“ Brand: Boots / Type: Lipgloss „
I brought this from morrisons and they've just started stocking collection 2000 makeup, and it was very cheap. I thought I could use it to layer over lipstick or just use as a plain lipgloss for when I'm at home.
The tube is a standard lipgloss tube, it's plastic with a applicator nib at the end. You squeeze the tube lightly and gloss is dispensed through the applicator and then you can just apply it using that. The design of the tube is a little different from the picture, it is black and clear with "Pure Gloss" written on the front of it in black italic script.
The colour i bought was a pale pink, the shade was called 'candycane'. When I applied it, it was a clear gloss, just with a hint of pale pink colour. It was noticeably sticky but it smelled divine, like marshmallows and white chocolate. I layered the lipgloss over a (very thin) layer of sheer foundation on my lips to help bring the colour out more, and it did. My lips were a nice shade of pale pink which went with my pale blusher and allowed my dark eye makeup to stand out more.
I wear my hair out a lot so my hair kept sticking to the gloss which was a pain. It looked shiny and not too greasy, so I put up with it, but it didn't last long and within a couple of hours the gloss was all gone and I had to keep reapplying.
The price of this gloss is £2.20, but it's regularly on offer on 3-for-2. It's available in superdrug, boots, wilkinson, semi chem, and some supermarkets.
I probably wouldn't buy again as it's just too sticky and doesn't last long enough for me. I did like the colour and smell, and the price was good so I will finish it up instead of wasting it.
Overall, not recommended.
I bought this lip gloss several months ago as I was looking for a new one and I wanted to buy something that was within my price range and looked good. I have several lip glosses already in my collection which are from Clinique but at the moment I can't afford to pay Clinique prices so I looked around Boots for a cheaper alternative and opted for this brand- Collection 2000.
I don't have many products from this brand anymore but when I was younger I used to have a lot of their range as they are very good value for money and usually do the job well so I was quite happy with buying from Collection 2000 again.
There were several colours to chose from including:
As you can tell by their names they are not very descriptive of what the colours actually are! You have no idea just by hearing the names what they look like! Well they are very varied with Diamond Diva being a silvery colour and Superglam being a pale pink and Vixen being bright pink! The colour which I went for was Superglam I chose this colour because it looked as though it would be a good contrast on my lips without being too bright. I wasn't wanting something that was very loud and in your face but rather subtle without just looking too boring. This colour does look quite dark in the tube but once on your lips it isn't as dark.
The tube that it comes in it sqaure which I like, I think it makes it look quite classy and a little different instead of just being round. The lid is silver which is also the top of the wand. I do like this silvery lid, again I think it makes it look quite classy and it did sell it to me somewhat! It may be quite a cheap product in comparison to others but it definitely doesn't look it.
You can see the lipgloss inside so you can see the colour which is good- although like I said not very accurate in terms of shade as I found it was different once I applied it to my lips.
The wand is quite long- it reaches all the way down to the bottom of the bottle which is about as long as a usual mascara tube. The 'brush' on the end of the wand is very small which I don't actually find very useful. I think it ends up bringing out too much gloss- whenever I pull the wand out it's like a huge blob of gloss on a tiny brush which makes it quite messy to apply. I have to wipe it on the side of the bottle so the excess gloss isn't dripping everywhere which again is rather messy. I find applying it quite difficult with the brush being so small, you have to take several strokes to cover your lips unlike with other brands of lip gloss.
The actual effect looks nice- for about ten minutes! It shimmers nicely on my lips like I would expect from this gloss given it's name! It really is a nice look but what I really don't like about it is that it doesn't last, it has no staying power whatsoever! It literally goes within minutes even if I haven't had a drink. I do appreciate that often having a drink will mean that your lip gloss does not look as good or can disappear but what happens with this is that it just doesn't stay no matter what! I put this on before going out and by the time I reached my destination it had completely gone.
I am really disappointed by this as I was hoping it would be better. I think that in future I will be sticking with Clinique lip glosses as I find that they have better staying power. I do think that the bottle looks good on this and that the colour itself is very nice, however, it's difficult to apply, it doesn't seem to stay on for long and it is a bit messy so therefore I am not happy with it. I will be giving this product 2 out of 5 stars which is maybe generous considering it doesn't really stay on your lips so what is the point?
