's easy to apply even around the nose and other awkward areas. It feels silky and glides onto the skin really easily.

You can use just a very small amount for a low coverage or build it up to get a fuller coverage. It covers all my spots and imperfections well and doesn't build up extra layers and accentuate them like most foundations do, but it can draw attention to dry skin. Even when you build up to a high coverage it still looks really natural and not caked on. It feels really light and once it's on I can't feel it on my skin and so my skin still feels like it can breathe.

If you don't have really oily skin you wouldn't need to use a powder over the top of it because it does keep my skin looking shine-free pretty well but as I do have very oily skin I do use a powder over it aswell and it looks great. It stays on all day without needing to touch it up and even through a night out with dancing it doesn't slide off and it still looks perfect when I get home.

The only negative thing about ti really is that there are only 6 shades to choose from so if you don't fit one of those shades you won't be able to use it. Most of the shades are very close to each other so there's not a lot of variation and it also makes choosing the right shade quite difficult.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

An orange oil slick on your face. Wear it for a pantomime if you're desperate.

I bought this foundation as a replacement for Boots 17 Powder Finish Satin Mousse, a light foundation that goes on smoothly and feels fresh all day, but is sadly nearly empty and doesn't appear to be sold any more. I thought this foundation would be a suitable substitute... Mineral foundations are supposed to be light, aren't they? And they don't block your pores or look caked? This one is different. I have never before had the misfortune to put such horrible greasy rubbish on my face.

I bought the palest shade available - Soft Ivory - and found that it was a particularly vile shade of WAG orange. The "sponge" is a nasty little rubbery thing, of a consistency resembling that of an undercooked shellfish. It was close to useless for applying the foundation, transferring very little to my face. This turned out to be a good thing, as I quickly realised that I didn't want it anywhere near my face anyway. Aside from the hideous colour, the consistency is greasy, and I immediately felt it blocking my pores. I could not wash it off fast enough.

I was extremely disappointed with it, particularly as Boots 17 is usually of a decent quality. This product was more expensive than 17's usual reasonable prices, so I was expecting a higher quality, and instead got something that Boots should be ashamed to be selling.

Fear not! My £5.86 was not entirely wasted. I have recently appeared in a pantomime, and this foundation provided a marginally less repulsive alternative to greasepaint, and was the perfect shade of pantomime orange. Now that I have used the product more extensively, however, I am even more aware of the disgusting texture, and after a couple of hours I felt like my skin was awash with grease. The texture within the packaging has also proved to be entirely substandard, as after only a few uses it has crumbled into pieces, and makes a horrible orange mess every time I open it.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Great

I find buying a foundation to suit my skin tone a total nightmare! I hate running out of it and it's one of the only make up items I actually let that happen to as I dread re-buying any.

Well sadly I needed it and the other day in Boots I had a lot of free money on my reward card and if I spent £5.00 I got a free little box of goodies as well and for free to me, this seemed a great opportunity to stock up on some new and fresh items to revamp my look with.

        The Packaging...

Oblong dark grey slightly shiny flip open case. On the top left hand corner in bright silver writing is the number 17 and then in light blue and silver writing on the left hand side I'm told it's Pure Finish Mineral Foundation. My chosen colour is on the front with the wording soft ivory on it in the form of a peel off label. On the bottom of the compact and on dark grey sticky labels with white writing on I'm told a bit about the product, contact details for Boots are given and the recycle symbol is shown, ingredients are listed and once again my colour is stated as is the size (9g) and bar-code. Nice enough packaging but lots of it! Flip open the case (which is easy and the top part houses a very large and proper oblong mirror and then on the bottom there is two sections to it, one housing a slab of soft looking powdery foundation the other a square sponge which is almost the same size as the foundation. I do like the mirror and the sponge and it's nice and compact to carry about if you wish to do so and it is strong and not one bit flimsy and is of good quality.

A Bit About The Packaging According To The Bottom Of The Compact....

17 Pure Finish Mineral Foundation is enriched with minerals for a naturally, luminous complexion. Non-pore blocking formulation helps your skin breathe whilst concealing imperfections for a beautiful, flawless finish. Lasts all day for shine free confidence.

        Using It....

One word of advice. Do be careful when choosing a colour from within this range. I went for the lightest shade available (to my eyes) with little testing in the shop believing I couldn't go wrong. However I did because the colour is a little dark for me but I can get away using it if I only use a small amount and blend it into my face very well.

Using it is very simple indeed to do. Smooth the soft white sponge gently over the odourless foundation and it comes off gently without marking the foundation block that is left in the compact or making any mess at all. It really isn't messy to use this, and basically it's like applying pressed powder to the sponge and then onto the face.

You can of course use this over moisturiser (though do really let it dry first or this will clog over moisture as it's a bit powdery) and then simply smooth and blend on the face. It goes on evenly, smoothly, covers up imperfections rather well (such as light acne scarring, spots and blackheads) and feels very light on the skin indeed and skin actually feels very natural.

To the touch skin feels silky and once on the face it seems to stay put all day long and is easily removed with just your usual make up removing routine.

Skin looks healthy with this on, smooth, luminous (in a natural, mature way) and what is nice about it is due to the fact it goes on like a powder and mattes down the skin I don't need to use pressed/loose powder over the top of this if I don't want to which has to better for your face!

I notice with this I don't get any shiny breakouts, no creasing and it doesn't even transfer anywhere.

At £5.86 I do think it's expensive for the amount of product you get however it is top quality stuff in my opinion and the mirror and sponge and the robustness of the case is great! It works, it's light and I really do like it!

        Colours Available....

        Soft Ivory
        Caramel
        Honey
        Biscuit
        Natural
        Fair

Exclusive to Boots though do look for out for special discounts and gifts etc.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A good product for teenagers just starting out for makeup, but not for me!

I got this on a BOGOF offer, alongside another 17 foundation and found this product to be quite disappointing.

It comes with a sponge applicator, but when I tried to apply it with this I found that the sponge absorbed most of the product and I only managed to get a patch of product on my skin. The results therefore were a bit blotchy and the colour seems to be darker than other products from 17 in the same shade.

I found that applying it with a denser powder brush works quite effectively, however, the coverage is really light- more like a finishing powder than a foundation.

The fact that it is mineral based is encouraging, so at least I know that when I wear it I'm not clogging my pores up with loads of gunk!

It isn't all that expensive compared to other mineral based products so is a good starter product for younger teenagers having a play around with makeup!

****Boots 17 Pure Finish Mineral Foundation****

Recently when I was on holiday I unpacked my suitcase to find that I had forgotten to bring any foundation with me.Not wanting to spend very much on something when I had loads of the stuff I liked at home I picked this one because it was quite cheap to buy and there was a no17 promotion on at the time.

          **The brand**
No17 is a brand that you can buy from boots, cheaper then collection 2000 but more expensive then no7/rimmel etc.

          **Packaging**
This foundation comes in a off-black,sturdy/rectangle d shaped container. It has a clip you press in to open. When you open it half of it is a mirror and the other half is split between the foundation and a sponge.

          **Product**
As far as I can remember this is available in seven different shades so there should be one to suit most skin tones.I was quite happy with how well it matched however I thought that after applying it that it felt quite heavy on my skin,I am not a big foundation wearer so this might have just been me.
The sponge I got with it was a good size and I liked it that much I use it to apply my normal foundation..I know this is not a reason to buy foundation but I also liked the way that this one smelled.

          **price**
This cost around £5,86 but no17 is frequently on offers such as 3 for 2 so I would wait until then to buy.

I thought that this was a nice product and I would probably buy this again as a cheap foundation for my holidays.
