For the summer I was looking for a tinted moisturiser. I wanted something with less skin coverage than a foundation but I wanted a bit of a glow and to even out my complexion which can sometimes look flushed when it?s warm. In a rush and short of money I decided to buy Boots 17 Sheer Cover Tinted Moisturiser.

This is a brand I don?t buy often as it is fairly cheap and cheerful. The cheap squeezy tube with its rather more classy navy blue decoration didn?t manage to disguise that it was only £2.69 for a 40ml tube. I have to say, I feel ashamed when I see it in my makeup box as it does look rather unpleasant compared to my Almay or Clarins products. It was available in 5 shades and I chose Nicely Natural, the second shade up as it seemed the best match to my fair skin.

Applying the tinted moisturiser only takes a few more moments than using normal moisturiser, as obviously you have to blend away any telltale orange marks. It is quite hard to judge how much you need of the moisturiser and the tube has a habit of spitting large amounts out. This means you have either having an overly made up look and sweating moisturiser, leaving it to congeal inside the cap or waste a certain amount by throwing it away.

The texture of the moisturiser is heavier than a normal lotion, although it is lighter than a cream or foundation. The scent is much more like a foundation though with a slightly chalky scent to it. The fragrance is not overly powerful however and does wear off after a while. The absorption rate is quite swift, sinking into my skin almost immediately. Unlike a lot of tinted moisturisers it isn?t greasy but also I think it might not be moisturising enough for dryer skins. As mine is combination this isn?t a problem for me and as a normal moisturiser I would have been fairly happy with it.

The problem I have with this product is the tinted part. The colour does not look at all natural and makes my face look very made up. It also i

sn?t sheer on my skin having quite a matte texture and finish to it. Under powder it is fine but left on its own it tends to make my skin look bland and mask like. It also tends to settle into the creases on my face. After several hours on it tends to go rather patchy, especially so in warmer weather and clogs my pores. Obviously as I want it for the summer this rather restricts when I can use it. Having the colour sliding off my face and rubbing on my clothes is probably the worst part of this moisturiser.

A tube would last me around 4 months with the amount I use it, which is very infrequently. It washes easily off clothing but I?d rather not have the colour rub off my clothing in the first place. It may be a decent moisturiser but I wanted a sheer tinted moisturiser as promised on the cheap looking tube. I?m disappointed in this and won?t be buying it again.
