I love this tinted moisturiser, its great as its not heavy like a foundation but makes your skin look and feel really smooth.
I bought this from boots for a great price of £4.45! It has a good choice of colours and so you can find one to match your skin colour, you can also miz it with moisturiser to give it an even lighter look.
I use this most days, you only need a very small amount and it blends easily into the skin. It doesnt leave you with that line where it joins your skin, and you dont have to spend ages blending it into your skin either! It has lasted me ages too which is great. Its also very easy to use. I just squeeze a very small pea sized amount onto the back of my hand, and find my fingers are best when applying. just apply in small doses and then add more if needed. your fingers are great when blending, better than any sponge I find!
I quite often use moisturiser first, or blend it in with moisturiser before use as I have quite dry skin, but im sure most people wont need this. It stays on all day too without the need to reapply. I find it doesnt dry up my skin either, some foundations really make my skin dry and by the end of the day its cracked, but this doesnt do this at all!
I do find thats its more of a day makeup, as its light and i prefer heavier make up for a night out or clubbing.
Obviously you can get better makeup if you are williing to spend more, but for its price its a great product! will definitely buy again!
17 Sheer Cool Foundation
This is my normal foundation. I've tried others that are lower and higher in price but I always come back to 17 Sheer Cool Foundation as it suits me.
As this is a 17 product, you will only find it in Boots at £4.49. Only in the shops as it's not available on the website like many of the 17 range products.
It has got up in price since the package has changed. I remember when I was younger buying this for about £3.00. Although, it is more expensive now for whatsoever reasons, it's still worth buying it. The tube I had before this lasted me for 3 months and I use it daily.
There's a variety of different tones you can get to suit your skin. I chose Nicely Natural as it suits my skin tone. The other colours are Perfectly Fair, Nearly Nude, Delicate Beige and Warm Amber.
Like I said, they've changed the packaging since I've been using it. It used to be in a clear plastic bottle with a pump and it had 50ml in it but now, it's in a silver tube with see through sections where you can see the colour of the foundation. It contains 40ml.
All the foundations in the 17 range have the same packaging except for minor differences like Sheer Cool has a small snowflake attached to the circle, where it says Sheer Cool. The same packaging for all of the 17 range of foundations can be confusing especially if you're in a rush. Just last week, I ended up buying Shine Control. To be honest, there's not much difference in the foundations in the 17 range (Barely there, Moisture Tint, Shine Control etc.) except some are easier to apply to your face than others. There's one except to that rule and it's you've guessed it Sheer Cool Foundation and in a moment I will tell you why.
There's a coverage guide at the back of the tube. Nicely Natural is classed as light. I'm not sure on the other tones, as I don't buy those.
A good thing about this foundation is that protects you from the sun as it has a SPF (Sun Protection Factor) 10. Also it contains aloe Vera and it soothes and moisturises my skin every time I use it.
So I'm here I am with a small mirror in front of me and I will apply my foundation. Sheer cool doesn't need a base moisturiser like I do with some other foundation. It's ready to be used on your bare face. To cover my face, I need about 3 squirts of about the size of 5p coin (4-5 squirts if it's for going out clubbing).
This is for covering my whole face and for the blending in so you don't have those nasty white patches. Be careful with the tube though, as it can squirt everywhere and especially if you're trying to get that last bit out, it might hit your clothes, the mirror, shoes etc like it did me. All over the jumper I'd just put on.
Although the coverage guide says it's light, which it is, it covers spots really well. When I was younger, this make up was my saviour. I always had a lot of spots until the age of 19. This foundation and of course, a cover stick made me be able to go out and not be too ashamed of my spotty face.
Back to the mirror, I use my fingertips and spread the make up around my face, blending it in as I go. There, I'm done. It looks very natural and that's the way I like it. Now the rest of my make-up, bear with me. I'll come back tonight and let you know how I do.
Well, I'm back. I've done some shopping, worked 4-hour shift in a hot restaurant and cooked tea. How does the foundation look now? It's slightly fade which is to be expected but I still look the same. A natural looking me.
I said that I used more for when I go clubbing. This is for making the foundation look less natural and daytime and to take it upbeat and make more nighttime. I can tell you with this foundation, you won't see me in the toilets touching up my foundation. This foundation is here to stay until I roll in at 3 o'clock in the morning.
Ok, time to take off my make up now. I get one of my wipes out and start. Only thing about this foundation is, because it lasts through the day it's quite hard to remove.
All in all, this foundation is good value for money. It's easy to apply and slightly harder to remove so it lasts all day/night.
For the summer I was looking for a tinted moisturiser. I wanted something with less skin coverage than a foundation but I wanted a bit of a glow and to even out my complexion which can sometimes look flushed when it?s warm. In a rush and short of money I decided to buy Boots 17 Sheer Cover Tinted Moisturiser. This is a brand I don?t buy often as it is fairly cheap and cheerful. The cheap squeezy tube with its rather more classy navy blue decoration didn?t manage to disguise that it was only £2.69 for a 40ml tube. I have to say, I feel ashamed when I see it in my makeup box as it does look rather unpleasant compared to my Almay or Clarins products. It was available in 5 shades and I chose Nicely Natural, the second shade up as it seemed the best match to my fair skin. Applying the tinted moisturiser only takes a few more moments than using normal moisturiser, as obviously you have to blend away any telltale orange marks. It is quite hard to judge how much you need of the moisturiser and the tube has a habit of spitting large amounts out. This means you have either having an overly made up look and sweating moisturiser, leaving it to congeal inside the cap or waste a certain amount by throwing it away. The texture of the moisturiser is heavier than a normal lotion, although it is lighter than a cream or foundation. The scent is much more like a foundation though with a slightly chalky scent to it. The fragrance is not overly powerful however and does wear off after a while. The absorption rate is quite swift, sinking into my skin almost immediately. Unlike a lot of tinted moisturisers it isn?t greasy but also I think it might not be moisturising enough for dryer skins. As mine is combination this isn?t a problem for me and as a normal moisturiser I would have been fairly happy with it. The problem I have with this product is the tinted part. The colour does not look at all natural and makes my face look very made up. It also i
sn?t sheer on my skin having quite a matte texture and finish to it. Under powder it is fine but left on its own it tends to make my skin look bland and mask like. It also tends to settle into the creases on my face. After several hours on it tends to go rather patchy, especially so in warmer weather and clogs my pores. Obviously as I want it for the summer this rather restricts when I can use it. Having the colour sliding off my face and rubbing on my clothes is probably the worst part of this moisturiser. A tube would last me around 4 months with the amount I use it, which is very infrequently. It washes easily off clothing but I?d rather not have the colour rub off my clothing in the first place. It may be a decent moisturiser but I wanted a sheer tinted moisturiser as promised on the cheap looking tube. I?m disappointed in this and won?t be buying it again.
