Advantages: Easy to apply, Looks natural, Good value
Disadvantages: Really must be used with a sponge, Not as good at controling oil as i would have hoped.
When I first started to wear make-up I didnt have a clue! I went with one of my female friends and got her to advise me on a foundation that wa of a fair quality but one that didnt show up too much if I had missed parts... Boots 17 Shine Control Foundation was what I was directed to. I took it home and decided to try it straight away. It went on really easily and was a really good match for my skin colour (I got nicely natural as I have pale skin.) Obviously, If you do put more on it can be obvious that you are wearing it but that goes without saying for almost all foundations. It covers spots fairly well but for any fairly large or red ones, a concealer must be used. A powder should also be used to set the foundation. (I just use my oil control papers, they have transluscent powder on them) Although the product says that it controls shine, I feel that it does not do this sufficiently with my skin. This is why I also use oil control papers. However, it wcould just be my skin as it is VERY oily and will not stay under control for very long! A few weeks later I decided to buy a sponge to use with the foundation. This works even better, creating a really even and natural look. However, with a sponge more foundation will be used as it soaks some up whilst applying. Using a moisturiser for a base is essential for a good, even look but dont use too much or you will be very shiny. (If too much is used blot it off with a tissue) All round, this foundation is good but where it really comes in handy is for everyday use. I dont always want a totally flawless look so usually I will mix two pumps of the foundation in with my usual moisuriser. This works really well - not only covering up the minor imperfections but also not caking up spots and making them look worse. The bottle says that it is slightly medicated and I can understand this as my spots have never got worse as a result of this. However, I am always careful to was
h it off before bed! It is also at a fair price... The bottle is pump action which means that very little is wasted, resulting in a long lasting and good value product. All in all, this is a good product. It does the job it is supposed to do and it does it at a low price! Bargain! Hope you have found this review useful, Bambi x

- 03/08/04 I always use a very small amount of powder (applied by a proper powder brush) to try and combat "shine". |