I was browsing the aisles of my local Boots store and had gone looking specifically for three things; a clear lipgloss, a pink nail polish and a trio of eye shadows from Collection 2000. I noticed that Boots were running a special offer whereby if you purchased 2 Collection 2000 products you got a Collection 2000 Pure Gloss lipgloss free. So in order to save some cash (and purchase all three items for under £5) I decided to take advantage of this deal.
***Collection 2000 Pure Gloss***
The lipgloss is described as ", creates the ultimate mouth-watering, ultra glossy effect - without the uncomfortable sticky feeling some lip glosses can leave. And that's not all - Collection 2000 Pure Gloss is a chic treat that we can all afford to kiss away our troubles. Why splurge on one more expensive lip gloss when you could afford the whole Pure Gloss range!"
The lipgloss comes in eight sheer shades (which Collection 2000 describe to be all inspired by sweets) . These colours are Icing (clear), lollipop, cupcake, honey, dol mix, candy floss, sherbet and sorbet. Aside from the clear (icing) colour and a slightly golden (honey) colour the colours tend to be shades of pink ranging from very light candy pink to a deeper pink. I purchased this lipgloss in the clear colour therefore my review will be based upon my experience of this product.
The lipgloss comes in a plastic tube with a screw off lid. The tube is made from clear plastic therefore you can see the colour of the lipgloss and how much you have left. When you open the lid the end of the lipgloss nozzle has a slanted tip. This has a hole in and when you squeeze the tube lipgloss is dispensed from this hole and you use the slanted tip of the nozzle to apply along your lips.
Collection 2000 Pure Gloss lipglosses are available from a number of retailers including Boots, Superdrug, Tesco and Asda. A 10ml tube costs £1.99 from Boots. This is a cheaper value for money lipgloss considering the average price for a lipgloss is in the region of £4-5 per tube. I got this lipgloss free as part of an offer Boots were running if you purchased 2 other Collection 2000 products.
***My Experience ***
To apply you simply squeeze the tube and run the applicator along your lips. This dispenses lipgloss out of the hole in the nozzle and the angled nozzle rubs this onto your lips. Immediately on application I discovered the first flaw of the Pure Gloss Lipgloss. As you squeeze the tube far too much lipgloss comes out of the hole in the nozzle. This is due to the size of the hole in the nozzle; it is much larger than in lipglosses in similar packaging. The consistency of the lipgloss is also very thin so as this spreads on your lips it does feel very thin and runny. With the clear gloss I felt this was not too much of an issue if the lipgloss was not so neat on my lip line, however if this has been a coloured gloss this would have been very messy and made the lipgloss look badly applied.
The lipgloss does have quite a strong scent and taste and this is of vanilla. It is a very creamy vanilla taste and scent which I feel is very sickly.
Once applied onto lips the "Icing" (clear) coloured lipgloss has a very shiny look to it. Lips have a really glossy appearance and are very glossy and wet looking. The gloss itself is not sticky but it is very greasy feeling. As soon as you rub your lips together the wet glossy look disappears and you can feel the lipgloss rubbing off your lips. Unless you intend not to talk, eat or drink this lipgloss has no staying power. Within 5 minutes of application the appearance of clear lipgloss had completely vanished off my lips from simply talking. If you try and drink you will find that all of your lipgloss comes off your lips and onto the glass.
Lips are left feeling soft and smooth after use but I was extremely disappointed to find this lipgloss rubs off so quickly.
I carried on using this lipgloss for a number of days, reapplying regularly. Within 5 days the tube only had around one third of lipgloss left; so although only a cheap £1.99 lipgloss this is not at all economical.
This is an extremely disappointing lipgloss from Collection 2000 and although it is considered cheap at £1.99 per tube it is also one of the worst lipglosses I have ever used. The effect when applied is impressive as lips look so glossy and shiny but the lack of staying power and the fact it rubs off within 5 minutes of wear, makes it a pointless applying.
I previously used a Collection 2000 Plastique lipgloss which was the same price and this was very good in terms of how it looks on lips and its staying power. Sadly the Collection 2000 Pure Gloss lipgloss does not live up to its predecessor and should be renamed Pure Rubbish. I'm not even sure it's worth one star!!
